"Had a wonderful time staying at Banana Wind. This modern, concrete house is designed by a locally known architect and well appointed and maintained with great amenities including professional range, outdoor grill and fridge, alarm system, washer and dryer, wireless and satellite radio. It was a convenient location and a perfect size for the three of us! The house had a beautiful swimming pool- although the water was too cold to use during our recent stay. Great views from all rooms and rooftop. The house looks quite large from the exterior but really only comfortably accommodates 3 or 4 people. Our only major criticism was that there was no living room or place to hang out or eat or entertain indoors (other than a counter with two barstools and small sofa). The caretaker and owner were very responsive and helpful when contacted. We would definitely stay here again!"Guest: Anonymous Date of Stay: January 2014 Review Submitted: January 22, 2014View listing
"Just got back from our wonderful vacation to Vieques. This home has an amazing panoramic view from its huge front patio. Definitely our favorite part of the house. The beds were very comfortable and the house came with a pack and play which was very useful. Kitchen was well equipped and cabinets had "leftover" seasoning/oil/ etc from previous renters which was useful.. We also added to that by leaving what we couldn't take with us. There were plenty of coconuts to snack on. We had a rental car and were able to tour the island a little bit. (Most side roads are not paved and can be very bumpy). Our favorite beach was half moon. Would have liked to visit Blue beach, but was closed along with some others. I read they were closing for a few months to clean up military debris. Unfortunately we weren't able to do a bio bay tour (full moon), but will hopefully be back and can plan that for our next trip. Overall had an amazing vacation and would absolutely stay at this house again. FYI/Suggestions for the house..... only 2 of the 3 bedrooms have AC. It did get very hot/humid at night and we had to pull one of the mattresses into another room to sleep. The shower in the hallway bathroom has such poor water pressure we had to all use the master bath to shower. Not a big deal and I'm sure It could easily be fixed. Some of the beach chairs are broken/rusty. Again not a big deal since we spent most of our time on the crystal clear water!"Guest: Ann D. "Mi MaCondo is the perfect place to stay in Vieques! The house and the grounds are absolutely beautiful. The property owner Wynne is top-notch. She went out of her way to help us before and during our stay in Vieques. Mi Macondo added to the magic of being on such a beautiful island, and I would not stay any place else if I returned. The house and the property are wonderful. We were married during our stay on the island, and we had our wedding dinner catered on the property. Wynne helped us with a referral for two amazing chefs that catered a fantastic wedding dinner for us. The property manager is the neighbor, and she is available immediately for any questions or concerns. Wynne personally met us on our first evening in San Juan and gave us very valuable advice about snorkeling, grocery stores, cooking and dining, and navigating the island. She went above and beyond, and the property was much better than you can even imagine. The pictures do not do it justice. You will not regret booking this lovely home in Paradise!"Guest: Anna A. "This trip was the most relaxing & comfortable vacation I've ever had! We came for a Mother-Daughter vacation. Last time I stayed in El Conquistador, $300+ a night resort. While We had a great view there, & fancy air conditioned room, it paled in comparison to Hilltop. I would have slept in a tent on the HUGE veranda just for the AMAZING view! Second to the amazing views was the privacy between the two bedrooms. The second bedroom was an attached casita. It had its own entrance from the veranda. Lots of privacy! Perfect for two couples, parents wanting a little sanctuary to themselves, also my mom & I, She snores like a freight train. The beds are huge, enough for 3 lol, REALLY comfortable, with down pillows. Both rooms had full sized closets including plenty of hangers. The 2 bathrooms were clean, well decorated, plenty of towels & the main one had a deep tub (lots of storage too). In fact the whole apartment was well decorated; heavy wood carved furniture in every room. The kitchen has everything you might need and you aren't far from a grocery. In fact, you aren't far from anything. Centrally located; all the bays you can see from the veranda are the best beaches on the island, maybe 15min away. 4 were even voted top beaches in 2013 by Tripadvisor! On the other side, you can see Isabel Segunda (where the ferry docks). in the distance, on a clear day, you can see all the way to the main island & Culebra. Seriously! You have 360 degrees of unobstructed amazing views. Starting from the moment I woke up, I could see the ocean out my bedroom window. Then I'd take my morning coffee to the veranda and take in the view. Trade winds to cool you at night, beautiful views to wake up too... We expected to run down to the beaches, but we just spent the first few hours of the day on the veranda. -In full disclosure, the negatives (while few), were; really only room for one car to park, had hot showers 90% of the time, the only real problem was the wifi. It only worked along the back wall, so in my bedroom and on the couch. Lol While & will hopefully enjoy the sounds of the Coquis as you fall asleep, FYI you will hear dogs barking & roosters from all over the island. Still wouldn't keep me away from hilltop though! The animals are part of the charm of this island! Of course I have to mention Barry, he was extremely helpful and hospitable. He lives downstairs, but is very quiet, so no interference with your privacy. He will text if you need to communicate."Guest: Isabel4evraNomad Date of Stay: March 2014 Review Submitted: March 18, 2014View listing
