  • Truly Paradise Found

"We spent five idyllic weeks at this lovely villa in January and February, our second stay in this very special home. The owner is easy to work with and is constantly updating the property which is beautifully decorated and so very well appointed. We could not have wanted for anything more during our stay! The on-site property manager is a delight to work with and does a fabulous job making sure the villa is in tip-top shape. The interior layout is very well suited for two couples. Good separation of bedrooms and plenty of space in the common areas. The location is convenient to grocery stores, restaurants and nightlife. We love to experience the many beaches on St. Maarten however, there is not a more stunning panorama than from the deck of this villa! It is the perfect spot for morning coffee; a lazy afternoon with a good book; grilling fresh fish for dinner; watching a stunning sunset and gazing at the moon and stars as the waves lap up at the coral directly below. The surrounding grounds are beautiful and well tended as is the community pool. The area around the pool is such that you can find sun or shade and has several separate seating areas where privacy is possible....no long rows of lounge chairs! Words cannot express how wonderful this spot is. Thanks Judith for sharing it with us! We look forward to our next visit."

  • The perfect place

"We have been to St Martin several times, and stayed at different locations each time. This was by far the best place. As soon as we opened the door to this villa we fell in love. The view is spectacular - and the covered deck runs the full length of the unit. Never needed the A/C, lots of fans and ocean breezes, and it was lovely to go to sleep with the sounds of the waves and the tree frogs. Coral Shores is a great little complex. Beautifully landscaped - flowers everywhere, and the pool is gorgeous - and not at all crowded. Plenty of lounges, with sun or shade. Well stocked villa, with everything you need - blender for those tropical drinks, gas grill, even binoculars for observing the boats going by. Very nice housekeeping staff who meet you and explain everything you need to know, and they keep the unit very clean. Already thinking about when we can return."

  • Beautiful Oasis by the Sea

"To keep things concise, here's a point form breakdown of our experience at La Calanthe in July, 2014: Convenience - A very short drive from the airport, Marigot and Philipsburg! Very conveniently located near two grocery stores and a few decent restaurants. Kim Sha beach is less than 10 minutes by foot but we opted to rent a car from AAA and visit other more beautiful beaches instead. A great location! Safety - Gated and with Coco and Bruno right next door with their sweet dog Chanel, we always felt safe. We always locked up at night just as Coco and Bruno asked. There are lots of gated homes with guard dogs in this neighbourhood so it felt very safe. We did walk the road to Simpson Bay a couple of times but only did so during daylight. Water - Pool was awesome. Huge deck with a variety of loungers etc. Ocean was great for snorkelling and easy to access from the ladder. Watch the currents on windy days as they can become very strong if you're not a solid swimmer. Kitchen - All the amenities we needed as well as a BBQ outside. Oven takes a long time to heat up so try to use the BBQ for all meals. Rooms and Baths - Lovely and clean. Nice linens and frequent changing of towels. Lots of room to spread out in common areas although we rarely stayed indoors except to sleep! Tips - Rent a car as there is so much to see and do on this island and everything is so close relative to what we're used to in Canada! If you like to snorkel check out Little Bay on the Dutch side and Baie Rouge on the French side. Downfalls - Nothing really other than the mosquitos which were quite active during our stay, day and night, inside and outside. There are no screens on the windows or the porch and there is some lush vegetation on-site, so the bugs were a bit of a nuisance. We kept the bedroom and bathroom doors closed all day (a/c on at night only) and used lots of repellant with DEET. We did get many bites regardless but hopefully it's just a result of the rainy season. All in all an impeccable experience. And what a view! Highly recommended for LGBT families as well, given how comfortable we were made to feel."
