  • Perfect Vacation...Perfect Location

"My husband and I love going to the BVI's! We actually own a lovely two bedroom unit at a beautiful resort just across the channel from A Dream Come True so our expectations were already high. We wanted to bring our family down to spend some quality time with them and needed to find a larger place where we could all be together! We were seven adults and an 11 month old grand baby! We also needed to have easy access to our boat as we would be spending time on it as well. We booked a dream come true and it truly was just that!! You enter the property through a rustic gate and immediately blown away by the view through lush tropical foliage across the beautiful patio and infinity pool right into Savannah bay and Drakes Passage. Off in the distance is Beef Island, Scrub Island and The Dogs. Sailboats are peacefully ancho in the bay and the water is spectacular! Walk down the natural stone steps and arrive at the main house. The main floor has a beautiful open concept kitchen and living area. Lots of books and videos if you have time for such things...I couldn't take my eyes off the water when I was there! There is great space around the pool as well as a large covered outdoor dining and living area. Each of the five bedrooms are spacious and private with fabulous outdoor showers...my second favorite part of our stay! My husband and I stayed upstairs in the Bali wing and slept with the windows open every night! You could hear the waves below which I loved! It is a very short walk down the hill to a beautiful sand beach at Mango Bay....we took our family portrait here! We were treated to a lovely dinner by Chef Puck and Germaine the housekeeper was there everyday to make sure all was in order and answer any questions we might have. Germaine Fritz (owner) was the best concierge I have ever encountered when renting a property. She was in contact with us through the entire process...setting up dinner, getting us rental cars, coordinating transfers etc. There were fresh flowers in every room...a lovely and unexpected touch as well as pina colada makings and everything we would need for breakfast our first day here. We usually visit Virgin Gorda via our boat and never get to eat dinner because we don't like driving across back across the channel at night. We took advantage of this during our stay: The view at Hog Heaven is spectacular! Chez Bamboo, the Rock Cafe, Coppermine, Top of the Baths and Coco Maya are all FABULOUS! Thanks Germaine for EVERYTHING!"

  • Best Spot On The Island

"This is our second time returning to Tres Amigos Beach House, we wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. The house is amazing. Myself, as a surfer, can check the waves without even getting out of bed! Just steps away from the beach, with private access, my wife and kids could lounge and watch me surf / walk back to the house whenever they want. When sitting outside on the patio, inside the house, or swinging in the hammock, the sunset is just magnificent and breathtaking. Everyone is friendly, even going in to town, you never feel unsafe or unsure, as most everyone speaks English and is very approachable - never a worry in the world. We even traveled to some of the nearby resorts to lay near the pool and check out their restaurants - all were very accommodating. Every restaurant in the area has great food and we didn't have one bad meal. We highly recommend staying at Amigos Beach House and we'll definitely be back again! Thanks!"

  • Wonderful Villa, Great Location, Kid Friendly

"My wife and I have been to St. John three times (staying once in the owner's other villa) and each time it is of course fantastic. Calypso was a great home away from home with everything you need from kitchen supplies, coolers, beach stuff (and for kids!) and cards for the late night games. We brought our two kids aged 5 and 3 and the villa manager set up one room for them as we stayed next door. We also brought my wives parents and all four of the adults agreed that Calypso was the nicest villa we have stayed in so far. The hot tub is a great plus even though the weather is always perfect. The porches are great to relax outside and even in a 3BR you have so much space sometimes it is hard to find each other! The pool is awesome with great views and really what else can you ask for. The location is right next to the supermarkets and Cruz Bay for the late nights or early dinners and drinks. We would highly recommend, though it seems many agree as it is ALWAYS booked! Thanks to the owners for a wonderful time and we will be back again next year!"

  • GREAT for a Family!

"Villa Twin Palms is everything the reviews say it is. We were there during an extremely windy week in St. Martin. As the villa is on the windward side, the wind made Dawn Beach a bad spot to be; but the French side provided some break from the winds, and it turned out to be a wonderful week of mostly sunshine. If you do go to Dawn Beach, take the blue towels, as you will not be bothered by the Westin staff; don't order anything, or they'll ask for a room number. The house is wonderful for a familiy with teenagers - SO roomy and livable. You get up and just want to hang out in sun by the pool. Two of the security shutters broke and there were some other minor issues, but a quick call to ReMax got things fixed quickly. We didn't have the security system code, and the key fob for that didn't work, so make sure you resolve that before coming. The sound system in the home is getting old, so the CD player basically doesn't work; and there was no place to plug in an iPod despite what the writeup says. Highly recommend having the fridge stocked wtih basics; that was a nice service, especially if you are arriving late and don't know the lay of the land. Having the cats stop for some food and attention was really fun. There is literally everything you need in the house, so don't sweat the small stuff. Poke around and you'll find everything. The minor complaints (above) were really minor. This is an incredible home, with very gracious owners, property managers and a wonderful maid. One would be very hard pressed to find anything better on the island. If you have never been to St. Martin, or to a Caribbean island, heads up for the road situation. The roads are all narrow and in lousy condition, especially on the Dutch side by the villa. Make sure you get a 4x4 and take your time! It only takes a day to get the hang of it - everyone is really polite and careful on the road, but it's nerve-wracking at first. For activities, look up Captain Bob Soualiga for a six-hour boat ride with only a few others on a 39-foot triple-outboard, Just an amazing way to see the island on day one or two - check out their reviews on Trip Advisor. Octopus Diving in Grand Case for the novice snorkler is incredible - ask for Sam and Jack if you can. Cherie's Cafe for a fun night of music and a wacky show at Maho Beach is awesome. And don't miss a day trip to Pinel Island. Villa Twin Palms - a huge value over any resort, and much more 'soul!'"

St. Barthelemy Travel Tips

Seasons to Travel to St. Barthelemy Vacation Rentals

St. Barthelemy is a small horseshoe-shaped island located near St. Maarten in the Caribbean. It is an independent French territory that once was part of Guadeloupe. The island is more often simply referred to as St. Barts or St. Barths. With its location in the Caribbean, it enjoys a year-round warm tropical climate. The summer months can get humid and most rainfall occurs during this time of year. Typically, the thunderstorms are intense and short-lived. The sunshine often returns afterward and visitors can enjoy clear skies. Occasional tropical storms can blow through during the late summer months. While it is a destination that is visited all year long, the most popular travel season tends to be between December and April. Many people travel from Europe and North America to escape from colder northern climates. At this time of year, it is also less humid and the days are still enjoyably warm.

VIP Visitors to St. Barthelemy Villas

St. Barths has over the years built a reputation for being one of the elite Caribbean vacation destinations. Perhaps it is because it is fairly remote and not particularly well known that it remains a favorite hideaway for European royalty and Hollywood celebrities. Even relatively early on in its history, the island developed a talent for creating commerce which turned it into a relatively wealthy island compared to many of its Caribbean neighbors. The resorts and vacation homes are exclusive and stylish with hefty price tags to match. If it is a remote and private vacation destination that you are looking for, then it's well worth it.

Top Attractions near St. Barthelemy Resort Rentals

Some of St. Barth's main attractions are its beautiful beaches. The island is volcanic in nature which has resulted in a number of secluded coves and quiet beaches. Never far away are superb restaurants and beach bars where you can enjoy some local cuisine. The island is a duty-free tax haven and offers some superb shopping facilities. The main streets are lined with glamorous and designer boutiques showing off all kinds of fashions and accessories. It is somewhere where you can spoil yourself with that pair of designer shoes you have been eying for a while. If you would like to enjoy the azure blue ocean, you can arrange a charter on one of the many luxury yachts moored in the harbor. Cruising around the coastline, you can drop anchor near one of the reefs and spend the day snorkeling and swimming.

Getting to Caribbean Vacation Rentals in St. Barthelemy

St. Barths has a small airport with a tarmac runway but can only accommodate smaller commercial aircraft. Larger commercial aircraft such as air buses cannot land on the island. For international travelers, you will first travel to the neighboring island of the Dutch-governed St. Maarten. From there, you can get a quick 10-minute shuttle flight across to St. Barths. There are several airlines operating shuttle flights, and charter companies are also available for private charter flights. As an alternative routing, you can also fly via Guadeloupe. The regional flight takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes, depending on which airline you choose. If charter flights are your preferred way of travel, you can look into routing via the islands of Antigua or San Juan on Puerto Rico. Once on the island, the easiest way to get around is by taxi. Car rentals and chauffeur-driven vehicles are also available. These can be arranged at the airport upon arrival or by contacting a local operator in advance.
