"Stayed March 20th to March 25th. This was our first rental property in Puerto Rico. For the location and our large family you could not beat the price. The owners, Luis and Christina were fantastic as all the other reviews have stated. They gave us loads of ideas of what to do, where to go and the best routes to get there. We rented the top 3 bedroom floor which had plenty of space and a great patio. Some problems arose during our stay but Luis was easy to contact and available. PRO’s: Great hospitality from owners. Plenty of room for the 7 of us on the top floor. Had good TV selections, Ruko, Hulo for kids to enjoy during down times. Clean. My wife and I had dinner (Salitre restaurant) with Luis and Christina one night and they treated us like we were part of their family and made us feel right at home. Thank you Luis and Christina my wife and I appreciated it very much. :) We had to extend our stay by a day and Luis and Christina were very accommodating. CON’s: On a busy street (during our stay) which made it tough to get in/out of driveway."Guest: Greg and Chris Date of Stay: March 2014 Review Submitted: April 3, 2014View listing
"Upon arrival we were met by Luis, who told us we would be in the penthouse (top floor, 3 bedroom unit with one bed/bath locked out). Luis gave us the tour and told us where to park (gated and covered). There were 2 boogie boards waiting in the unit for our 2 autistic boys. Muchas Gracias Xavier! The view of the beach and pool out the front was awesome and the side deck on this unit had a great view of El Yunque. Both Luis and Xavier answered any questions almost immediately by texts and were always helpful. Rio Mar is a great location, as the rainforest entrance is literally across the street (a rental car is a must). There are grocery stores, drug stores, restaurants, Walmart, etc. all within a short drive. Many good restaurants off site, but only a short drive. Some favorite restaurants were Boardriders in Loquillo, Richie's (great view, vicious bugs, good food, resort priced), Iguana pub at the golf course and the pub on the beach at the Wyndham. Having your own kitchen was an added convenience for a family with 4 kids. A day trip to San Juan is an easy drive on good roads. Old San Juan and El Morro are must sees. We rented wave runners right at the Wyndham beach (they have surf boards and other toys for rent as well). The surf was good for boogie boarding, but not too big to worry about our 7 and 10 year olds getting swept out to sea! The beach was pretty clean and quite deserted in the villa end. Even on July 4th weekend, the villas and resort were not overly crowded. Our children had the infinity pool to themselves much of the first three days. Overall, a great value and a nice location. I would recommend this property to a friend. The listing photos are accurate of the villa and the villa was clean. It did show some age and weather wear, as do most resorts of this age in the Caribbean. Just some rusted metal, etc. The pools were well kept and clean and we never felt unsafe, as there are security guards and a gate to get in the Wyndham property. Thanks Xavier for a great vacation villa!"Guest: Stephen S. Date of Stay: June 2014 Review Submitted: July 16, 2014View listing
"My wife and I could not have found a better rental location for a week-long birthday getaway in late August 2014. The apartment is clean, well maintained and nicely furnished with spectacular views and a fine beach just outside the doorway. Location is convenient to the airport, and good restaurants are anywhere from a few steps (La Playita) to a few blocks away. For those without a rental car, Old San Juan can be reached by an approximately 60-minute bus ride costing only 75 cents, or by a much shorter cab ride costing roughly $20. We found Hebe Colon and her husband to be extremely helpful and pleasant in facilitating our rental arrangements. Highly recommended."Guest: Frequent Traveler Date of Stay: August 2014 Review Submitted: August 31, 2014View listing
"We just returned from a trip to Rincon for my friends' wedding and the group of six of us stayed in Villa 3 Upper for four nights...and it was absolutely perfect! The apartment has stunning views, is beautifully furnished and decorated, and had more than enough space for our group. The private outdoor space for Villa 3 Upper far exceeded my expectations and the guys in my group needed to be dragged off of the shared roofdeck every evening. The pool isn't huge, but you're on the beach...so in my mind, the beautiful pool and hot tub is just icing on the warm sand cake. After traveling for the six days prior to arriving in Rincon, the washer and dryer were a huge bonus as well. I fully appreciate what other people had said about the tides taking away most of the sandy space directly in front of the villa, but you can walk three minutes down the beach to get a wider sandy area. We walked up the beach a few times to get to the slightly busier area near the hotels, but I am beyond happy we chose to stay where we did. It was easy to get into the center of town and I appreciated having just the noise of the waves and roosters each morning. And I absolutely loved the beds. We only had one small hitch when we tried microwaving bacon (my friend Ryan's first mistake) while the dishwasher was running, but got an immediate answer at the office where we were directed to the fuse box. As for any concerns around safety, I didn't feel unsafe for a minute and it takes half a second to lock the doors every time you leave the house. No crimes of opportunity for this group! I would recommend Sunset Paradise Villas to anyone looking to stay in a beautiful, clean, nicely located place in Rincon."Guest: Molly D. Puerto Rico Travel Tips
Visitors to Puerto Rico Vacation Rentals
Puerto Rico is a vibrant Caribbean island travel destination. It is a place where you can enjoy beautiful beaches, fine dining, a wide variety of water sports and a number of nature attractions. People who generally travel to Puerto Rico are attracted by the persistent sunshine and tropical island paradise. Depending on if you enjoy the vibrant resort-style vacation or something more remote and quiet, you can choose which part of the island you want to stay on. Relax on the beaches during the day and then hit the nightspots for some dancing in the evenings.
Best Time of Year to Visit Puerto Rico Villas
The most popular travel season to Puerto Rico is between December and April. During this time, visitors can expect hot sunny days with very little rainfall. In general, this is considered to be the dry season, although occasional rain showers do still occur. Another reason that this is a popular time of year to visit is that the humidity levels are lower. The warm weather also attracts many visitors from New York City, Boston and Chicago who want to escape the winter freeze. In general, there is little seasonal variation in the temperature in Puerto Rico. The seasons are more often defined by the humidity and rainfall. From May through October, the amount of rainfall increases, making the air muggy and sticky. This makes it feel as though it is much hotter. From July to October, tropical storms sometimes hit the islands, bringing heavy rainfall and strong winds. This is typically the low tourist season in Puerto Rico.
Getting to Puerto Rico Resort Rentals
The main airport on Puerto Rico is located just nine miles from San Juan. The Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport hosts frequent international flights from North America, Europe, South America and neighboring Caribbean destinations. As a U.S. foreign territory, flights from America are viewed as regional rather than international flights. San Juan is a major travel hub in the Caribbean for travelers from the United States. There are regular commercial flights from most major cities, including Miami, New York City, Atlanta and Houston. If you cannot find a direct flight connection from your hometown, you may consider finding flights that route via one of these main travel hubs. In total, there are 29 airports in Puerto Rico, most of them hosting regional and domestic flights. Getting around the island is fairly easy. There is a metro rail system that serves the greater San Juan Metropolitan area. It is also relatively easy to hire a car to explore the island. Be aware that traffic can get pretty congested in urban areas.
