"Seldom do you walk into a rental property and immediately feel the warmth of a home, but it happens at Pura Vida. There is an almost mystical aura of calm and peace that you will feel at once. The Steffens have put so much thought and love into this home, you will feel blessed to have shared it. The house is immaculate and very well supplied, the rooms are spacious and comfortable and separating the living areas from the sleeping area is genius! The views from the main house as well as the bedrooms are simply spectacular... from the turquoise waters to the ever changing sky, to the twinkling lights of St. Thomas in the distance. We watched the sunrise every morning over St. Thomas, and then were lucky enough to have a full moon rising over the same view at night! We spent hours in the rocking chairs on the porch, first watching boats come and go into the bay near Las Pelas, and then had cocktails and played dominoes in the cool breeze at night. You won't want to go to bed, except you get to get up and do it all over again!
We visited the town of Dewey and got "Bushwhacked" at both Mamacita's and the Dinghy Dock, both awesome places full of Caribbean charm. But the highlight of our trip was our visit to Culebrita by boat taxi...snorkeling and hiking to a hidden beach that must be seen to be believed..We found paradise!! Don't miss Culebrita!
Thank you Peggy and Carlos for sharing your bit of heaven with all of us. It has provided memories for a lifetime!"

"Villa Tampico was simply amazing. There was so much to do on the grounds and the property was within walking distance of shopping, restaurants and two grocery stores. From waking up to the sunrise and sting ray, turtles, crabs and fish off the dock. Looking for hermit crabs on the grounds. Snorkelimg off the dock or splashing in the pool there was no shortage of things to do. Flamenco , Tamarindo and Zoni beaches are all just a short ride away. Our family has been a lot of places in the Caribbean and none brought as much joy as this stay did!"

"I have been coming to Culebra every year since 2009 but this was my first time at Casa Sueno, and my first time staying on that side of the island. Bonnie responded quickly to my inquiries on line. As promised, we were met at the airport and showed to the house which sits on a steep hill with dramatic views of the surrounding hills and bay.
The house was impeccable, and the descriptions I read on the website matched reality. There were six of us and we never got into each other's way. The house is very open and breezy, with a large terrace that runs along one side (and where we spent most of our time while at the house!) The spacious living room, dining room, and kitchen all open to one another. The kitchen was well appointed with all the necessary utensils and equipment. The dining room table comfortably sat six, and the two living room couches (doubled as futons) were large and comfortable. A small hall led to a powder room and on to the large and well-appointed master bedroom and bathroom. The latter was especially enjoyable since it opened up onto the deck (but with total privacy!) with dramatic views of the bay and hills.
Across a pebbled courtyard was a guest house with two bedrooms and a shared bathroom, all of which were tastefully furnished with care. The courtyard had a grill (which we did not use). There were 5 beach chairs and plenty of beach towels for our use.
The house obviously reflects the owner's refined taste in furniture and interior design and I felt like I was staying in a real house as opposed to a cookie-cutter rental.
Those who come to Culebra enjoy its remoteness and low key activities: snorkeling, swimming, boating and casual dining. There are no fancy resorts or cruise ships here.
The house is conveniently located: just a few minutes from Zoni Beach, and a 10 to 15 minute drive to Flamenco Beach, Brava Beach and Dewey, the main town on Culebra, where the main restaurants and food stores are located. If you make a left from the house and walk about 30 minutes you will reach Playa Larga, at the eastern end of the island, with views of St. Thomas in the distance.
One day we rented a boat from the most excellent Captain Sebastian and spent some time in Culebrita island, hiking to the lighthouse and snorkeling among the turtles.
All in all, a most enjoyable vacation and stay at Casa Sueno. We will recommend this house to all our friends and family. It really was a "dream" house!"

"This is a small villa located at the top of 60+ steps. Seems like a long climb but when you reach the top the reward is a spectacular view of the bay. This house is the highest in the neighborhood. For an even better view we climbed to the owner's deck (with their permission). The property landscaping is lush. The deck was a great place to relax with coffee and watch the sunrise. Cooling cross winds kept the villa comfortable even in daytime heat. There is an air conditioner but we did not use it.
The villa is about one mile(1.6 km) from Dewey, the only town on the Culebra. Except for driving to the beaches, we were able to walk to town for everything else.
It was as expected. The local manager, Alberto, was very responsive. We texted him for something while at breakfast and it was at the villa by the time we walked back.
Do not count on WiFi internet access. It is present but weak and gets interference from another WiFi that shares the same channel. Disconnects are frequent. I had ATT 4G service which was exceptional everywhere on Culebra so it was a minor issue for me but had I been planning to use my PC I would have been disappointed.
Bring clothes pins--there is a clothes line and the constant breeze makes for great drying conditions.
If you want coffee get it in Puerto Rico before coming to Culebra. Most other needs are available at Milka Market which seems to have a little of everything, including clothes pins."
