  • Felicidades Rincon

"My two daughters and I had a great time for a week at Doc's in Rincon over the holidays 2013. Great place with the Lazy Parrot, Banana dang coffee shop and poolside La Familia pizza an easy walk away. The house was comfy and had great views and Cheo was very helpful. Every place Doc recommended was great from food to surf rentals. We especially enjoyed Casa Islena for breakfast and lunch (great subs) beside the sea, Calypso for mojito Monday and fish burritos, and Cofresi for la piratas. Surf was challenging for us 'rookies' but still fun and snorkeling at Steps beach was awesome. Met so many great people (many who knew Doc). We hope to come back someday. Felicidades."

  • "Warning, family vacation in progress"

"My father passed away in Dec. and we talked about taking a trip to Puerto Rico. My whole family got together and Diane graced us with a beautiful place to stay! The house was more than we imagined. The decor was amazing, creating this wonderful ambience for our family to gather. Diane was a great hostess and gave us some incredible tips! Diane also took a few family photos, which again was one of the many ways she showed her hospitality and generosity. The views and location were outstanding. We would highly recommend this "casita". With a view. Thanks again Diane!"

  • Great vacation home for families and large groups!

"Pirates Cove worked great for our group of 7 adults and 2 children. There is plenty of space indoors and outdoors that allowed us to be together as a group and also have our own space as well. The setup worked great having the bedrooms downstairs and the living area upstairs especially at night when the kids went to sleep early. We loved having the washer and dryer available for our use and we used the grill practically every day and night. There were plenty of bath and beach towels, linens, kitchenware, and everything else we needed. The pool area and backyard are great. The hot tub is not heated which was odd at first but it didn't really matter since it was so warm out. The grounds have such a tropical feel with beautiful palm trees and other fruit trees (bananas, starfruit, etc.) Every afternoon we would watch from the upstairs porch all the iguanas bathing at the top of the palm trees. And every night we fell asleep to the sounds of the coqui. The beach nearby was unfortunately full of seaweed and the waters were too rough for swimming. Also, the rocky path leading down to the beach area wasn't too inviting and was tough with young kids. Nevertheless, it was nice to have a beach so close and we enjoyed scouring the sand for sea glass and sea shells. We took advantage of a couple other beaches nearby- highly recommend taking a sailing trip to beautiful Icacos Island. We enjoyed horseback riding and a deep sea fishing trip at Palmas del Mar and also did some great day trips to Old San Juan and El Yunque Rainforest. We had a tough time finding really good restaurants in the area- there are a couple in Palmas del Mar. But mostly we ate at the house- there are plenty of supermarkets (including a huge Walmart) nearby for groceries. The owner was very accessible whenever we had questions. We had an issue with one of the air conditioners but he was able to help resolve it. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!"

  • Amazing getaway!!!. Perfect location

"I am originally from Puerto Rico and visit the Island twice a year. I have stayed in numerous places around the island. I must say this is the best overall when you take location of the Villa, accommodations (Gorgeous place), and easy access to many beautiful sites within the island. El Yunke rainforest was so close that we were able to hike it just about every morning before heading to the beach. So many great restaurants withing short driving distance with amazing “comida criolla" food- ie. La Parilla. Luquillo beach, Los Kioskos, Fajardo, La Parquera , easy drive to the ferry that’ll take you to Culebra's Flamenco Beach and I could go on and on and again all these places are within easy access/drive from Rio Mar. The villa was amazing, a lot better than advertised. It is a spacious place with an amazing view. We soaked in the view every morning while having our coffee and breakfast- ah the best. The kitchen was perfect with everything you need to cook a great meal. I could go on and on about the villa which truly is a home away from home. The owner was so friendly and caring, we were received at the villa even late at night. The place was all ready for us to enjoy. Eva's(Owner) main goal was for us to enjoy our stay, she call me during the stay to be sure we were having fun and enjoying the place. We found our next destination!! Thank you Ah Almost forgot - The golf course is amazing. Yes,18 holes of golf by the ocean is a must do."

Puerto Rico Travel Tips

Visitors to Puerto Rico Vacation Rentals

Puerto Rico is a vibrant Caribbean island travel destination. It is a place where you can enjoy beautiful beaches, fine dining, a wide variety of water sports and a number of nature attractions. People who generally travel to Puerto Rico are attracted by the persistent sunshine and tropical island paradise. Depending on if you enjoy the vibrant resort-style vacation or something more remote and quiet, you can choose which part of the island you want to stay on. Relax on the beaches during the day and then hit the nightspots for some dancing in the evenings.

Best Time of Year to Visit Puerto Rico Villas

The most popular travel season to Puerto Rico is between December and April. During this time, visitors can expect hot sunny days with very little rainfall. In general, this is considered to be the dry season, although occasional rain showers do still occur. Another reason that this is a popular time of year to visit is that the humidity levels are lower. The warm weather also attracts many visitors from New York City, Boston and Chicago who want to escape the winter freeze. In general, there is little seasonal variation in the temperature in Puerto Rico. The seasons are more often defined by the humidity and rainfall. From May through October, the amount of rainfall increases, making the air muggy and sticky. This makes it feel as though it is much hotter. From July to October, tropical storms sometimes hit the islands, bringing heavy rainfall and strong winds. This is typically the low tourist season in Puerto Rico.

Getting to Puerto Rico Resort Rentals

The main airport on Puerto Rico is located just nine miles from San Juan. The Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport hosts frequent international flights from North America, Europe, South America and neighboring Caribbean destinations. As a U.S. foreign territory, flights from America are viewed as regional rather than international flights. San Juan is a major travel hub in the Caribbean for travelers from the United States. There are regular commercial flights from most major cities, including Miami, New York City, Atlanta and Houston. If you cannot find a direct flight connection from your hometown, you may consider finding flights that route via one of these main travel hubs. In total, there are 29 airports in Puerto Rico, most of them hosting regional and domestic flights. Getting around the island is fairly easy. There is a metro rail system that serves the greater San Juan Metropolitan area. It is also relatively easy to hire a car to explore the island. Be aware that traffic can get pretty congested in urban areas.
