  • Fabulous Property!

"We absolutely loved our stay at Vervain Mill! Nevis is a great small island to get away to for a week & we enjoyed every bit of it. The mill is BEAUTIFUL! It would easily sleep 6 adults (possibly more) but was PERFECT for the two of us. The renovation of the mill was spectacular! All the amenities, and then some. Well kept, well maintained, immaculate. 3 bedrooms plus a lounge room, 3 bathrooms, full kitchen, gorgeous deck with views of the grounds, the ocean, the mountain, etc., beautiful grounds, pool, everything you could want. The mill is off the beaten path, which is exactly how we like it. Think seclusion, not isolation. But it only takes an hour to drive around the entire island, so you’re not far from anything. There are stores nearby so it’s easy to stock up on anything you need. We explored the island every day of our visit. There are great restaurants & plenty of recommendations at the property. There is a great museum on the next road, which we highly recommend – it’s the ruins you see as you drive down to the property. If you really get out onto the less travelled roads, you can find ruins of other mills to see just how awesome the renovation of Vervain really is. We booked a snorkeling trip with John which was definitely a highlight & we highly recommend. The mill itself offers enough to warrant booking it, but the management is what really puts it over the top. Wendy answered all of our questions and arranged for our trip to be so very relaxing. Without her, the trip could have been much different. We flew into St. Kitt’s late in the evening after the public ferry to Nevis ended. She arranged for a taxi to meet us at the airport to take us to a private ferry, which took us to Nevis, where another taxi was waiting to take us to the property. Wendy arranged for a local to prepare a meal & store in the fridge for when we arrived. Let me just say, do that! We ate that cake for the entire week. Wendy also arranged for a chef to come to the mill to prepare a meal for a special evening. And Wendy arranged for a rental car to be brought directly to the mill. We originally booked the mill because it was pretty much the same price as a decent hotel room. But we prefer to do our own thing & don’t really love the monotony of hotels. In the end, this was absolutely the best way to go. We loved everything about the property & the management. We absolutely recommend the property & would stay here again!"

  • Paradise= Idyll Dreams

"We just returned from a week long vacation at Idyll Dreams with our two adult daughters. What an amazingly beautiful and peaceful place to stay! The house is beautifully appointed ,complete with a well stocked kitchen, books, videos and WiFI. The pool and view of St Kitts are breathtaking. The large yard is nicely landscaped with many flowering plants. We enjoyed exploring Nevis, it's beaches, plantations and wonderful restaurants. A highlight was a sailing/snorkel charter. We always loved returning to Idyll Dreams- In fact some days we never even left! The owners were very helpful and easy to deal with, answering all our questions. We hope to return again soon."

  • Villa Verandah, Nevis - Highly recommended for real relaxation

"Best way to arrive is by hired fishing boat from St Kitts, just as the sun is setting. Pitch up at the small jetty at picturesque Oualie beach and you've only a 3 minute drive to the Villa. Airy, spacious, nicely furnished and well equipped, it makes an ideal base for a relaxing holiday. The owners, Peter & Nikki, were excellent hosts - friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful, ironing out minor problems promptly and offering valuable suggestions as to where to go, where to eat and suchlike. A large part of the Villa's verandah has permanent mosquito nets - a superb idea, which meant we could sit outdoors from early morning breakfast to after-sunset snoozing, with no concerns re any biting bugs. The Villa's pool is a very nice size - not so small that the slightly-more-energetic visitor can't manage a bit of reasonable exercise - and is maintained in fine condition by the pool contractor. The gardens are also very nicely kept and "Claudia" ensures the Villa's interior remains pristine, visiting once or twice a week at times to suit. A hire car is advised - the walk to the main road (where the small local, minivan-style, buses seem to pass regularly) is not particularly long but to get anywhere (including the supermarkets in Charlestown around 15 minutes' drive away) means a hire car is sensible. The main roads are generally quite good condition, and drivers tend towards being laid-back and leisurely, average speeds being around 30-40mph, with only the very occasional nutcase who insists on screaming past at a rate of knots (which, even then, usually only amounts to around 50mph). We were particularly in relaxation mode on this holiday, so we took very little exercise beyond wandering along long stretches of the many, deserted, sandy beaches, paddling in the warm waves. If we had intended a more energetic holiday filled with activity, we probably would not have ventured to Nevis, but it absolutely 100% met our requirements for a leisurely re-charging of the batteries. We were not seeking "nightlife" and if we had been, we would have struggled to find it. Good eating places were available, with costs reasonable - similar in fact to costs of eating out in the UK. Having holidayed on many Caribbean islands, I felt much more comfortable and relaxed in Nevis than any of the others. It's still unspoiled and the locals we met were genuinely friendly. We hope to be back! And if we do return, we shall most probably stay again at the Villa Verandah."

  • Amazing stay at the Hummingbird House

"Every positive review this property gets really does not do justice in regards to how amazing Richard and Claire are as property owners and how amazing the Hummingbird is to stay at. Even prior to arriving, Richard and Claire made sure that every little thing was thought through from outings to car rentals. I highly recommend leveraging a day in the sailboat with Miles. He is an amazing captain and takes you to areas of the island only accessible by boat to snorkel. We brought our 5yr and 10yr old and they loved it at the house. Between the pool and the games room, there was always something to do. The foliage on the property is beautiful and we loved the monkeys playing in our yard in a daily basis. Don't forget to swing by the Double Duece for at least one meal during your stay. The owners are great and Thursday night karaoke is a blast. I really could go on and on but I would highly recommend this property for any future Nevis trips because I know that we definitely will. Kevin"
