  • Our own private escape

"We had a great time at this vacation rental. It had everything we needed. Because we were there just a short time (5 days) we didn't have the opportunity to cook much of our own food, but it seemed as though the kitchen was stocked to do so. There was air conditioning in the bedroom, but we didn’t need it. There were windows on all sides of the house for a nice cross-breeze. We didn’t make use of the bunk beds in the second bedroom, but there was more than enough space to store our clothing. The outdoor shower was a nice plus after walking on the beach. The next door neighbours were very friendly, although we didn’t see much of them. The street was very quiet, and we could usually only hear birds. At times we could hear planes taking off, but it really didn’t bother us. The beach house felt like our own private escape. Walking along the beach during the day and at sunset was great. You can walk a long way in either direction. We took advantage of the location to have a sunset dinner at Eclipse, and to go horseback riding. For other places, we needed a car. When you stay here, go to Ola Lola's. Not only was the food great, but the owner gave us recommendations of his favorite things to do in and around Isabela. He suggested that the waves were too high that week to swim within walking distance of the beach house, and sent us to Crashboat Beach. We aren’t surfers, but it seemed like the area around the beach house would be great for surfing. The house has maps, guidebooks, and printouts of places that surfers might like to visit. It made a great base for trips to the surrounding area (including Gozalandia falls), and was an easy drive from the San Juan airport. The owner was extremely helpful and responded quickly to emails. We can’t wait to return!"

  • Perfect Tree House

"My husband and I recently returned from three weeks at the Hawks Nest and are already planning to return next winter! This was our second stay and while the cottage is close to Cruz Bay and within walking distance of several beautiful north shore beaches, it has a very secluded and private feel. We think of it as the coolest tree house ever! The well equipped kitchen has everything needed to prepare meals and we ate most of them at the cottage. Occasionally we would get carry out from one of our favorite restaurants and light a candle and enjoy the meal on the deck. The sunset views and lights on St. Thomas after dark are absolutely stunning. Falling asleep to the sounds of the ocean and the tree frogs at night was very relaxing. Birds and geckos will come to visit and we were diligent to keep all food in the refrigerator/cooler/microwave. They will help themselves to anything left out! The owners and property management folks at Cimmaron were very friendly and helpful with any questions we had. While the great location of the Hawks Nest does not make it absolutely necessary to rent a car, we always do and end up using it almost every day. There are lots of great places to explore on the east end and south shore and having a car makes it easier. If you ever had a fantasy to live like the Swiss Family Robinson (with modern creature comforts) then this is the place for you! We have visited many places in the Caribbean looking for the one place we would want to return to year after year and the Hawks Nest is it."

  • Island Paradise

"Gorgeous house with spectacular views. Every bedroom has a private bathroom and a view. Walk or quick drive to beautiful, uncrowded beached with excellent swimming, boating, and snorkeling. Great for one or more families. Pool and sun deck. Athena and Jay ate accessible and fix any problem promptly. Convenient to our favorite restaurant, Sweet Plantain, in Coral Bay."

  • Wonderful stay at the Treehouse

"This was my fourth time staying at the Treehouse, but the first time in this apartment with 6 other people. The beds were comfortable, the rooms are always very clean there's a full kitchen and a dining room table. We were 7 people staying here - 2 youngest in the loft (which has a staircase that is not for older people) Having 3 full bathrooms was great at the end of the day when everyone needs to get ready for dinner and bed time. The staff at the Treehouse is fabulous and friendly. The owner is a very lovely person who cares about her guests. You can't ask for a better beach - you're right in the center of it all here. Many restaurants nearby and the hotel's restaurant and bar serve delicious food and drinks. Thank you again for a wonderful experience! I will be back!"

St. Barthelemy Travel Tips

Seasons to Travel to St. Barthelemy Vacation Rentals

St. Barthelemy is a small horseshoe-shaped island located near St. Maarten in the Caribbean. It is an independent French territory that once was part of Guadeloupe. The island is more often simply referred to as St. Barts or St. Barths. With its location in the Caribbean, it enjoys a year-round warm tropical climate. The summer months can get humid and most rainfall occurs during this time of year. Typically, the thunderstorms are intense and short-lived. The sunshine often returns afterward and visitors can enjoy clear skies. Occasional tropical storms can blow through during the late summer months. While it is a destination that is visited all year long, the most popular travel season tends to be between December and April. Many people travel from Europe and North America to escape from colder northern climates. At this time of year, it is also less humid and the days are still enjoyably warm.

VIP Visitors to St. Barthelemy Villas

St. Barths has over the years built a reputation for being one of the elite Caribbean vacation destinations. Perhaps it is because it is fairly remote and not particularly well known that it remains a favorite hideaway for European royalty and Hollywood celebrities. Even relatively early on in its history, the island developed a talent for creating commerce which turned it into a relatively wealthy island compared to many of its Caribbean neighbors. The resorts and vacation homes are exclusive and stylish with hefty price tags to match. If it is a remote and private vacation destination that you are looking for, then it's well worth it.

Top Attractions near St. Barthelemy Resort Rentals

Some of St. Barth's main attractions are its beautiful beaches. The island is volcanic in nature which has resulted in a number of secluded coves and quiet beaches. Never far away are superb restaurants and beach bars where you can enjoy some local cuisine. The island is a duty-free tax haven and offers some superb shopping facilities. The main streets are lined with glamorous and designer boutiques showing off all kinds of fashions and accessories. It is somewhere where you can spoil yourself with that pair of designer shoes you have been eying for a while. If you would like to enjoy the azure blue ocean, you can arrange a charter on one of the many luxury yachts moored in the harbor. Cruising around the coastline, you can drop anchor near one of the reefs and spend the day snorkeling and swimming.

Getting to Caribbean Vacation Rentals in St. Barthelemy

St. Barths has a small airport with a tarmac runway but can only accommodate smaller commercial aircraft. Larger commercial aircraft such as air buses cannot land on the island. For international travelers, you will first travel to the neighboring island of the Dutch-governed St. Maarten. From there, you can get a quick 10-minute shuttle flight across to St. Barths. There are several airlines operating shuttle flights, and charter companies are also available for private charter flights. As an alternative routing, you can also fly via Guadeloupe. The regional flight takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes, depending on which airline you choose. If charter flights are your preferred way of travel, you can look into routing via the islands of Antigua or San Juan on Puerto Rico. Once on the island, the easiest way to get around is by taxi. Car rentals and chauffeur-driven vehicles are also available. These can be arranged at the airport upon arrival or by contacting a local operator in advance.
