Awesome Time on the Island of Vieques and stay at Mi Macondo!!
"Our family just returned from an awesome week of staying at the Mi Macondo! This truly has been one of the first vacations that we have experienced that we did not feel that we needed a "vacation" from our vacation. This was our first experience with using VRBO and I am so glad we did!! This beautiful home made our vacation so special. It allowed us to experience the island life more fully then if we had just stayed at the hotel. The home is beautifully decorated with contemporary fixtures, sinks, lights and showers and is well stocked with all the kitchen tools you might need during your stay. Since we did eat most of our meals at the home we saved a great deal on meals. Every morning my husband and I would start our morning drinking our coffee from the pool side that has views of the Caribbean and the bays. The morning sounds of the island are so peaceful and just as awesome are the night the sounds of coqui frogs that will tuck you into bed each night for a wonderful sleep. Even though the beaches are a short drive down the hill, our family loved the pool to come home to, we used the pool nonstop throughout our entire stay so that was also a very nice feature to have! In fact this is where we practiced our snorkeling before hitting the beach! We also want to thank Wynne (owner) and Liz (friend and property manager) for all your help and assistance before and during our stay!!
My family and I will definitely be coming back to Mi Micondo !!"

"We can't say enough good things about the house and the island. The house was very clean and accommodated our group of 10 with lots of elbow room! The property is beautiful with plants, trees, and flowers. It feels private. I loved getting up early to have coffee on the deck with the view of the water. Walking around town was a favorite as well as snorkeling at Mosquito pier. The beaches are amazing and so few people that you feel like you have the beach to yourself. We rented a 4wd Jeep so we could get to some remote beaches. It was hard to leave..."

"We loved our stay in Vieques and this sweet house was the perfect place to begin and finish our days exploring all it's natural beauty. Joe was tremendously helpful and welcoming when we arrived and gave us lots of great advice on snorkelling, restaurants and beaches. The house was clean, comfy and spacious for our family of four, and we also appreciated having beach chairs and a washing machine. Also really loved being able to make our own breakfasts and lunches, though the restaurant options on the malecon were so great that we always walked down for dinner and a nice evening stroll. Our favorite way to travel is to stay in places that are charming, budget-friendly and allow us to feel connected to a place or neighbourhood - Magnolia House was the perfect spot!"

"One of the major reasons our visit to Vieques was wonderful was due to our choice to stay at Casa Ladera. Even before we arrived, Renee, the property manager, made us feel welcome. We were impressed by how promptly she responded to every question (no matter how trivial). We especially appreciated her suggestion to use Abreeze/Acacia jeep rental. Renee also arranged for our transportation from the airport to the car rental.
Our 2nd floor unit was clean and had a spacious living room and kitchen. Aside from food, drink and snorkeling equipment, Casa Ladera provided everything (even coffee filters). And the view of the ocean from the balcony was a bonus. Location-wise, we really liked that there was a beach right down the street and a grocery store practically right around the corner.
Renee was marvelously helpful in making suggestions. Every place she suggested turned out great – the Farmers’ Market, Conuco, Next Course, and Caracas Beach (for swimming - due to having the least amount of seaweed) and Rompeolas (for snorkeling). Throughout our stay, Renee was easily accessible via text or phone call. To top things off, her dog, Krypto, greeted us with a wag whenever we saw him.
Overall, we had a fabulously pleasant, relaxing time at Casa Ladera. We definitely recommend it, especially for people who want a low-key environment and want the option of cooking or grilling - should the mood strike. Also, the place is beautifully maintained and the pool was always pristine. Everything was better up close! Thanks to Renee (and, of course, the owner, Jen) for making our first visit to Vieques a memorable one.
