  • Fun for Everyone!

"I visited Vista Linda with a small group in the spring, and absolutely loved it. It's totally private and the views are spectacular. The grounds are lovely and well kept (complete with fresh fruit and cilantro for picking!), and there are a couple of cars ready for use to take to the beaches, in to town, and to the various horse pastures around the island. I would love to come back with my extended family because it offers something for everyone (plus you don't need to hassle with passports). The main house has an open (but gated and locked at night) first floor, with a pool table and seating for outdoor eating if it's rainy. The grounds are large and enclosed, which is perfect for all of my little cousins to run around while easily supervised from the pool area. The casita is its own, separate house and would be great for my grandparents, so they don't have to climb any stairs, and they'd have a nice view of the pool. For me and my older siblings and cousins, the town offers a lot in terms of restaurants and night life. We had a ton of fun exploring, dancing, and some (very small) gambling. We always felt safe, even late at night. Since most of the people who live on the island travel by horse, you won't encounter drunk drivers. During the day, there are ample markets, horse back riding, snorkeling and scuba diving, and trips to mainland Puerto Rico for hiking in the jungle. We had no trouble communicating with anyone, even as a group of gringos, since just about everyone speaks English fluently. I would like to learn more Spanish for my next visit, more as a matter of principle and being a responsible traveler than anything else, but it's not essential. As far as food goes, I could write an entire review on the restaurants alone. If you're looking for something a little more upscale, check out Tradewinds or El Quenepo. I came in convinced I didn't like seafood, and left a convert. If you want more casual and family-friendly, Duffy's offers a great view of the water (and some pretty good margaritas, too!). Overall an excellent experience. Would recommend for just about any group made up of all ages."

  • Amazing honeymoon spot.

"Amazing property, was even better than we imagined. Had everything you can imaging included in the rental. Will definitely come back. I have nothing negative to say about this property everything was perfect. If I had to say one negative it would be the wifi signal is not the greatest only worked in one of the bedrooms. But that was a plus for us since we just got married and were on a beautiful island I didnt want to be bothered by emails and Facebook notifications."

  • Mi Macondo fulfilled all our expectations -- and then some!

"Mi Macondo is truly lovely and its location, on a hill overlooking Esperanza and the Caribbean, is perfect. The house itself is charming and well-designed, with all the comforts of home -- plus interesting art and artifacts throughout, a great selection of books and DVDs, TV, ceiling fans in every room, and wifi that works like a dream. The kitchen is very well equipped and a variety of staples are available for use -- a nice touch. The patio and pool area are delightful, with lovely plantings and beautiful views. There is a gas grill and a large table for dining outside (also an indoor dining table), plus a lovely little lily pond. We made good use of the beach chairs, cooler, and boogie boards provided for the beach. We were there for a week with our daughter, son-in-law, and their two boys ages 7 and 9, who had the time of their lives -- so much to explore! I won't sing the praises of Vieques, as many others have done so in detail, but it's really a wonderful, unspoiled island with lots of activities, good restaurants, friendly inhabitants, and beautiful, uncrowded beaches. I will recommend a trip to the farmer's market on Wednesdays and Fridays, which provides a marvelous selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. Wynne, the very nice and helpful owner, or her neighbor Liz can tell you were to find it. Mi Macondo was perfect for our family, and we look forward to our return next year!"

  • Always a pleasure

"This is our second visit to Vieques and our second stay at Journeys End. We always have a large group and this year we rented 4 homes with a total of about 35 people. This home allows the whole group to have dinner and visit either upstairs or in the outside area next to the pool. We have the best gatherings here at this home. The drive to the beaches is very easy...both the caribbean beaches or the Atlantic side of the island. All the amenities are fantastic and all the bedrooms are spacious and air conditioned. The owners have added upgrades to the kitchen since our last visit and also an outside bath and shower next to the pool. Highly recommend this home and have had wonderful memories here!!"
