  • Our Second Visit

"We stayed at Hummingbird Villa in 2012 and had a wonderful experience. Our 2013 vacation schedule didn't match up with the availability of the villa. We're pleased that this year we were able to enjoy a second visit. The relaxing atmosphere and view of Oyster Pond make this location ideal. Quiet, clean and comfortable describe what you'll find here. Christine and Skip are wonderful hosts, and their knowledge of the island is very helpful in narrowing down the many choices of activities and places to eat. We're already looking forward to next year!"

  • Nice Villa, spectacular views

"Firstly I would like to say that we had a wonderful time on this vacation so any less than positive feedback is simply presented as opportunity to improve. After booking, I got lots of helpful feedback from the owner and really appreciated all of the guidance and help received. St. Maarten is a wonderful place but road signs are not one of the strengths of the area. We had a bit of a hard time following the directions we downloaded from Google maps as a lot of roads are not marked. One of the guests arriving after the main group had a bit of a problem finding the place (in a taxi) and we needed to direct them to a local beach resort and meet them there. This meant a trek down the hill from the Villa to Dawn Beach which is not for the faint of heart. The hill is one thing that I think people should be aware of. Anyone who is not healthy enough for a strenuous walk at a 45 degree angle could have a problem with the hill. That's fine as long as anyone not up for that can drive or take a taxi. With only 2 sets of keys and gate remotes though, large groups may have problems splitting up into walkers and drivers/taxi-takers so take note of that. I also found the driveway a little nervewracking because it is very narrow up by the door to the Villa and there are 3 sweet dogs who greet the car every time you enter and leave. As nice as the dogs were, one day it was frustrating as we were pressed for time and could not get the dogs to move out of the way of the car. As I mentioned above, the views from the villa are spectacular and probably the best feature. We rented 4 rooms and the beds were very comfortable, rooms were clean and each had a sizeable bathroom. Since the Villa faces East, the sun comes in brightly and intensely in the mornings. Not a problem for me as I loved getting up to enjoy the morning sun but for anyone who likes to sleep in that could be a challenge (as it was for a couple of our group). The water was cold in the mornings so a hot shower was not an option (I think this is because of a solar water heater). Again, this didn't bother me too much as it was pretty warm out and a cool shower was fine by me but not everyone agreed. The patio is lovely, pool is nice and clean (not heated which was fine by about 50% of my group). The appliances, crockery, cutlery and glassware are basic. As long as you are not expecting luxury in the kitchen you will be OK. Moreen the housekeeper was very friendly and helpful. Great villa, lovely vac"

  • Awesome Stay!!!

"This place is a modern, beautifully decorated , spacious condo located in Cupecoy! The pictures of the condo are 100% accurate and do not do any justice to the actual views which are simply stunning!!! It has 2 balconies with unobstructed views of the front of the building (entrance to the gated property) and the back (ocean view). The highlights of the property are the WiFi, a cell phone for use, surround sound system, flat screen TVs, fully equipped kitchen, tennis court, pool, gym, and day spa. Cannot say enough about the location!!! Location is everything as they say and this condo is in the perfect spot! Located on the Dutch side of the island but easily accessible to the French side, Airport is 10 minuets away, Maho (restaurants, shops, bars, Casino Royale) is 5 minuets away, Atlantic Casino & Temptation Restaurant (one of our favorite spots for dinner) are walking distance across the street, The Blue Mall & a grocery store is 2 minuets away, the Mullet Bay Golf Course (and Mullet Bay Beach) is 3 minuets away. The cherry on top? The condo comes with an available rental car (Unheard of!! Great amenity!!) for use so feel free to explore the island! We did and we fell in love with Pinel Island (accessible by ferry $10 RT). St. Maarten is a great island to visit because it can be relaxing, while still being entertaining. If you are not a 'beach person' for example, there is still a ton of other activities to do on this particular island. There are a lot of options in terms of entertainment. All-in-all a must stay! The owner of this condo is incredibly accommodating! We had a fantastic time in St. Maarten! A beautiful island with friendly people. You will definitely enjoy yourself!"

  • An amazing place to stay on the French side

"We (6 friends from Germany, Italy and Belgium) had a great stay in this property in Nov/Dec 2013. Everything is matching the descriptions given here and all photos are showing the actual situation, it is actually even better in my opinion... First the location, I usually always prefer the better view over the house features, but this one has both - a magnificent view, located on almost top of the hill overlooking the orient bay and the majority of the other villas in this gated community, and great features. The owners made a great decision to build the terrace railing completely of glass, so you can enjoy the spectacular view from every spot on the dark wooden (!) terrace who is divided into a lovely pool (not super large but still completely sufficient) and a chill-out/ dine area with a little mini bar. Inside the house you have a two floor layout with 3 bedrooms on the upper and a pool view bedroom on the lower floor. All rooms were clean, are designed with taste and not just a bed + chair and thats it. Kitchen is fully equipped including Gas BBQ outside, huge freezer etc. We also loved the washing machine + dryer and the little Roulette-/ Poker-table setup that gave the extra Casino atmosphere :-) The villa is surrounded by a huge lovely green garden with a big fan palm right in front of the terrace. There is an additional apartment right below the villa (as a under-ground floor so to speak) due to the hill side construction, it was booked for one week during our stay but we didn't notice anybody as it has its own access to the garden, also with independent parking outside. The French side is great and we were so happy to have chosen it over the Dutch part which way more touristic and noisy. Great and very fast communication with Claire the owner, who lives in France and provided us a great deal for the 3 weeks. Minor drawbacks (not for us) were pay-TV not working properly during our stay (but honestly who needs this, you are in TV yourself in the Caribbean) and Phillipe, their great and friendly housekeeper and gardener, only speaks a few words in English, but this was also no problem since we had someone with us who is a native speaker. Overall a great choice of property in one of the best areas on the French side. Recommended. Alex from Germany"
