"My husband and I spent our honeymoon at Casa del Marullo (House of Waves) from June 12th-19th, 2015. We had a wonderful time at the house and on the island of Vieques. The house is very secure, comfortable, clean and in a great location. The security system in the house makes you feel very safe. You feel very secluded and have your own stretch of beach all to yourself. Sitting on the outdoor patio and hearing the waves is so peaceful and relaxing. We had our morning coffee on the patio and cocktail in the evenings. The island is so beautiful with pristine beaches, unspoiled by development. I loved the horses running around loose all over the island from the roads in town to hills and beaches all around the island.
During our week on the island we went sailing, snorkeling, fishing, beach hopping, shopping and eating out. We also cooked a lot at the house and they had everything we needed and more. In fact everything was provided, from shampoo, soap, lotions, etc., to spices and all things needed in the kitchen. The house also had beach items and snorkeling equipment so we didn’t have to rent those items. The owner of the house, Barbara sent me loads of information before we got to the island which was so helpful in planning our trip. She also gave us a wedding gift, which was so sweet and thoughtful. Barbara’s house manager Marcelle and caretaker William were also very friendly and helpful and showed us how to get to the grocery store and fish market when we arrived. Barbara, Marcelle and William were just a phone call or text away if we needed anything during our stay.
We booked the sailing/snorkeling trip with Caribbean Lady and it was great. We had a crew of three on the 47’ boat and they provided snacks, meal, drinks, dessert and snorkel equipment. It was an awesome experience, especially since it was my first time snorkeling and I was scared to do it. Christina on the boat was a wonderful instructor and Glen took great care of us on the boat and in the water. Captain Tom was informative and entertaining and his wife Ann made all of the food which was delicious, especially the Tres Leches dessert."

"Twice now I’ve stayed at Alma Vista with my family and friends. We all enjoyed this vacation rental enormously! The typically Caribbean style house is spacious, clean, comfortable, and just beautiful. You’ll find a well-organized kitchen, good laundry facilities, really comfortable beds and there’s even a fascinating assortment of good reading material. Best of all is the huge balcony with a panoramic view of the ocean through a flowering tropical mango grove. It’s breathtaking in the early morning light and perfect for the spectacular sunsets every evening. Alma Vista is right in the village of Isabella Segunda but surrounded by greenery we felt private and protected. The location is just right for easy walks to shops, restaurants and local beaches then it’s a quick drive to the spectacular big beaches on the other side of the island. The house manager, Kikito, knows everything you need to know or find in Vieques. He’s always available, helpful and very friendly. We loved everything about Alma Vista. I’m afraid it’s spoiled us for any other kind of vacation."

"Family of four with two daughters, ages 8 and 10. Six nights at Pura Vida (6/6-6/12/2015). Flew from BWI to SJU nonstop on Southwest Airlines. Flew from San Juan to VQS on Cape Air. Great experience and a very relaxing vacation. Some random notes I took during the trip:
I could see myself spending more time here. I like the remoteness. The fact that there are only 10K people on the entire island. That there aren't that many tourists. That everyone speaks English and Spanish. Sun Bay. The Malecon. Sun Bay. The locals. Oh, and Sun Bay.
Middays are hot so we usually return to the house to relax and have lunch. Evenings by the water are my favorite. Beaches are empty. Water is warmer than the breeze. Kids are entertained. Island time.
I would recommend Esperanza Riding Company to people. It's a two-hour trail ride with amazing views. Also recommend Bio Bay tour with Taino Aqua. Do not miss this.
We saw two smashed iguanas today. One was probably four feet long. I joked with Rachael that I would cook it up for her dinner. Coquis are chirping away now. I tuned out the roosters after the first few hours on island. Now I don't hear them at all. Everyone has slept pretty well.
This place really is something special. Vieques is like a best kept secret. Mostly undeveloped. My single favorite feature is that there is NO ONE HERE. It's like we have the entire island to ourselves. The exact opposite of staying at a Caribbean resort. Quaint. Comfortable. Nothing pretentious. Absolutely perfect. I wouldn't change a thing."

"This apartment is right in the heart of Esperanza. The ocean is literally across the street. It has a good balcony and is very spacious. We planned on getting groceries and cooking but had to much fun eating out instead. Everything you need is within walking distance. The apartment is on top of some gift shops with a restaurant/bar in the back. We read other reviews and were a little worried about the noise so brought some earplugs, but it was not bad at all. I would come back and stay again."
