  • Our Only Regret....We Didnt Stay Longer

"This could not have been the more perfect vacation getaway. The house is beautiful, the property incredibly well maintained and you cannot get a better view. The rooms are large, comfortably furnished and all the extras are more than I have ever experienced in previous vacation rentals. Well stocked kitchen, spices, oils, and personal items, shampoo, lotions, bug repellent, etc. This truly felt like a home away from home. But what really puts this rental over the top is Barbara and her staff. The amount of communication, detailed information and willingness to answer questions was incredible. They have a high standard for attention to detail and hospitality! Marcelle and WIlliam (the caretakers) were incredibly thorough in all the what, whys and hows to navigate Vieques as well as the property. And just in case you weren't listening they have provided helpful little notes around the house. We are looking forward to returning to Vieques and Casa del Marullo would be are only option! We only hope it is available the next time we decide to visit."

  • Absolutely Amazing - total luxury

"Our stay at Villa de Paradis was everything we hoped it would be. The villa is nicely appointed and has high-end finishes and furnishings. It was spacious and accommodated our family well. It is even better than the pictures. It was an easy place to stay and relax. Being on the W Resort property was great for the security, restaurants (great food and service), cafe, & other amenities. Estela, the owner was always responsive to our emails and answered our questions as well as gave us recommendations for places to go for shopping (Buen Provecho -amazing) & restaurants. The property managers were very responsive, helpful and nice. Everyone in our family loved watching our daily visit from the horses and seeing brand new fouls play and be with their mothers. The beach below the property was difficult to get to but once there we had an amazing time exploring the tidal pools and snorkeling and it was incredibly private. We had so much fun spending our days in the sun and enjoying the beauty that Vieques offers. We enjoyed the pool as well, especially the kids. There are a few things that I want to mention to others to have a heads up. Unfortunately, we didn't find the formal path to the larger, less rocky beach until our last day. This path is just a few houses toward the end of the road. We wish we had known about it earlier so we could have explored and enjoyed that beach as well. It would have been great to have a 'what you need to know' guide at the house to orient new visitors to the house and immediate surrounding area. We also were able to connect to the house WiFi but could never get an actual internet connection. Many of us had limited or no cellular service on the island so having active WiFi would have been nice but we never had an actual internet connection. So for those that this is important (I actually benefited from being not connected as it encouraged me to stay connected to my family and surroundings without distraction), you may want to get confirmation that the internet connection will be active, not just an active router. Given my limited cellular service while staying at the house, I wasn't able to contact the owner to resolve the problem and honestly didn't want to waste time dealing with it. I did contact the property managers but they couldn't help resolve it. It wasn't a big deal but frustrating as we were expecting internet access. We loved our stay here and are already planning our next visit."

  • Couldn't have been happier!

"We were so pleased by our week rental over Christmas at Isola. Our family includes two college age kids and we enjoyed the porch more than we could have imagined. We drank our coffee while reading the paper in the morning (wireless worked great!), watched the sunset over cocktails in the evening before dinner and stayed up late at night playing card games and talking. Not a single mosquito, but I understand that may have been the time of year. The beds were comfortable and the whole house was spotless. The kitchen had just exactly what we needed (a set of measuring cups would have been useful) and we cooked most of our meals there including Christmas Eve and Christmas dinners. The lobster from the fisherman was delicious and lobster pot and gas grill were great to have. Our little beach in front was a great place to do a little fly fishing in the evening - my husband's favorite activity - and we took an evening swim a few times. We had fun exploring the rest of the beaches on Vieques but the best part of our whole trip was this house..."

  • The view alone is worth the 5 stars!

"This trip was the most relaxing & comfortable vacation I've ever had! We came for a Mother-Daughter vacation. Last time I stayed in El Conquistador, $300+ a night resort. While We had a great view there, & fancy air conditioned room, it paled in comparison to Hilltop. I would have slept in a tent on the HUGE veranda just for the AMAZING view! Second to the amazing views was the privacy between the two bedrooms. The second bedroom was an attached casita. It had its own entrance from the veranda. Lots of privacy! Perfect for two couples, parents wanting a little sanctuary to themselves, also my mom & I, She snores like a freight train. The beds are huge, enough for 3 lol, REALLY comfortable, with down pillows. Both rooms had full sized closets including plenty of hangers. The 2 bathrooms were clean, well decorated, plenty of towels & the main one had a deep tub (lots of storage too). In fact the whole apartment was well decorated; heavy wood carved furniture in every room. The kitchen has everything you might need and you aren't far from a grocery. In fact, you aren't far from anything. Centrally located; all the bays you can see from the veranda are the best beaches on the island, maybe 15min away. 4 were even voted top beaches in 2013 by Tripadvisor! On the other side, you can see Isabel Segunda (where the ferry docks). in the distance, on a clear day, you can see all the way to the main island & Culebra. Seriously! You have 360 degrees of unobstructed amazing views. Starting from the moment I woke up, I could see the ocean out my bedroom window. Then I'd take my morning coffee to the veranda and take in the view. Trade winds to cool you at night, beautiful views to wake up too... We expected to run down to the beaches, but we just spent the first few hours of the day on the veranda. -In full disclosure, the negatives (while few), were; really only room for one car to park, had hot showers 90% of the time, the only real problem was the wifi. It only worked along the back wall, so in my bedroom and on the couch. Lol While & will hopefully enjoy the sounds of the Coquis as you fall asleep, FYI you will hear dogs barking & roosters from all over the island. Still wouldn't keep me away from hilltop though! The animals are part of the charm of this island! Of course I have to mention Barry, he was extremely helpful and hospitable. He lives downstairs, but is very quiet, so no interference with your privacy. He will text if you need to communicate."
