  • Simply Wonderful!

"Our family of 4 (two adults, 2 teen boys) escaped the winter snow in the northeast and spent 5 nights at the Tropical Jewel. This property is owned by a lovely, caring, very helpful and responsive owner, Yvonne. The condo is perfectly situated facing the ocean. The photos on the site are accurate but the view from the sliding glass doors is something you need to experience for yourself! With the glass doors of the main living area open we felt like we were literally on the beach. What an amazing treat to have that view all day. The location of the condo is ideal; 10 minutes from the San Juan airport, in walking distance from restuarants, markets, liquor stores, convenenience stores, an ice cream shop, the car rental place, the El San Juan Hotel and Casino, the Water Beach Club and so much more. You do not really need to have a car if you stay here. There are taxis always available and the local bus is inexpensive and is close by. We did end up renting a jeep for one day and exploring the El Yunque rainforest and the easternmost tip of the island. There are 3 restaurants located directly underneath the condo. Our boys loved being able to get their own food and drinks and take it out on the beach. I recommend the strawberry mojitos at El Alambique! There are air conditioning units in each of the bedrooms which made sleeping pleasant and helped to drown out the sounds of pigeons who like to congregate near the window and coo early in the morning. The condo was clean and had everything we needed. We ate breakfasts and lunches at the condo and typically went out for dinners. In addition to El Yunque, we took a day trip to Old San Juan where we toured El Morro and soaked in the sights and sounds of the town. We would highly recommend dinner at AquaViva in Old San Juan. We would definitely recommend this property friends and relatives. We felt safe and secure with the condo security system and were happy to have a local contact, Francisco, (the owner's property manager) in the case of any questions or emergency that may come up. Overall, this is great property, is a very good value and has everything you could need to enjoy the beauty of Isla Verde and beyond."

  • Good Value

"For the location, size and view this apartment can't be beat. The apartment is large and comfotrtable and has an amazing ocean view. I stayed here once before and the upgrades to the apartment have made it even nicer than the first time. I would stay here again and would recommend to friends and family. The only issue I had was that the gate to the apartment door was malfunctioning and could not be closed. I brought it to the manager's attention twice and, although she called someone to have it repaire,d it remained broken during my 2 week visit."

  • Great accommodation, Beach front location, Sight-seeing home base

"Would stay here again if we're in San Juan. We stayed 1 week and were looking for a condo because we didn't want to be crammed in a hotel room. The separate living room, bedroom, and balcony gave us the extra space we were looking for and a lot to offer. This condo had everything we could think of: spare linens, spare pool/beach towels, reclining beach chairs, small/large coolers, drink coozies, beach bag, day satchel, soap, bath products, bug spray, trash bags, tourism literature and comfortable bed and futon. Some of that may have been leftover from other tenants and it was convenient to have. The owners are very professional. They respond quickly to inquiries and handle the reservation and security deposit efficiently. My security deposit was issued back to me one day after checking out. This was my first vacation rental and the check-out process was very easy and manageable and didn't take a lot of time. e.g. Put the linens and towels in the condo hamper and bring your trash to the waste room on the floor. We used the condo as our home base to tour Old San Juan, visit Laguna Grande bio bay, El Yunque, and a nearby zip line activity. We rented a car and it was nice to have the included parking in the garage. The condo has nice decor, was very clean, safe, and had a great location across the street from Walgreens and near many restaurants not to mention full beach front views. There is even umbrella/beach lounge chair rental outside the condo beach entrance everyday. Great rental!"

  • Excellent getaway spot

"My wife and I could not have found a better rental location for a week-long birthday getaway in late August 2014. The apartment is clean, well maintained and nicely furnished with spectacular views and a fine beach just outside the doorway. Location is convenient to the airport, and good restaurants are anywhere from a few steps (La Playita) to a few blocks away. For those without a rental car, Old San Juan can be reached by an approximately 60-minute bus ride costing only 75 cents, or by a much shorter cab ride costing roughly $20. We found Hebe Colon and her husband to be extremely helpful and pleasant in facilitating our rental arrangements. Highly recommended."
