  • Beautiful Oasis by the Sea

"To keep things concise, here's a point form breakdown of our experience at La Calanthe in July, 2014: Convenience - A very short drive from the airport, Marigot and Philipsburg! Very conveniently located near two grocery stores and a few decent restaurants. Kim Sha beach is less than 10 minutes by foot but we opted to rent a car from AAA and visit other more beautiful beaches instead. A great location! Safety - Gated and with Coco and Bruno right next door with their sweet dog Chanel, we always felt safe. We always locked up at night just as Coco and Bruno asked. There are lots of gated homes with guard dogs in this neighbourhood so it felt very safe. We did walk the road to Simpson Bay a couple of times but only did so during daylight. Water - Pool was awesome. Huge deck with a variety of loungers etc. Ocean was great for snorkelling and easy to access from the ladder. Watch the currents on windy days as they can become very strong if you're not a solid swimmer. Kitchen - All the amenities we needed as well as a BBQ outside. Oven takes a long time to heat up so try to use the BBQ for all meals. Rooms and Baths - Lovely and clean. Nice linens and frequent changing of towels. Lots of room to spread out in common areas although we rarely stayed indoors except to sleep! Tips - Rent a car as there is so much to see and do on this island and everything is so close relative to what we're used to in Canada! If you like to snorkel check out Little Bay on the Dutch side and Baie Rouge on the French side. Downfalls - Nothing really other than the mosquitos which were quite active during our stay, day and night, inside and outside. There are no screens on the windows or the porch and there is some lush vegetation on-site, so the bugs were a bit of a nuisance. We kept the bedroom and bathroom doors closed all day (a/c on at night only) and used lots of repellant with DEET. We did get many bites regardless but hopefully it's just a result of the rainy season. All in all an impeccable experience. And what a view! Highly recommended for LGBT families as well, given how comfortable we were made to feel."

  • Private, modern treasure

"My boyfriend and I spent the perfect weekend here. The place was clean, modern, well furnished, private, and beautifully landscaped. Philippe was very accommodating and helpful, but left us to our privacy as soon as we were settled. A grocery store was in walking distance, and we enjoyed cooking breakfast in the fully equipped kitchen and eating on the porch (with a beautiful view!) every morning. Traveling to meet friends in Simpson Bay or Maho was a breeze - the cab was about $15 for two people combined, but we walked to restaurants and bars in the area as well. For a couple or individual looking for a special spot, I can't recommend this place enough. We wish we could have stayed longer, and would definitely return."

  • What a wonderful start to our honeymoon

"We are so happy to have had the chance to stay at Villa Sara Bella. The private pool directly on the water was so relaxing. It offers US phone service, this was a very good choice for us, as we needed to use this service due to family emergency in the US while we were away. Without this, we would have had to end our vacation and go home early. The remoteness away from the bars and restaurants was wonderful for us. Being remote means we needed to drive to them. You will need to rent a car when you rent this property. All of the appliances worked very well. Preparing for our trip, Janet the property owner was quick to respond and we truly thank her for all she did for us. Constance was a wonderful addition to the property. She came a few times to clean and we got to talk with her quite a bit. She is such a wonderful person and gave us excellent advice on what to see and when. She helped us avoid the crowds! Some of the restaurants recommended in the guest book were great, but one that is highly recommended everywhere, turned out to be a huge disappointment. If you find yourself bored in St Maarten, St Maarten is not the problem. There is way too much to do there to be bored. Villa Sara Bella is in an excellent location to serve as a base to get out and enjoy all St Maarten has to offer you. If you don't want to go anywhere, you will find yourself relaxing in or near your private pool. We had a wonderful time and we can't want to schedule another trip in the future."

  • Even Exceeded Expectations

"We loved staying at the gorgeous villa and in this area....convenient to restaurants, beaches, etc. It was every bit as beautiful as the pictures. Our two daughters (ages 17 and 23) were with us and appreciated the speedy internet. After all day on the beach, it was lovely to dip in our quiet, private pool before leaving for fantastic dinners in the area. I highly recommend and even hope to stay again this spring!"

Pelican Key Travel Tips

Pelican Key Resorts Are Perfect for Families and Honeymooners

For years, St. Maarten has been a popular vacation destination and once you arrive you will know exactly why! The beaches are beautiful, the night life exciting, and there is so much to do, especially when you book Pelican Key lodging. Pelican Key resorts allow for plenty of snorkeling, beach combing, and fun in the sun. In fact, these St. Maarten rentals allow for the ideal family vacation or romantic getaway for anyone.

So Much to Do near Pelican Key Lodging

Pelican Key resorts are situated along the curvy Simpson Bay which makes the beaches extra gorgeous. Though it is one of the most developed areas on the island, Pelican Key lodging still exudes a sense of serenity and privacy. However, there are plenty of restaurants, shops, casinos, boutiques, and entertainment options to choose from, so you will never hear anyone saying, “What is there to do?” or “I am bored.”

Do Not Miss the Beaches at St. Maarten Rentals

Anyone who loves the beach will enjoy their stay in St. Maarten rentals. With more than 36 white sandy beaches to choose from covering 37 square miles, you can experience a new beach every day! Each beach has its own special charm and character, ranging from isolated romantic beaches set inside coves to hopping public beaches where the kids will have a blast. Regardless of the type of beach, all have wonderful waves for surfing and plenty of room for swimming and snorkeling.

Pelican Key Resorts Offer So Much More than the Beach

Though Pelican Key resorts are situated along the beaches, you do not have to spend all your time in the sun and on the sand. St. Maarten rentals allow for plenty of other activities, too. You can spend your time parasailing, horseback riding, mountain biking, sailing, and even shopping (duty-free at that!). And no matter how you spend your time at Pelican Key lodging, be sure not to miss the vibrant atmosphere, tropical cocktails, and fine dining at night.
