  • Amazing Wonderful and Beautiful

"Everything about The Retreat was great, if I were to design a beach house this would be my floor plan! It had great common and private areas. The manager, Dena was warm, funny, helpful, and accommodating in every way! Are there Mosquitos on ST. John? Yes lots of them, it's a tropical island. But our villa was one of the few havens from them. The screens allowed for constant tranquil breezes. A/C was never even a thought. The views are the most amazing I have ever seen (I am a world traveler and lived in Hawaii for years) There a spectacular views around every turn in St. John but the one from every room of this villa are WOW, the reviewer above must be blind because the view of the BVIs is totally outstanding. The driveway is challenging, as are 99% of St. John driveways, but you get the hang of it. The villa is white now not green like the photos. This villa allowed for maximum privacy, you haven't lived until you've taken a shower looking out at the Caribbean Sea. The beds are incredibly comfortable. I'd go back just for that! We fully plan to return again and again."

  • Beautiful water

"We loved the bay at Orchid Bay. Beautiful water which gradually got deeper. Made it great for swimming/boating/kayaking/paddle boarding. The water is aqua, but milky from sediments on bottom. Bottom is gooey with rocks (wear water shoes.) Casita we stayed in was very nice. You have a good restaurant in Orchid Bay, and we found good food at Copper Bank Inn. Also local taco place in Consejo Shores. Be prepared for very rough roads and going over two hand-cranked ferrys on the way, which is very quaint and interesting, but allow for extra time to to get there. Try to travel in daylight secondary to road conditions and poor signage. Gas stations few and far between; plan accordingly. Go with a 4 wheel drive rental."

  • Fabulous!

"Our family of 5 stayed here for 4 days and were very, very pleased. From the house, it is a short walk to the entrance to the Baths and the Mad Dog eatery. In the backyard are some wonderful boulders that are fun to climb. The various decks and patios are a delight to have dinner or late night drinks on. The kitchen had everything you need. We would have preferred air conditioning, but there were ample fans to keep you cool enough. Howard was a pleasure to work with, answering every question and meeting us at the dock and putting a few things in the fridge to start us off. The ability to go the Baths early and late, thus avoiding the boat crowd, was magical. Howard had mentioned that the 5th and 6th beds were child-sized, but our 5'4" daughter slept comfortably enough in one of them, with an inch or two to spare."

  • Amazing vacation!

"My family tremendously enjoyed staying at the condo. Location is great as well as the property. The best part in my opinion was the patio directly on the water. We found beds to be comfortable, kitchen well-equipped and Wi-Fi seamless;few times that we required assistance of property manager she was always available and resolved our issues immediately. Would definitely go back in a heartbeat!"

St. Barthelemy Travel Tips

Seasons to Travel to St. Barthelemy Vacation Rentals

St. Barthelemy is a small horseshoe-shaped island located near St. Maarten in the Caribbean. It is an independent French territory that once was part of Guadeloupe. The island is more often simply referred to as St. Barts or St. Barths. With its location in the Caribbean, it enjoys a year-round warm tropical climate. The summer months can get humid and most rainfall occurs during this time of year. Typically, the thunderstorms are intense and short-lived. The sunshine often returns afterward and visitors can enjoy clear skies. Occasional tropical storms can blow through during the late summer months. While it is a destination that is visited all year long, the most popular travel season tends to be between December and April. Many people travel from Europe and North America to escape from colder northern climates. At this time of year, it is also less humid and the days are still enjoyably warm.

VIP Visitors to St. Barthelemy Villas

St. Barths has over the years built a reputation for being one of the elite Caribbean vacation destinations. Perhaps it is because it is fairly remote and not particularly well known that it remains a favorite hideaway for European royalty and Hollywood celebrities. Even relatively early on in its history, the island developed a talent for creating commerce which turned it into a relatively wealthy island compared to many of its Caribbean neighbors. The resorts and vacation homes are exclusive and stylish with hefty price tags to match. If it is a remote and private vacation destination that you are looking for, then it's well worth it.

Top Attractions near St. Barthelemy Resort Rentals

Some of St. Barth's main attractions are its beautiful beaches. The island is volcanic in nature which has resulted in a number of secluded coves and quiet beaches. Never far away are superb restaurants and beach bars where you can enjoy some local cuisine. The island is a duty-free tax haven and offers some superb shopping facilities. The main streets are lined with glamorous and designer boutiques showing off all kinds of fashions and accessories. It is somewhere where you can spoil yourself with that pair of designer shoes you have been eying for a while. If you would like to enjoy the azure blue ocean, you can arrange a charter on one of the many luxury yachts moored in the harbor. Cruising around the coastline, you can drop anchor near one of the reefs and spend the day snorkeling and swimming.

Getting to Caribbean Vacation Rentals in St. Barthelemy

St. Barths has a small airport with a tarmac runway but can only accommodate smaller commercial aircraft. Larger commercial aircraft such as air buses cannot land on the island. For international travelers, you will first travel to the neighboring island of the Dutch-governed St. Maarten. From there, you can get a quick 10-minute shuttle flight across to St. Barths. There are several airlines operating shuttle flights, and charter companies are also available for private charter flights. As an alternative routing, you can also fly via Guadeloupe. The regional flight takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes, depending on which airline you choose. If charter flights are your preferred way of travel, you can look into routing via the islands of Antigua or San Juan on Puerto Rico. Once on the island, the easiest way to get around is by taxi. Car rentals and chauffeur-driven vehicles are also available. These can be arranged at the airport upon arrival or by contacting a local operator in advance.
