  • Beautiful Condo

"Spent 5 nights here in late February. The location and condo is excellent. Beautiful and tastefully upgraded 3rd floor unit. The entire condo is huge with lots of room to relax and enjoy the distant ocean view. The photos accurately reflect the condo. We loved the rooftop patio with BBQ and full kitchen. Nicely maintained in safe quiet neighbourhood. Easy walking distance to lots of stores, restaurants and short taxi ride to Old San Juan. We used it as our base to explore the island. Returning each night to prepare meals and enjoy drinks on the rooftop patio. The owner was a pleasure to work with through the entire process. We would highly recommend this unit for your stay in San Juan."

  • Even more amazing in person

"Romina's home is amazing. It was even more than what we expected in person than what the pictures shows everyone. We went with 11 family members and had more than enough room for everyone. The home was just that, felt like a home. She offered many amenities that other homes do not offer. It was kept clean and plenty of cleaning products in the home to keep it this way. It was comforting to know that she has a family member next door for assistance. Palmas Del Mar has everything you need close by; A casino, movie nights for the kids, boat charters, small grocery store. If that is not enough, Walmart and a shopping plaza is less than 5 miles away. We did a lot of driving for sight seeing and no matter where we went it was less than 75 minutes away. Romina, thank you for everything and for opening up your home to weary travelers. You are a blessing for those that need a home away from home. I will most assuredly be renting again."

  • Great Place, met our needs

"Two families (3 of the adults - lawyers with 5 kids total (ages 5-10)), shared this place. I think the pictures are exactly what you get (no better or worse). I don't know if it was the week we went or what, but we were alone at the pools almost the entire time. The beach club next door - same - alone (seriously). You are as close to the ocean as humanly possible, but be aware, the beach doesn't have any real beach. Its sandy and nice waves and nice to swim in, but there isn't much of a tide, so you sand castle building, etc.. The unit is very open air and really was great for us. The bigger complex, Palmas Del Mar had everything you need. Numerous restaurants, deep sea fishing (most of us got sick, but it was fun going to monkey island), and horse back riding along the beach was fantastic. Humacao was the wrong side of El Junque, so you have to drive all the way around it, but its still only a 45 minute drive. We went to Calebra Island by ferry, which was fun and easy. We went to Luquido (spelling) beach, which was also nice. Be forewarned, everything in PR was inexpensive except meals. The meals were extremely expensive, for some reason. We would definitely go back to this unit/resort and PR. We had a great experience and trip. I did not give this place 5 stars b/c it was a little hassle getting the beach passes and checking in was slightly more complicated than I would have liked (again, not impossible, but not perfect either). The complex consierge and security guards (you go through two separate gates to get in) were extremely nice and very helpful, as was Anna, the property manager."

  • Great vacation home for families and large groups!

"Pirates Cove worked great for our group of 7 adults and 2 children. There is plenty of space indoors and outdoors that allowed us to be together as a group and also have our own space as well. The setup worked great having the bedrooms downstairs and the living area upstairs especially at night when the kids went to sleep early. We loved having the washer and dryer available for our use and we used the grill practically every day and night. There were plenty of bath and beach towels, linens, kitchenware, and everything else we needed. The pool area and backyard are great. The hot tub is not heated which was odd at first but it didn't really matter since it was so warm out. The grounds have such a tropical feel with beautiful palm trees and other fruit trees (bananas, starfruit, etc.) Every afternoon we would watch from the upstairs porch all the iguanas bathing at the top of the palm trees. And every night we fell asleep to the sounds of the coqui. The beach nearby was unfortunately full of seaweed and the waters were too rough for swimming. Also, the rocky path leading down to the beach area wasn't too inviting and was tough with young kids. Nevertheless, it was nice to have a beach so close and we enjoyed scouring the sand for sea glass and sea shells. We took advantage of a couple other beaches nearby- highly recommend taking a sailing trip to beautiful Icacos Island. We enjoyed horseback riding and a deep sea fishing trip at Palmas del Mar and also did some great day trips to Old San Juan and El Yunque Rainforest. We had a tough time finding really good restaurants in the area- there are a couple in Palmas del Mar. But mostly we ate at the house- there are plenty of supermarkets (including a huge Walmart) nearby for groceries. The owner was very accessible whenever we had questions. We had an issue with one of the air conditioners but he was able to help resolve it. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!"

Puerto Rico Travel Tips

Visitors to Puerto Rico Vacation Rentals

Puerto Rico is a vibrant Caribbean island travel destination. It is a place where you can enjoy beautiful beaches, fine dining, a wide variety of water sports and a number of nature attractions. People who generally travel to Puerto Rico are attracted by the persistent sunshine and tropical island paradise. Depending on if you enjoy the vibrant resort-style vacation or something more remote and quiet, you can choose which part of the island you want to stay on. Relax on the beaches during the day and then hit the nightspots for some dancing in the evenings.

Best Time of Year to Visit Puerto Rico Villas

The most popular travel season to Puerto Rico is between December and April. During this time, visitors can expect hot sunny days with very little rainfall. In general, this is considered to be the dry season, although occasional rain showers do still occur. Another reason that this is a popular time of year to visit is that the humidity levels are lower. The warm weather also attracts many visitors from New York City, Boston and Chicago who want to escape the winter freeze. In general, there is little seasonal variation in the temperature in Puerto Rico. The seasons are more often defined by the humidity and rainfall. From May through October, the amount of rainfall increases, making the air muggy and sticky. This makes it feel as though it is much hotter. From July to October, tropical storms sometimes hit the islands, bringing heavy rainfall and strong winds. This is typically the low tourist season in Puerto Rico.

Getting to Puerto Rico Resort Rentals

The main airport on Puerto Rico is located just nine miles from San Juan. The Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport hosts frequent international flights from North America, Europe, South America and neighboring Caribbean destinations. As a U.S. foreign territory, flights from America are viewed as regional rather than international flights. San Juan is a major travel hub in the Caribbean for travelers from the United States. There are regular commercial flights from most major cities, including Miami, New York City, Atlanta and Houston. If you cannot find a direct flight connection from your hometown, you may consider finding flights that route via one of these main travel hubs. In total, there are 29 airports in Puerto Rico, most of them hosting regional and domestic flights. Getting around the island is fairly easy. There is a metro rail system that serves the greater San Juan Metropolitan area. It is also relatively easy to hire a car to explore the island. Be aware that traffic can get pretty congested in urban areas.

Caribbean Vacation Rentals in Puerto Rico

There are some definite advantages to renting a vacation home in Puerto Rico. If you have a large group of friends traveling together or are planning a wedding, you can secure a villa that is spacious enough to accommodate everyone. You can wake up each morning in the privacy of your own home and enjoy breakfast out on the deck. Many of the villas are fully serviced with housekeepers who can take care of all the household tasks including cleaning, shopping and preparing meals. Most of the vacation homes are beautifully furnished with stylish finishes and top-of-the-range appliances. Multiple bedrooms and bathrooms ensure that everyone in your travel party can enjoy a level of privacy. Enjoy a vacation on your own time where you don't need to get up in time for breakfast if you don't want to. It is the best way to enjoy vacation on this tropical island.
