  • Fabulously pleasant time at Casa Ladera

    Ivonne K.

"One of the major reasons our visit to Vieques was wonderful was due to our choice to stay at Casa Ladera. Even before we arrived, Renee, the property manager, made us feel welcome. We were impressed by how promptly she responded to every question (no matter how trivial). We especially appreciated her suggestion to use Abreeze/Acacia jeep rental. Renee also arranged for our transportation from the airport to the car rental. Our 2nd floor unit was clean and had a spacious living room and kitchen. Aside from food, drink and snorkeling equipment, Casa Ladera provided everything (even coffee filters). And the view of the ocean from the balcony was a bonus. Location-wise, we really liked that there was a beach right down the street and a grocery store practically right around the corner. Renee was marvelously helpful in making suggestions. Every place she suggested turned out great – the Farmers’ Market, Conuco, Next Course, and Caracas Beach (for swimming - due to having the least amount of seaweed) and Rompeolas (for snorkeling). Throughout our stay, Renee was easily accessible via text or phone call. To top things off, her dog, Krypto, greeted us with a wag whenever we saw him. Overall, we had a fabulously pleasant, relaxing time at Casa Ladera. We definitely recommend it, especially for people who want a low-key environment and want the option of cooking or grilling - should the mood strike. Also, the place is beautifully maintained and the pool was always pristine. Everything was better up close! Thanks to Renee (and, of course, the owner, Jen) for making our first visit to Vieques a memorable one. • Great location, spacious apartment

    Angela N L.

"This apartment is right in the heart of Esperanza. The ocean is literally across the street. It has a good balcony and is very spacious. We planned on getting groceries and cooking but had to much fun eating out instead. Everything you need is within walking distance. The apartment is on top of some gift shops with a restaurant/bar in the back. We read other reviews and were a little worried about the noise so brought some earplugs, but it was not bad at all. I would come back and stay again."

  • Our vacation home for a week

    Diane L.

"We just returned from spending a week on vieques. This was our first time to this beautiful peaceful island but I do not think it will be the last. Casa de Marullo was perfect for us, two couples, traveling together. It has a very large yard which seems more unusual for the area and it is all gated/fenced off to keep the horses out. The house is supplied well with things you need. The house manager, Marcelle, makes herself available for anything to make your stay great. Everyone on the island is very helpful and friendly. Working with the owner, Barbara, was also very easy and problem free. Any questions we had she quickly answered. I would highly recommend this for a vacation destination. We explored new beaches every day! One of the greatest things about the island is that most everywhere is so casual you can go right from the beach to the restaurants without having to go clean up first. Throw on your beach coverup and you are good to go!"

  • Paradise within Paradise

    Drew M.

"My wife and I stayed at Vista Does Mares for 10 days, and every single one of them was spectacular. Isla de Vieques is an incredibly beautiful place, from the bioluminescence of Mosquito Bay, to the volcanic sands of Playa Negra—and even so, we occasionally had a hard time tearing ourselves away from the comforts of the house. Likewise, the food on Vieques is varied and excellent, but more than a few nights we stayed in and grilled and blended up cocktails with fresh fruits and good, cheap Caribbean rum. Vista Does Mares sits on one of the highest points on Vieques, and you really can see both seas, both sides of the island, from inside the house and from the wrap-around veranda. The pool is something to behold, offering privacy while also opening onto a view of the lush hills that roll down to the beach. And there's air conditioning, but we never turned it on once, so effective (not to mention soothing) were the breezes blowing through. Adrienn greeted us at the airport, and she and Jared made our stay that much lovelier. They take great care of the house, they're great people all around, and they know the island like the back of their hands (and not incidentally, pretty much everybody on the island knows and loves them, too). In short, we really cannot recommend Vista Does Mares highly enough if you're planning a trip to Vieques. It was an absolute joy, and we'll undoubtedly be back!"
