"“Beautiful” sums up our three weeks at this condo, and reflects our stay at many levels—the island itself with all of its diversity; the clean, sandy beach in front of the condo; the breath-taking view from the patio where we had coffee and wine; the ideal condo location with respect to historical and recreational sites as well as to close-by grocery stores, restaurants, and car rentals; and last but not least, the condo itself and Gaby, the gracious and helpful owner. This was a family vacation for 3 families, each coming one week to be with their grandparent. The three represented generations all voted it their favorite vacation yet! Beautiful, right?"Guest: SM Date of Stay: March 2014 Review Submitted: April 26, 2014View listing
"My son and I (age 25) have been wanting to go back to the land of both of our Fathers for years. I saved and saved and finally the time had come. Prior to booking at the ESJ Towers I had booked another place that somehow never received my deposit. Yay for Me!!!! Isla Verde is the place to be for a visit to PR. Positive: *Centrally located *Great food within a short distance from location *Amazing beaches *Great price *Clean, secure, and for the most part quiet *Having a kitchen allowed for reheating of food *The resort next door has great live music, gambling & sports bar Negatives: *I DIDNT WANT TO GO HOME (I literally cried when I left)...... Recommendations: *Food - sooooo many places to choose from BUT the one place that we went to ALL the time was Mi Casita (it is located in the little strip mall next to the 24/7 store/Burger King (?). Our favorite meals were El Navidad (Christmas) favorites of pernil (pork), pasteles, arroz con gandules - reminded me of my childhood. The Paella was pretty good and the mofongo was awesome!!!! *Go to 24/7 store for goodies (we bought a case of water, rum, coke, juice, and snacks) - they also have a really good restaurant there and wine on tap *If you are going to rent a car go less than a block away (to your left of the towers) to Quality - see Jose. They had a special for $19.99 per day unlimited for a nice Toyota. *BEFORE you go to the beach, stop by the gym and make arrangements for a beach chair rental. I believe they are $2 per use versus $4 on the beach. *If you have a collapsable thermos (or buy a styrofoam one at the store) bring it. It makes it easier to bring stuff to drink while on the beach. There is only one vendor that sells coconut water, soda and bottled water with some light food. No alcohol sold on the beach unless you walk further down to the bar and I think for a mixed fufu drink my son paid $9 per drink - Ouch! *Take the bus (and bring some patience). The bus is .75 BUT it is on caribbean time - suppose to be every 35 minutes but not a set schedule so you could be waiting for an hour. - And bring change - bus drivers won't make it for you. *Be adventurous. If you get a chance for some beach fried good PR food - go to Pinones. I was craving bacalaitos (sp???) and all the locals said go there. *If you are going next door to dance, bring something to wear. *And, finally when in Old San Juan, across from El Convento try El Batey - dive bar."Guest: Maria D. "This condo was excellent. If anything, the description falls short of the reality. My partner and I stayed here for seven nights. The condo is clean and perfectly stocked, and the location is as beautiful as you can dream up. First, the location--it's on Isla Verde, which is one of the San Juan beaches. It's close to Old San Juan and Pinones, and has just about everything you could want, from casinos to resorts to food, and even a Walgreens that sells everything, including rum, within walking distance, so you could have a great stay without a car. It is on the beach, and the beach here is less crowded than Condado or Ocean Park, the two beaches closer to San Juan. The sand was clean and the water incredibly clear, with some gentle waves most days. There were jet ski rentals further up the beach, but they are kept separate from the swimming. It was a beautiful location--we even saw a couple of iguanas around the common areas. In the bigger picture, it was just moments from a main highway that could take you to any other part of the island, so it's a good base to explore from. We caught the Vieques ferry, climbed Toro Negro, and watched a sunset in Aquadilla, all using the condo as our base. And there is a 24 hour car rental directly across the street, in case you want to rent a car at two in the morning. The condo itself is immaculate. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen very functional and well stocked on dishes and utensils, including blenders and salad spinners. The shower was immaculate, and was the strongest I've found on the island. The towels provided were of great quality. And the view was stunning. The picture can't quite capture it. We spent a lot of time just standing on the balcony staring out to sea, or down at the beach. There was Internet and television. The condo was even decorated well, and had lots of pamphlets and guides on stuff to do. There is a lot of talk about security on Puerto Rico, but there were no concerns here. The condo had security for the building and the parking garage, and we never felt concerned. The owners were excellent communicators, and made everything easy, too. I'd easily recommend this place."Guest: Joby and Martha Date of Stay: August 2014 Review Submitted: August 20, 2014View listing
