  • Great home base for exploring east end of Puerto Rico!

"My wife and I (from northern California) decided to celebrate our 30th anniversary with a trip to Puerto Rico. We had visited Vieques about four years ago, but didn't have a chance to explore the big island. Our daughter (from Portland, OR), son and his wife joined us. We left our son's home in Philadelphia in -1 degree weather - to arrive in a balmy but stormy Puerto Rico that afternoon. We got to experience what the locals occasionally do - torrential rain and power outages for the first 24 hours, but that just made it a bit of an adventure. The first night we had dinner by candlelight (of necessity) at the Tex Mex cantina in the Plaza, and even with those challenges the staff served up a great meal. Matt's three story penthouse villa was a great base of operations. We ventured south as far as Guayama and Arroyo (the beach at Punta Guilarte was especially nice), and then up north to El Yunque (hiking to and swimming in La Mina waterfall is a must). Everyone agreed the pinchos (bbq pork & chicken on skewers) at Kiosko #35 in Luquillo were one of our best meals all week. We packed a lot into 4+ days, and we ended up on a real high note Friday with a trail ride at Rancho Buena Vista in the morning and the Barefoot Travelers kayak trip to Monkey Island in the afternoon (Keishya and Bob were fantastic guides). We also managed to squeeze in a few hours at Old Town San Juan before leaving Saturday afternoon. Locally, we used the PalmaNova pool several times, and the restaurants at the Plaza were very convenient - both food and service at Pura Vida was fantastic. The villa was very comfortable for our group of 5 adults, and I think we used most of it to varying degrees - including the Monopoly set (first game in many years), as well as preparing most breakfasts and two dinners "at home". As everyone else has said, the interior is beautiful and the views are spectacular, and the landscaping throughout Palmas del Mar is exceptionally beautiful. This is a great value for the price."

  • Wonderful vacation

"My husband and I had a wonderful relaxing vacation this home. Very short walk to the beach and the view from the patio was spectacular. There is a very nice pool for use at times that the tide is high as the beach is short due. There were many restaurants to go to in Palmas or you can go out of the complex to other areas in Puerto Rico. You can also go the Walmart, which is a short drive away, for groceries (although there is a small store within Palmas). There are lots of activities just a short drive away - San Juan, Luguilla, El Yungue rainforest. There is a AAA map in the property and I would strongly suggest you take that with you as GPS/cell service can be spotty on the island. This property was very nice with pretty much everything you needed. You could stay at Palmas the entire time without a car - but you would need a golf cart to get around the huge complex. Had a great time!"

  • Perfect home for Puerto Rico activities!

"Villa Pulichino is a little piece of paradise. The private pool and full kitchen are wonderful and the bedrooms are clean and comfortable. The house is extremely spacious with lots of places to gather and socialize. The community is amazing with every kind of amenity you can imagine (I do hope there might be beach club access available for a future stay). The house proved a perfect place for regrouping and relaxing after our many activities on the east side of the island and in Old San Juan. Gisela, next door, is an absolute angel. PERFECT, PERFECT, PERFECT!"

  • Marbella Club

"Our condo at the Marbella Club was pleasant, plenty of room, had everything you would need, a nice condo. The beach was small but enough room to walk on. Unfortunately the palm trees obstruct the view of the beach. Had an issue of a air conditioner leak but that was quickly repaired. The condo owners made everything easy, and all of the staff at Marbella were helpful and friendly(especially Blanca). The whole complex is huge but easy to navigate. Nice restaurants at the plaza, and a good number of activities on the grounds. I would have given a 5 star rating but the mattress in the second bedroom really need to be replaced. After the third night, we awoke with a sore lower backs which lasted the rest of the stay. Her's wasn't a serious as mine but it really limited the activities I wanted to participate in. After arriving back home, soreness went away within a week so no doubt it was the mattress. I'll give a holla to the owner."
