"This place is the perfect getaway for families and couples, young and old. Our little boys loved all the wild animals and we loved the closeness to the beach as we didn't have a car the first couple days. The house is a stones throw from everything in Esperanza and several of the nicer beaches are in walking distance but having a car does make exploring the tiny island easier as the hills can be steep and the roads unsafe. Perfect place to get away from it all."

"We stayed 5 nights in the lower unit of Casa Jenny and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We appreciated Kikito's picking us up and returning us to the ferry, as well as his pointing out items of interest on the drive. The house was convenient to every thing we needed and provided all the necessities - the washer and drier were a real bonus! It was fun to have extras like the rafts, snorkels, puzzles, etc., to make our stay more fun (especially on the several rainy days we experienced). Living like a local does include sharing their noises - roosters mostly, with the frequent cars blasting music or propaganda - but that added to making it a more authentic experience. We did not have a car, but walked to several of the nearby beautiful beaches. If we come again, we'll spring for the rental just so we can explore beaches outside our walking range. All in all, we loved Casa Jenny and our stay in Esperanza."

"What a great stay at Casa de Pepito for our family of three's first trip to Vieques!
Octavian and Catherine's home has all of the gear you'll need for your time exploring as many of the beautiful beaches as you wish, it's ideally situated for a quick walk to the waterfront shops and restaurants on the nearby malecon, but it's also comfortable enough and well-appointed enough that you're tempted to stick around the house and lounge the day away in your home away from home in Esperanza.
This rapidly became our Casa de Pepito routine: Wake up; get a ham, egg & cheese breakfast sandwich from the bakery around the corner; decide which of the many beautiful Viequense beaches to visit that day; gather the beach towels, chairs, and umbrella; load up the cooler; and hop into our rental jeep to go visit a beach or two. In the evening - watch the kids playing baseball in the field across the street, walk down to the malecon for dinner and drinks, and buy some staples at the little store on the walk back.
Casa de Pepito's caretaker, Barbara, was a real joy to work with. She got in touch with us well in advance of our arrival, and once we arrived on the island, made sure we were very well taken of during our stay, including escorting us to the house to make sure we were comfortably checked in. Our flight arrived several hours before the official check-in time, and so I'd anticipated taking a drive around the island and stopping in a restaurant for a bit. Instead, Barbara took us right to the house as soon as we arrived. I'm sure that's not always possible depending on previous tenant's check-out, and though the early check-in was certainly not expected, it was very appreciated.
If you're looking for a vacation experience that allows you to feel a welcome part of the friendly Esperanza neighborhood, and is equipped with all you could possibly need for your stay on Vieques, Casa de Pepito is a perfect vacation home.
Note: Although I selected that I'd recommend this property for tourists without a car because you can easily get to shops and restaurants by foot, having a jeep is really the way to go so that you can explore Vieques and access the island's beautiful beaches."

"Our family of five, with three children ages 16,19, and 21 truly enjoyed this lovely vacation spot. The owners go above and beyond in explaining everything to newcomers to the island. We were there during the Carnaval celebration so we decided not to risk being bumped from the ferry for the Viequenses who get first priority. We rented a car in San Juan, dropped it off in Ceiba, took Vieques Air Link from Ceiba, which was very cost effective for our large family, then rented a new car in Ceiba. We felt very comfortable in the house and loved that it was situated so close to restaurants and the malecon (boardwalk). It was so helpful to have the Dodge Durango too, as it is rather difficult to really explore the island without one. It was no problem to get a Publico at the airport. I can't say enough about how wonderful Joe was as the caretaker of the property. He and Mimi are great sources of information, and not intrusive at all. Kind, caring people. Nice having the safe in the house for valuables, although we felt very safe personally on the island. Did Bio Bay tour with Blue Waters Caribbean Adventure - small group, late at night. Loved it. Fabulous vacation. Everyone went home with smiles on their faces!"
