  • Wonderful Stay at #210607

"Six adults spent a week at this beautiful condo in the Marbella section of Palmas Del Mar. This third floor (there is an elevator in the complex) condo is beautiful, and has all amenities you will need. Kitchen is well equipped, full refrigerator with ice maker, towels for both shower and poolside use, boogie boards, washer and dryer to name just a few items. Two of the bedrooms have king sized beds. The third bedroom has two twin beds. They have a den with a pull out sofa as well. There are two balconies, one large off the living room/dining area and a second smaller one off the second bedroom. Both have spectacular views and wonderful breezes. We were there in February and never had a bug problem. There are two pools that with the Marbella section. One that is smaller and mostly shaded and another large, three level pool with plenty of comfortable chairs. Small round tables and large tables with umbrellas are also at these pools. There is no life guard, the pool doesn't get more than 4 feet deep. For children there is a Beach Club but can't use it on weekends or holidays. Monday thru Friday you can use it but there is a $15 per person fee. We were all adults and really didn't need or want to use this area. If you had children you would probably like it as it has a small water park area with slides. Note there is a beach bar and a restaurant at the Beach Club that you do not have to pay the fee to go too. The restaurant is Ok for a lunch and serves the same food at the beach bar which is right on the ocean. The beach area has been washed away a bit since last year so don't expect a long wide beach area. We did swim a lot in the ocean and it has firm sandy bottom and is shallow for quite a ways out. We had a lot of wave action while their and had a blast boogie boarding. If you have children you do have to be careful at times there was a strong undertow. We had a car so got around the Palmas complex by car but A LOT of people have golf cars and get around that way on the designated golf paths. There are at least 15 restaurants on site; some good some just OK. We enjoyed the Beer Garden restaurant near the plaza, and the Tapas restaurant and Chez Daniel on the other side of the marina. Since we had a car we ventured out several times to explore the island. We always felt safe. The Owners were great to work with patiently answering our questions. He also gave us his phone to call if problems while on site."

  • Great location and great view

"I love the view from the balcony and easy access to the rain forest, food kiosk, stores, nearby surfing, snorkling and ferry dock. Brandi was so helpful to all our needs. The AC was a little too loud but kept it cool. And the unit had boogie boards, cooler, snorkeling gears, beach chairs and lots of beach towels."

  • Prime Location and Beautiful Apartment!

"This is a very nice and clean apartment. The location is great, building is very secure and safe. It is fully fully stocked with all you need. I would definitely stay here again. Forget those over priced resort hotels, this place is way better! Rent a car for a couple days to sightsee then take the rest of your stay to relax on the beautiful beach just walking minutes away. My husband and I were very pleased and we can't brag enough about our stay. Thank You!"

  • Simply Wonderful!

"Our family of 4 (two adults, 2 teen boys) escaped the winter snow in the northeast and spent 5 nights at the Tropical Jewel. This property is owned by a lovely, caring, very helpful and responsive owner, Yvonne. The condo is perfectly situated facing the ocean. The photos on the site are accurate but the view from the sliding glass doors is something you need to experience for yourself! With the glass doors of the main living area open we felt like we were literally on the beach. What an amazing treat to have that view all day. The location of the condo is ideal; 10 minutes from the San Juan airport, in walking distance from restuarants, markets, liquor stores, convenenience stores, an ice cream shop, the car rental place, the El San Juan Hotel and Casino, the Water Beach Club and so much more. You do not really need to have a car if you stay here. There are taxis always available and the local bus is inexpensive and is close by. We did end up renting a jeep for one day and exploring the El Yunque rainforest and the easternmost tip of the island. There are 3 restaurants located directly underneath the condo. Our boys loved being able to get their own food and drinks and take it out on the beach. I recommend the strawberry mojitos at El Alambique! There are air conditioning units in each of the bedrooms which made sleeping pleasant and helped to drown out the sounds of pigeons who like to congregate near the window and coo early in the morning. The condo was clean and had everything we needed. We ate breakfasts and lunches at the condo and typically went out for dinners. In addition to El Yunque, we took a day trip to Old San Juan where we toured El Morro and soaked in the sights and sounds of the town. We would highly recommend dinner at AquaViva in Old San Juan. We would definitely recommend this property friends and relatives. We felt safe and secure with the condo security system and were happy to have a local contact, Francisco, (the owner's property manager) in the case of any questions or emergency that may come up. Overall, this is great property, is a very good value and has everything you could need to enjoy the beauty of Isla Verde and beyond."

Puerto Rico Travel Tips

Visitors to Puerto Rico Vacation Rentals

Puerto Rico is a vibrant Caribbean island travel destination. It is a place where you can enjoy beautiful beaches, fine dining, a wide variety of water sports and a number of nature attractions. People who generally travel to Puerto Rico are attracted by the persistent sunshine and tropical island paradise. Depending on if you enjoy the vibrant resort-style vacation or something more remote and quiet, you can choose which part of the island you want to stay on. Relax on the beaches during the day and then hit the nightspots for some dancing in the evenings.

Best Time of Year to Visit Puerto Rico Villas

The most popular travel season to Puerto Rico is between December and April. During this time, visitors can expect hot sunny days with very little rainfall. In general, this is considered to be the dry season, although occasional rain showers do still occur. Another reason that this is a popular time of year to visit is that the humidity levels are lower. The warm weather also attracts many visitors from New York City, Boston and Chicago who want to escape the winter freeze. In general, there is little seasonal variation in the temperature in Puerto Rico. The seasons are more often defined by the humidity and rainfall. From May through October, the amount of rainfall increases, making the air muggy and sticky. This makes it feel as though it is much hotter. From July to October, tropical storms sometimes hit the islands, bringing heavy rainfall and strong winds. This is typically the low tourist season in Puerto Rico.

Getting to Puerto Rico Resort Rentals

The main airport on Puerto Rico is located just nine miles from San Juan. The Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport hosts frequent international flights from North America, Europe, South America and neighboring Caribbean destinations. As a U.S. foreign territory, flights from America are viewed as regional rather than international flights. San Juan is a major travel hub in the Caribbean for travelers from the United States. There are regular commercial flights from most major cities, including Miami, New York City, Atlanta and Houston. If you cannot find a direct flight connection from your hometown, you may consider finding flights that route via one of these main travel hubs. In total, there are 29 airports in Puerto Rico, most of them hosting regional and domestic flights. Getting around the island is fairly easy. There is a metro rail system that serves the greater San Juan Metropolitan area. It is also relatively easy to hire a car to explore the island. Be aware that traffic can get pretty congested in urban areas.

Caribbean Vacation Rentals in Puerto Rico

There are some definite advantages to renting a vacation home in Puerto Rico. If you have a large group of friends traveling together or are planning a wedding, you can secure a villa that is spacious enough to accommodate everyone. You can wake up each morning in the privacy of your own home and enjoy breakfast out on the deck. Many of the villas are fully serviced with housekeepers who can take care of all the household tasks including cleaning, shopping and preparing meals. Most of the vacation homes are beautifully furnished with stylish finishes and top-of-the-range appliances. Multiple bedrooms and bathrooms ensure that everyone in your travel party can enjoy a level of privacy. Enjoy a vacation on your own time where you don't need to get up in time for breakfast if you don't want to. It is the best way to enjoy vacation on this tropical island.
