  • Villa #9 - A Home Away From Home - But Even Better!

"We stayed in Villa #9 for our return visit to St Maarten and had an even better experience than our 1st visit to the island. The Villas on Great Bay are centrally located in walking distance to the downtown Philipsburg Boardwalk. The Villas are very clean and well taken care of by the management. The management is headed by Jim who has a great deal of experience in making sure your stay is comfortable. The Villas are also well watched in the evenings by Wilfred - the security guard who walks the premises and interacts with the guests. Everyone at The Villas of Great Bay was friendly, knowledgeable and genuine about making sure your stay was pleasant. The experience is very well worth it and you will never stay at another resort again when visiting St Maarten. Villa #9 is very clean and spacious. It has the fortune of having one of the best views of Great Bay. There is nothing like getting up in the morning and being so close to the beautiful turquoise waters of the ocean and the beautiful sandy beach. Villa #9 has the luxury of being the only unit with a large wooden deck facing the ocean. The deck is large enough to accommodate several people. The 2nd story balcony is also quite large and equally faces the ocean. The inside of Villa #9 is furnished with beautiful caribbean style furniture and decor that is comfortable yet tastefully stylish. The kitchen is equally well furnished with any type of cooking, baking and grilling tools you may need. The only thing you need is to purchase your food & drink items - the rest is provided to you including a well stocked spice cabinet for all tastes. Villa #9 is highly recommended to any visitor who is looking for the comforts of home away from home but at an excellent location unlike nowhere else. From the moment you begin planning your trip to the moment of your departure, you will be in communication with the friendly owner of Villa #9 as well as with the friendly management. You will arrive well prepared on the who's, what's, where's and when's of every detail of your arrival and departure to the island. At your departure, you will be equally well prepared on every aspect of your departure from The Villas of Great Bay. Your only responsibility is to relax and make the best of your vacation. Villa #9 is a true gem in St Maarten and very likely one you should not pass up."

  • Love, Love, Love Villa Valhalla!

"We could not have picked a more perfect place for our group of 8 adults (three families, all related). Perfect style-casual & comfortable; perfect layout-open & easy; perfect setting-gorgeous views & superbly located. Daphne was a pleasure to work with, as were Ken, Catherine and Catherine's assistant. As to the VRBO review questions: the listing description was accurate, the pictures reflect the property (only we think it feels larger than the pictures show), the property was clean and well-maintained (it is a rental property), the owner was more-than-helpful in answering questions (above and beyond), and we would all recommend to family and friends. As for things to do; hanging out at the Villa is hard to beat! We liked Sunset Bar/Maho Beach to watch the planes, snorkeling at Dawn Beach and Mullet Bay Beach. Mr. Busby’s/ Daniel’s was the best food we had - although the service was sub-par all four time we were there... and yes, some of us kept going back! (Note that patrons were visible frustrated with the lack of service, and I have to wonder if this was an anomaly? We did not experience this at any other restaurant.) The Marigot open market was nice and we picked up fresh Mahi-Mahi and Lobster early one morning. Opens at 7AM-go early for fish, and they will hold it for you if you want to shop just a little. I loved the very spicy, delicious, fish tacos at Dinghy Dock (Tue night special), and the 21-year-olds liked the fish & chips, but the "old" guys would not go back for the food! All of these things to do, and places to eat, are so subjective – just suffice it to say that you will not go wrong with Daphne, and her family's little piece of paradise! Can’t thank Daphne, Catherine and Ken enough! Three Families from Minnesota"

  • We had an amazing week at the Arches!

"You have found the Arches, so you can stop looking for a place to stay. We stayed a week at the Arches in April 2014. We had 3 couples and we had an amazing time. We are already planning on going back next year and staying at the Arches again. The house is perfect, spacious, amazing views, every amenity you may want (except for a hot tub). Sitting in the pool in the afternoon with a drink, watching the waves crash was perfect. We did all the "usual" things, going to Mr. Busby's for the $1 beers at happy hour (good food, although maybe overpriced at night), driving around the island to Marigot, Grand Case for dinner, Philipsburg, and of course, hanging out at the Sunset Bar by the airport. The location of the Arches provides easy access to everywhere, although it does take a little while to get used to driving on the island (but that's typical of all Caribbean island). The drive up the hills to the Arches can be a little challenging the first time, but once you're used to it, it's easy. Bernard and Eudora are great and very accommodating, and the owners make the whole process very easy. The kitchen is stocked with virtually everything you need, including various pantry items and liquors (everyone leaves behind what they didn't consume, so there are plenty of condiments, spices, etc.). It is an uphill walk from the beach, which may be challenging for some, and you will need mosquito repellent (again, standard in the Caribbean). It is a perfect location, and amazing house, and we will absolutely be going back to the Arches."

St Maarten Travel Tips

St. Maarten Resorts Present a Personal Holiday

Do you want a personal stay, where it feels like the owners have set everything up just for you? If you want a kitchen for home-cooked meals, a centrally located home, and the sunrise outside your bedroom window then St. Maarten lodging is precisely what you need. Act now as every year, more and more people find the little gem that holds St. Maarten resorts. You will have your pick of St. Maarten rentals along the coastline on Antilles.

The Antilles and St. Maarten Lodging

Antilles is a large island in the Caribbean waiting to greet you with perfect St. Maarten rentals. The island is owned by the French and the Dutch which peacefully share the land. St. Maarten is the Dutch side of Antilles, which is also the smaller portion of the landmass. The French spelling of St. Maarten is St. Martin, which helps you locate the proper St. Maarten lodging when you plan your vacation. The climate at St. Maarten resorts is a sunny and balmy 80 degrees Fahrenheit virtually year-round, so you can visit at any time of year.

St. Maarten Rentals near Ruby Bute’s Studio

A true delight for many vacationers to St. Maarten rentals is visiting Ruby Bute, one of the most famous island artists. She creates botanical landscapes and images of island life through her paintings and poetry. Her studio and gallery are open in Marigot, north of downtown near Friar’s Bay. You might want to call first to make sure she is welcoming visitors for the day you plan the trip, and bring local currency to come home with one of her reasonably priced prints.

Island Gambling at St. Maarten Resorts

St. Maarten lodging is conveniently located near the island’s 12 casinos. All of these casinos are located on the Dutch side and with gaming in the European mode. Spend your late nights inside the St. Maarten resorts' casinos, and your days along the various beaches.
