  • Lovely Condo

"We stayed here for one week from 12/9/14 to 12/16/14. The villa is exactly as pictured in the new pictures. Everything worked as it should and the house was well stocked. The beds were comfortable and the living room furniture was functional. The two TV's worked well and the internet service was adequate enough to get emails easily - surfing the web was slow though. It was very convenient to the new causeway which made getting to the French side a breeze. Access to the beach was easy and secure. There were several well stocked grocery stores close by - all great pluses. We had only two issues with the unit. First was parking. The designated spot for this unit is the end spot in front of the building. There is a concrete wall on one side and the spot next to it was occupied by a full time resident with a very large Ram pickup truck with a motorcycle parked in front of it. It stuck out very far making swinging into the spot from the one way street extremely difficult. It always took multiple back and forth swings with one person directing from the street especially if a local resident parked across the street from the parking spot. Our car was on the larger side for island rentals so it might not be as bad with a compact car but it really wasn't fun getting in and out of the spot. We often dreaded going out for that reason. The other issue was the lack of shade. Some might love this but we were hoping that the covered patio and balcony would have offered shade for more of the day. There was no shade after 10:30AM until sunset on either the ground floor patio or upstairs balcony. There are no umbrellas on the pool deck so if you cannot tolerate continuous sun you are out of luck. There are beach chairs and sand umbrellas available but there was no real beach in front of the unit the week we were there. That changes throughout the year but was not good when we were there. Despite our two issues we still had a lovely week at the condo. We might not stay there again but would recommend it to others as long as the parking and sun/shade were mentioned ahead of time and everyone was okay with it. The views of the boats on the bay overlooking Saba were tremendous and the sunsets awesome."

  • Island Mermaid Review

"My husband and I spent a week at the Island Mermaid in late November. It is an exceptional condo with spectacular views, accessible from an oversized balcony with a west facing view. We spent hours just sitting there watching the ships and sailboats coming in. The sunsets are breathtaking. My husband and I rent vacation homes all over the world, and we agree that this is one of the nicest units we have been in. It is huge, the layout is magnificent, the decorating is beautiful. The pool access and beach access are perfect. I ran the beach every morning, and went for a swim in the ocean just a few metres down the beach from the Island Mermaid. The pool area is well appointed with ample chaise lounges and again has a spectacular view of the ocean. We had never been to St.Marteen before, so we were a little concerned when we drove down the lane to the Island Mermaid. The mixed housing threw us a little, but we soon realized that this was the way the island rolls. We felt safe and secure, and the neighbours were all polite and respectful. Next time I would spend more time eating in, because quite frankly you will not find a more gorgeous setting on the island. The Grand Marche has everything you need (5 minutes away) and the kitchen is very well equipped. Don't hesitate to rent this place, you will love it!"

  • Fantastic family vacation

"Our family of 8 adults recently stayed in Rick and Marie's beautiful home. The house is actually more beautiful than the pictures show. The view is breathtaking. The location of the house makes it very convenient to walk/drive to restaurants and beaches. Mullet Bay Beach was fun with lots of people and activities. Karakter Beach was also very nice--not as busy as Mullet and chairs and umbrellas were free. Drinks and food were available to purchase at both places. Jennie was very accommodating and helpful. We used the Shop and Drop grocery service for our first night and it worked out really well. So nice to not have to immediately run out to the grocery story. Drinks were chilled and food and snacks were delivered prior to our arrival. We did rent a car and enjoyed our shopping trip to Philipsburgh. Rick was very honest and easy to work with. I would highly recommend this beautiful home. You will not be disappointed. Thank you Rick and Marie for offering an incredible vacation filled with wonderful memories that will last a life time."

  • Wonderful place! Highly recommended

"Wonderful place to stay! The pictures you see are truly what you get, it's unbelievable and the views including sunrise and sunset are breathtaking. The owners of this condo are extremely receptive and responsive to any issues that come up. We had no difficulty contacting them. The condo is within wakling distance of downtown but we did rent a car. We would recommend a car, not becuase you need it to get around from this location, but moreso because visitors should get out and explore the whole island! We went to a few different beaches, including Happy Beach which is a must see! Food in the area is great and there is a large variety! Would highly recommend this place to stay!!"
