"We stayed at Wave Dance Jan14th-Feb 10th 2015.We were a large group and rented both units, 5 adults and 4 children (12,10,5,3). We loved our stay in the DR!! The house was clean and comftorble. Upon arrival we arranged Geoff and Peggy were very helpful with all ( and we had a lot) of questions! They helped us arrange pick up from the airport by Jose, we flew in to Santiago de los Caballeros, if you can avoid flying in to there i would do so!! I was a 1 1/2 hour drive to Cabarete. Puerto Plata is only 30 min away! We arrived at the house late evening and we were greeted by Peggy's assistant to show us around the house to get us settled which was very nice!, Jose also took us in tho Puerto Plata that night to grocery shop so nice!!! We chose to not rent a car while in the DR and it turned out just fine! Jose lent us a phone so we could call him to arrange travel as we needed. He took us on a day trip to the most wonderful beach, and let us stay all day and play!!There was a small grocery store right down the street that was fine for day to day things, and once a week we got a cab in to Puerto Plata. We would walk to town during to day on the beach or the street and it was fine,a little stressful on the street with the kids!! DO NOT walking al night!! I repeat DO NOT WALK AT NIGHT!! The house was very family friendly, all the doors to the pool area lock and the back top deck does not have assess to the ground floor, so we felt safe with the little ones! The house is in a gated comity and all the guars were so nice and friendly! We felt very safe! We we're a large group with lots of different interest so we went our own ways some days but we found a few things that all of us could do together, and all ages could participate! We went almost daily in the early evening to Kaiceitos Circus School, the kids LOVED it!! We took a day trip with Kayak River Adventures and it was one of the highlights of out trip!T hey picked up up in the morning and provided snacks and a dinner cooked by a family over a open fire that was to die for! This was a great adventure for all ages, we had ages from 65 to 3 and they all enjoyed it! These two things we're very affordable:) We all also enjoyed the horse back rides that are right on the beach! Our big splurge was Ocean Wold in Puerto Plata, we took the older kids to swim wit the dolphins and it was worth every penny!!It was a fun place!I think we had the most fun just hanging at the house at the pool and at the beach!WILL BE BACK!"

  • Spectacular experience

"Authentic charm and relaxing atmosphere are the key elements that make this property special. You have the feel of being at a beach resort, tropical and lush. Yet you are spoiled by having private and exclusive access to the beautiful house, warm and welcoming staff, and amazing view. This is the perfect location with amenities for large groups. Plenty of space for privacy and quiet when needed and desired, yet fantastic space for being social. The Bone Bar, pool, and living room inspired fun games and conversations with our group. As did the dining room where we all enjoyed the home cooked meals by a staff of talented and friendly cooks. Felon (trusted-driver) was accessible and ready to take us any where we wanted. He is quite knowledgeable about local areas, must see spots, and culture. He took us to a nearby beach and arranged for a fabulous lunch of lobster, salad, and specialty drinks. Was truly one of the best days of our trip! Nicole made sure daily that we had everything we needed and wanted. She made sure fresh food was brought in daily and helped suggest lunch and dinner menus. Her focus was making sure everyone was having fun and had everything they desired. Before leaving, I polled the group for feedback and everyone was very happy with the accommodations, food, service, location, atmosphere, etc.. We felt pampered, relaxed, and all of us left smitten with the Dominican Republic."

  • "Spectacular View" doesn't even come CLOSE!!!

"We were lucky to stay in Coral Bay for one month this year. Our first week was spent at Mountain Haven. What a tremendous way to begin. Although the photos on this VRBO site are beautiful, nothing truly prepares you for your first walk around the corner on the deck. I kept telling my husband that it was so incredibly beautiful, it looked fake! Well, it isn't. I *worked* every morning from a table and my view was expansive and breathtaking. Every day we would put out sugar for the birds and it was so nice to see them gathering to feast. The place was beautifully appointed inside and out. We found the bed to be very comfortable, the kitchen clean and full of everything we needed. The closet space was most appreciated, as it was quite large. The bathroom was very clean, the outdoor shower (it's in a separate room off of the deck) was very clean and convenient, too. Last, but certainly not least: Part of our experience that really stood out for us this week was the hospitality and friendliness of the managers, Thom and Jackie. From the moment they welcomed us at the Ferry, we felt a bond with them. They are talkative and abound with energy and knowledge about the island. They definitely gave us our private space, but we contacted them to hang out with us on a few deck evenings, too. When we had some trouble with our rental car later in our vacation (and at this point, not even staying at Mountain Haven), we contacted them and they helped us with a solution. We were so appreciative of this and of the property owner's assistance as well. For these and many other reasons, we hope to enjoy Mountain Haven in the future. I cannot get that VIEW off of my mind!"

St. Kitts & Nevis Travel Tips

Getting to St. Kitts and Nevis Vacation Rentals

The primary airport for St. Kitts and Nevis is the Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw International Airport that is located on the island of St. Kitts. The airport has the facilities to accommodate commercial jumbo jets that operate on long-haul flights. There are regular commercial flights from major European cities such as Amsterdam and Paris. There are also frequent flights from Miami and New York City among other North America destinations. There is only a smaller regional airport on Nevis and most flights route via St. Kitts. Charter and scheduled flights operate daily on smaller aircraft between the two islands. There are also water taxis and ferries that operate on regular daily schedules, weather permitting.

As an alternative routing to get to Nevis, you may also consider routing via St. Maarten or Antigua. Both these destinations have regular flights on to Nevis as well as ferries that operate between the islands on a regular basis. Once on the islands, it is relatively easy to get around. Taxis provide transport to and from the airport and your vacation destination. Car rental is widely available and easy to organize. If you want to do some independent exploring, this will be your best transport option.

Visitors to St. Kitts and Nevis Villas

St. Kitts and Nevis are two islands that attract nature lovers and those who appreciate natural surroundings. The islands have a wealth of cultural attractions for those who enjoy local arts and crafts, and bargaining for souvenirs at the local markets and small shops. The beaches with their beautiful sands are favorite places to laze and catch a suntan. Sun lovers can enjoy their own private share of paradise.

Things to See and Do at St. Kitts and Nevis Resort Rentals

The islands of St. Kitts and Nevis are favored with consistent sea breezes as well as the northeasterly trade winds. This makes it a popular sailing destination in the Caribbean. Both islands have many beautiful beaches. Some are secluded coves where you can enjoy a private picnic. Others are lined with beach bars and restaurants, providing refreshments and entertainment.

St. Kitts and Nevis have interesting histories as they were discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1493. It is reported that he sailed past the island but did not land. More than a century later, a group of British settlers decided to make the island their new home. Ruins of fortified walls from these early settlements can still be seen on the islands today. There are several museums which detail the interesting history but perhaps the best way to experience the culture is to meander down the streets seeking out the old colonial buildings, shop at the local markets, and explore the landscapes on horseback. For the more energetic, you can go mountain biking through the interior. There are also several hiking routes and nature trails you can explore.

Best Season to Visit Caribbean Vacation Rentals in St. Kitts and Nevis

In any given month, you can enjoy warm temperatures on St. Kitts and Nevis. The islands enjoy a warm tropical climate with rain that occurs throughout the year. Rain showers are generally brief and blow over quickly. The exception is during hurricane season when tropical storms bring strong winds and heavy rain that can last for several days. Tropical storms can occur any time between June and November and seem to occur most frequently in August. Humidity is relatively low compared to other Caribbean islands which makes it a more ideal vacation destination. Aside from the stormy season, it is a destination that can be visited all year-round. In general, the popular time of year for tourists is between December and March.
