  • Perfect vacation!

"Our family of 4 stayed for a week and had a fantastic time! This was our first trip to PR and we debated about staying in San Juan, Rincon, or Fajardo. Fajardo was a good pick because it is near a lot of activities. It’s quiet and right near ocean, but with enough amenities nearby to be comfortable. On the drive from the airport you will pass a wide variety of areas. Pena Mar Ocean Club will be everything you expected and is in a nice area. It is also gated, extremely well maintained, and occupied by a good mix of full time residents and vacationers. Luisa’s apartment is excellent and just as advertised. It is nicely decorated, spacious, comfortable, quiet, and with a nice ocean view from the patio. Everything was sparkling clean. In the morning you can see the sun come up over the water and view of the marina - very picturesque. We were up early every day and too tired to do much at night, so having use of the facilities at Pena Mar was perfect. The basketball court and pools kept our teenagers entertained, and everyone appreciated having the WiFi, flat screens, and comforts of home. There is no food on site so be prepared to get groceries which are about 15 minutes away and not difficult to find. Luisa provides a very detailed book with local recommendations. If you want to try some of the paid tours it’s a good idea to go online and book when you first arrive or in advance. We tried and recommend the East Wind catamaran trip; Pure Adventure Biobay kayaking tour; Carabali Ranch; and Camuy Caves. Our favorite trip was a day trip on the SS Tobias to snorkel off of Culebra. Luisa also knows a local tour guide/driver for day trips. We did this for the Camuy trip and highly recommend."

  • Perfect Choice

"Staying at Malibu Condo Rentals was the perfect choice for our group of 4. the location outside of San Juan allowed us to enjoy the sites and activities in the metro area but have a pleasant retreat at the end of the day. The condo was very comfortable, clean and attractive. It was great to have the pool/patio area for relaxing and the adjacent beach seemed like it was our own private piece of paradise. Visitors definitely need to have a rental car in order to take advantage of all the island's attractions and amenities. All in all the only downside I can think of is that we had to leave!"

  • Second trip to paradise!

"It was so wonderful to arrive in our home, away from home, for a 10 day stay! The whole condo was painted a bright and cheery yellow. We traveled with my 85 yr old parents, 23 yr old son and 11 yr old daughter. The pool was just in the range my Mom can still walk to, we got her there every day. The weather was awesome 84 to 88. We went to several beaches in our area and Playa Montones was our favorite. My husband and kids went cliff diving with some local teenage boys and got the grand tour. The water was only 6 inches deep until you reached a blue hole, snorkeling was great in it. There is even a cave under water. Crash boat beach was also nice, the kids went jet skiing. I can recommend Ola Lola's for dinner and drinks, fabulous Mojitos! Also a lot of craft beers. We also ate at some great local road side stands. Chris's Restaurant on rt. 2 was one of my favorites for italian food. My son had on a tank top and they gave him a t shirt to wear, for proper dining dress code, lol. Pricey but good. Our favorite place to hang out was on the porch, watching and hearing the crash of the waves. Ahhh..."

Puerto Rico Travel Tips

Visitors to Puerto Rico Vacation Rentals

Puerto Rico is a vibrant Caribbean island travel destination. It is a place where you can enjoy beautiful beaches, fine dining, a wide variety of water sports and a number of nature attractions. People who generally travel to Puerto Rico are attracted by the persistent sunshine and tropical island paradise. Depending on if you enjoy the vibrant resort-style vacation or something more remote and quiet, you can choose which part of the island you want to stay on. Relax on the beaches during the day and then hit the nightspots for some dancing in the evenings.

Best Time of Year to Visit Puerto Rico Villas

The most popular travel season to Puerto Rico is between December and April. During this time, visitors can expect hot sunny days with very little rainfall. In general, this is considered to be the dry season, although occasional rain showers do still occur. Another reason that this is a popular time of year to visit is that the humidity levels are lower. The warm weather also attracts many visitors from New York City, Boston and Chicago who want to escape the winter freeze. In general, there is little seasonal variation in the temperature in Puerto Rico. The seasons are more often defined by the humidity and rainfall. From May through October, the amount of rainfall increases, making the air muggy and sticky. This makes it feel as though it is much hotter. From July to October, tropical storms sometimes hit the islands, bringing heavy rainfall and strong winds. This is typically the low tourist season in Puerto Rico.

Getting to Puerto Rico Resort Rentals

The main airport on Puerto Rico is located just nine miles from San Juan. The Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport hosts frequent international flights from North America, Europe, South America and neighboring Caribbean destinations. As a U.S. foreign territory, flights from America are viewed as regional rather than international flights. San Juan is a major travel hub in the Caribbean for travelers from the United States. There are regular commercial flights from most major cities, including Miami, New York City, Atlanta and Houston. If you cannot find a direct flight connection from your hometown, you may consider finding flights that route via one of these main travel hubs. In total, there are 29 airports in Puerto Rico, most of them hosting regional and domestic flights. Getting around the island is fairly easy. There is a metro rail system that serves the greater San Juan Metropolitan area. It is also relatively easy to hire a car to explore the island. Be aware that traffic can get pretty congested in urban areas.

Caribbean Vacation Rentals in Puerto Rico

There are some definite advantages to renting a vacation home in Puerto Rico. If you have a large group of friends traveling together or are planning a wedding, you can secure a villa that is spacious enough to accommodate everyone. You can wake up each morning in the privacy of your own home and enjoy breakfast out on the deck. Many of the villas are fully serviced with housekeepers who can take care of all the household tasks including cleaning, shopping and preparing meals. Most of the vacation homes are beautifully furnished with stylish finishes and top-of-the-range appliances.
