  • A Paradise Palace!

"We are a group of repeat visitors to Vieques, it is truly one of our favorite places in the world. Las Terrazas was the best place we've stayed on the island. Our group included a total of 5 married couples and we were perfectly comfortable with lots of places to relax and have privacy, or hang out together as a group. We cooked dinner in the beautiful kitchen and used the BBQ grill, and one of our favorite places was sitting around the big table outside eating meals and drinking pina coladas! The ice machine was such a nice treat. We set up our hammocks under the canopy by the pool and settled in to the island life. Vieques doesn't get any better than this! The beds were very comfortable, the pool and gardens were fantastic, and the view was just perfect! We loved falling asleep and waking up to the sounds of Vieques, the coqui frogs are so magical. The location was great for us, as we like to spend our days exploring all of the beaches on the island. It was and easy drive to Esperanza and Isabel for dinner or groceries. We will be back!!!"

  • Paradise within Paradise

"My wife and I stayed at Vista Does Mares for 10 days, and every single one of them was spectacular. Isla de Vieques is an incredibly beautiful place, from the bioluminescence of Mosquito Bay, to the volcanic sands of Playa Negra—and even so, we occasionally had a hard time tearing ourselves away from the comforts of the house. Likewise, the food on Vieques is varied and excellent, but more than a few nights we stayed in and grilled and blended up cocktails with fresh fruits and good, cheap Caribbean rum. Vista Does Mares sits on one of the highest points on Vieques, and you really can see both seas, both sides of the island, from inside the house and from the wrap-around veranda. The pool is something to behold, offering privacy while also opening onto a view of the lush hills that roll down to the beach. And there's air conditioning, but we never turned it on once, so effective (not to mention soothing) were the breezes blowing through. Adrienn greeted us at the airport, and she and Jared made our stay that much lovelier. They take great care of the house, they're great people all around, and they know the island like the back of their hands (and not incidentally, pretty much everybody on the island knows and loves them, too). In short, we really cannot recommend Vista Does Mares highly enough if you're planning a trip to Vieques. It was an absolute joy, and we'll undoubtedly be back!"

  • We all want to go back to Mi Macondo!

"We spent our Easter break at Mi Macondo and loved every minute of it! The property is gorgeous and the views are unbelievable -- made us all forget the nasty weather we left behind. The house has every amenity you can think of so feeling "at home" was easy. All of the beds were super comfortable and the view when you wake up cannot be beat. Beach towels and chairs are provided which is super convenient. There is a tv but we NEVER used it -- truly a sign of a great vacation. WIFI was great for having to "check in" with reality! Breakfasts by the pool were heavenly and dinners under the stars (amazing stargazing!) were unforgettable. The location of the house is perfect -- easy to get either town -- and yet you feel private. Some days we saw more horses than people! Renting a 4x4 is a must as some of the best snorkeling is on very bumpy (lomo) roads -- but 100% worth it. I would recommend bringing your own snorkel gear as renting can be pricey for a big group - we used ours EVERY day. Make sure you hit the "farmers' market" about 5 minutes from the house -- great fruits and veggies. I'm still craving the arugula that we bought there! Esperanza is a fun place with great food options and even better people watching! Wynne and Liz are great hostesses - you spoiled us and and now re-entry back to Chicago has been very hard! How did we not know about this island for so long??? LOVED it and cannot wait to go back!"

  • Perfect home base for exploring the island

"We loved our stay in Vieques and this sweet house was the perfect place to begin and finish our days exploring all it's natural beauty. Joe was tremendously helpful and welcoming when we arrived and gave us lots of great advice on snorkelling, restaurants and beaches. The house was clean, comfy and spacious for our family of four, and we also appreciated having beach chairs and a washing machine. Also really loved being able to make our own breakfasts and lunches, though the restaurant options on the malecon were so great that we always walked down for dinner and a nice evening stroll. Our favorite way to travel is to stay in places that are charming, budget-friendly and allow us to feel connected to a place or neighbourhood - Magnolia House was the perfect spot!"
