  • I can't wait to go back!

"My stay at La Finca was the highlight of my Puerto Rico vacation. The staff was kind and helpful, not to mention generous. Our room was paradise. Mangos fell outside our door, we ate starfruit off of the trees, used the free snorkeling gear, and checked out the recommended local eateries. La Finca is beautiful, and I can't wait to go back!"

  • I fell in love with Esperanza

"The owners, Anne and Joe, were great. This was my first time renting a home for a vacation and was a bit nervous trusting a stranger but I could tell off the bat I was in good hands. They returned emails and phone calls quickly. The house managers, Mimi and Popp were wonderful. We communicated with ease by email prior to our arrival and by phone, text and, of course, in-person once we arrived. Popp gave us a great introduction to the island including restaurant, beach and activity recommendations, I won't go over everything he touched upon but it was thorough. He made it clear that that we were to contact him or Mimi if we had any questions or concerns and that they were always available. The house was just as described. My family and I loved the outdoor spaces and would read and people watch (not there were a lot of people walking by. It was mostly horses) on the front porch and grilled out and relaxed in the shade on the back porch. There is a gated driveway but we always just parked on the street. The house had everything we needed for our many trips to the beaches. Towels, umbrella, coolers of various sizes made our days at the pristine beaches (Media Luna was our favorite) very comfortable. The bedrooms were air conditioned and nice cross breezes kept us cool during the days. I liked that the kitchen and living area were open to each other and the kitchen island was a great place to plot out our day. As far as safety goes, Popp will go over everything with you but I can honestly say I never felt unsafe. Don't leave your common sense at home. I really did nothing here that I didn't already do at home (lock the doors, don't leave valuables on the beach etc.)The neighborhood looked different than mine but was filled with friendly locals and visitors. When I walked to the bakery alone I was greeted with smiles and nods along the way. My husband, our 4 year old and I were there for 10 days and filled them with trips to the beach, Sugar Mill ruins, malecon (lots of restaurants, shops, beautiful views), Isabel II, Bio Bay, Mosquito Pier, eating at the food trucks and Smokey's,sea glass treasure hunting among other things. The island is a special place and Esperanza is a gem on the island and this home is a perfect temporary home."

  • Great for families, Beautiful beaches!

"We were a group of 7, traveling with my great grandparents, and our three young children. Pura Vida was wonderful because we were able to rent their 8 person SUV and didn't need to travel with tons of baby and kid items (very helpful with 25lb/person baggage limit for the flight to the island). Jeff's information packet was thorough, and communication was fast and polite. Beaches are gorgeous, with a great variety. Malecon restaurants are a little pricey for our family every day, but we enjoyed the local food trucks on the weekend, and sandwiches, pan de sabao, and other treats from La Viequense and Dulce Esperanza. Well-stocked kitchen, and Jeff said he is buying new pans after I told him that the non-stick pans were in poor condition. Caretakers Joe and Mimi were friendly and helpful and easy to contact. One minor problem is the only TV is in the master bedroom, which my great grandparents were using so kids couldn't watch a movie without intruding, but luckily the free wifi was fast and reliable to stream Netflix on our iPads; plenty of time to watch movies at home during the snowstorms anyway, so sit on the porch and listen to the coquis. Only real negative, and we were warned, but in case you don't know: there are Roosters! and during our stay it was rooster raising season and there were many in the house behind us. Good news is the ac fans covered most of their noise. They are every where on the island so this isn't a negative about the house, just a minor cultural inconvenience for tourists on Vieques. We were too tired after a day at some of the most beautiful beaches in the world to care. Pura Vida is a great home base for your Vieques vacation."

  • Great neighborhood home

"We stayed 5 nights in the lower unit of Casa Jenny and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We appreciated Kikito's picking us up and returning us to the ferry, as well as his pointing out items of interest on the drive. The house was convenient to every thing we needed and provided all the necessities - the washer and drier were a real bonus! It was fun to have extras like the rafts, snorkels, puzzles, etc., to make our stay more fun (especially on the several rainy days we experienced). Living like a local does include sharing their noises - roosters mostly, with the frequent cars blasting music or propaganda - but that added to making it a more authentic experience. We did not have a car, but walked to several of the nearby beautiful beaches. If we come again, we'll spring for the rental just so we can explore beaches outside our walking range. All in all, we loved Casa Jenny and our stay in Esperanza."
