  • A great find! We plan to return!

"We were very pleased with La Solana. The house and its facilities were true to the photos and description, if not better. The La Solana team were incredibly helpful, responsive and personable - they did everything possible to insure we had a fantastic visit. Overall, a great find. We plan to return!"

  • The view alone is worth the 5 stars!

"This trip was the most relaxing & comfortable vacation I've ever had! We came for a Mother-Daughter vacation. Last time I stayed in El Conquistador, $300+ a night resort. While We had a great view there, & fancy air conditioned room, it paled in comparison to Hilltop. I would have slept in a tent on the HUGE veranda just for the AMAZING view! Second to the amazing views was the privacy between the two bedrooms. The second bedroom was an attached casita. It had its own entrance from the veranda. Lots of privacy! Perfect for two couples, parents wanting a little sanctuary to themselves, also my mom & I, She snores like a freight train. The beds are huge, enough for 3 lol, REALLY comfortable, with down pillows. Both rooms had full sized closets including plenty of hangers. The 2 bathrooms were clean, well decorated, plenty of towels & the main one had a deep tub (lots of storage too). In fact the whole apartment was well decorated; heavy wood carved furniture in every room. The kitchen has everything you might need and you aren't far from a grocery. In fact, you aren't far from anything. Centrally located; all the bays you can see from the veranda are the best beaches on the island, maybe 15min away. 4 were even voted top beaches in 2013 by Tripadvisor! On the other side, you can see Isabel Segunda (where the ferry docks). in the distance, on a clear day, you can see all the way to the main island & Culebra. Seriously! You have 360 degrees of unobstructed amazing views. Starting from the moment I woke up, I could see the ocean out my bedroom window. Then I'd take my morning coffee to the veranda and take in the view. Trade winds to cool you at night, beautiful views to wake up too... We expected to run down to the beaches, but we just spent the first few hours of the day on the veranda. -In full disclosure, the negatives (while few), were; really only room for one car to park, had hot showers 90% of the time, the only real problem was the wifi. It only worked along the back wall, so in my bedroom and on the couch. Lol While & will hopefully enjoy the sounds of the Coquis as you fall asleep, FYI you will hear dogs barking & roosters from all over the island. Still wouldn't keep me away from hilltop though! The animals are part of the charm of this island! Of course I have to mention Barry, he was extremely helpful and hospitable. He lives downstairs, but is very quiet, so no interference with your privacy. He will text if you need to communicate."

  • Spacious, clean, comfortable - "no worries, mon ...”

"We stayed in the spacious and clean upstairs unit (2bd/2bth) of 4 units with shared wonderful salt-water pool. The ocean breezes and views from our upstairs balcony provided the perfect starts and endings to 7 glorious days on the island. And those days were as carefree as the owners, Jen and Lauren, and Renee, the property manager, could devise. Jeeps on the property are available for rent and airport pickup and delivery was provided along with Renee's excellent local knowledge. Cooler, beach chairs, and ice maker were included. We used the poolside grills and eating area with refrig, restroom, and yard coconuts to great advantage under usually superb evening weather. The well-windowed upstairs floor plan required AC only when the breezes failed on a few occasions. With the windows open you can listen to the sound of surf instead of the local roosters. The only negatives worth mentioning were a few cranky window louvers, lack of a kitchen knife sharpener (if you want to filet the day's catch), hit-or-miss DSL connectivity (it shouldn't matter on vacation), and vehicle suspensions over-stressed by Vieques' killer beach roads. When the 2 gas stations on the island ran out mid-week Renee kindly provided an extra 5 gallons to get us through without losing any beach time. Be sure to ask about the fish market in town (shop before 10am for the day's catch). Phone in your sandwich orders to any of the excellent food shops in town for pickup on your way to the beach - menus are provided in the unit. Casa Ladera is a keeper being close to town, groceries, and great local cuisine. You can trust your hosts and know they're available anytime on the adjoining property. We'll be back."

  • Luxurious accomodations!

"We were surprised at how big the house is and how much privacy each room has. We only had 4 adults and one child so we did not need the bottom floor apartment with the second kitchen. It is beautiful, comfortable and spotless. Bright colors on the outside but the inside is very tastefully decorated by someone with a great eye for details in nuetral relaxing colors. The towels, linens, chairs, all were high quality. The house managers were very helpful. They stopped by a couple of times and made sure the pool stayed clean. The pool was very nice for relaxing after a hot day at the beach. We were centrally located to everything on the island. We went to Esperanza and the Southern beaches most often but also trekked into Isabel and had dinner at the W. We did not cook but there were very nice appliances. We ate lunch at Bananas daily after the beach and tried different places at night. The weather and the views were perfect along with the sounds of the coquis frogs each night. You definitely need a jeep to stay here and should listen to the house managers instructions on how to park on the very steep driveway because it is tricky and you can scrape the bottom of the vehicle if you come from the wrong angle. I wish we had brought a long a a few more friends to fill up the other rooms!"
