  • Home away from Home!

"I have just returned from a 4 week stay in this villa. It was immaculate, spacious and everything I expected during my stay. The grounds were very well maintained. The villa is walking distance to the strip in Frigate Bay, the beach, and restaurants. However, if you want to explore the island I would recommend renting a car. I love to run and each morning I felt very comfortable running in the area. The unit was equipped with everything that I needed.  I was really pleased with the location, space, and especially the mattresses. Deon was very helpful. During my stay Janice was on hand to address any concerns. I plan to return next summer.   I would highly recommend this villa for your stay while on the island.  The information provided online depicted an accurate picture of the property. What you see is what you get! This is an awesome villa! Thanks for making my stay enjoyable!"

  • Heart still singing from week at Ocean Song Villa

"We had 3 couples staying at Ocean Song villa last week. And though the main house had enough bedrooms for us, we rented the cottage as well because we didn't want anyone else there during our stay. After 4 years straight of villa vacations on St Barth, I can honestly say that St Kitts was a refreshing change of pace for us. Most of that was due entirely to the hospitality of Ricky and Penny, the use of their lovely beach house, and their property manager, Franklin! The villa is worth renting for those 3 things alone! We found the furnishings to be very comfortable, and the space laid out nicely for three or four couples. Loved starting and ending our days with a dip in the pool! Like others mentioned, the roads on the island in general are not the best, and the dirt road to the villa was menacing. But our rental cars, a minivan and a jeep wrangler, managed just fine. Also mentioned in other reviews was the fact that the beach was covered in spots with sea grass. But part of that was because of the reef in the waters just off the beach, which provided excellent and convenient snorkeling for our group. When you add in the fact that you could walk to the Reggae Beach Bar and Spice Mill restaurant, I think it was a fair trade-off. And if you have any doubts about the sea grass, factor in the convenience of the beach house and its "honor bar", and it becomes a significant value! When we wanted to take a stroll or swim on a beach sans grass, we borrowed Ricky's sand chairs and made the quick drive over to Sandy Bank beach, which has a shallow white-sand beach that allows you to wade pretty far out but still only have water up to your knees or waist. Ricky, Penny and Franklin proved to be the most perfect hosts and an invaluable source of information during our week there. We dined in every night except 2 because Franklin was able to get us some great fresh swordfish steaks (enough for 2 dinners!) and parboiled lobsters 2 nights that we finished on the grill at the villa. And though we had some great food at other places on the island, none was better than those we prepared ourselves. Other recommendations: Spice Mill was a nice place for dinner; on Ricky's recommendation, we had drinks at sunset at the Salt Plage--a must do; it's worth the ride around the island to visit Romney Mansion and Brimstone Fortress (get their hot sauce!); and if you make the trip around, definitely plan to have lunch at Kittitian Hill's Belle Mont Farm! Highly recommend!"

  • Great island, great condo, great vacation!

"We had a very relaxing stay in this beautiful condo. The condo is very clean, spacious, well stocked and beautifully furnished. The owners have thought of absolutely everything. We enjoyed the balcony and the patio doors. There was no need to use the air conditioning as there was always a cooling breeze. We found the door code so much more convenient than having to worry about keys. The biggest problem for us was deciding to spend our day at one of the 3 pools or the nearby beaches. There are many good restaurants within easy walking distance. The island is beautiful and the locals are very friendly and helpful. We were 4 women and always felt welcome and safe. We didn't bother with a car as the taxis are plentiful and not expensive. The owners were very easy to work with and provided us with lots of information and helpful tips. Thank you Wynona for sharing your beautiful home with us."

  • A Million Dollar View!

"The island of St Kitts is shaped like a comma. The capital is Basetere and it is in the middle of the comma. North of Basettere is where most Kittitians live. Immediately south of Basseterre is the area of Frigate Bay with hotels, restaurants and a few beaches. Now if one heads south-east from Basseterre, one heads into an area of hills, coves and bays. It is in this very beautiful area that this villa is situated. About 2 miles from the the southeastern tip of St Kitts (not very far from where the villa is) is the island of Nieves. The two islands are separated by the Narrows, about a 2 mile stretch of ocean connecting the Atlantic Ocean to the Caribbean Sea and this is the view one has from the balcony of the villa and the bedrooms! Just awesome! The house perches on the side of a hill and is about 5 min by foot to the beach. This is probably one of the most well-built homes I have rented on VRBO. It is in a quiet, safe and secluded area. There us no nightlife! The bedrooms and family room face the ocean bringing in the sea breeze. There are mosquito nets everywhere to prevent those bites. The home is CLEAN. Th kitchen is very nice and well-stocked. We didn't have internet access for a few days but that was an island-wide problem. The infinity pool is small but does it's job. There is a much bigger pool not too far away called the OCEAN! The caretaker is nice and very helpful. He has a small SUV he rents out. MY advice - GET IT!. it is nice, newer and well-kept. As mentioned earlier, there is a small beach about 5 min down the hill. The waves are strong there and with strong winds, seaweed tends to collect. About less than a 10 min drive will get you to Cockleshell beach. Get there early to avoid the crowds from the cruise ships. The same amount of driving time will get you to Majors Bay. The beach there is totally not commercialized and affords a "Robinson-Crusoe"-like experience. There are 2 beach bars/restaurants which stay open to about 6 - Lion Rock and Reggae Bar. The Spice Mill stays open longer. One has to drive to Frigate Bay or Basseterre for groceries. The road is not very good but manageable with an SUV. The road twists and turns through the hills with breathtaking views of both the Atlantic and Caribbean Sea. Driving on it after sunset is challenging. So, if you want a very clean, nice and secluded villa with amazing ocean and mountain views, don't look any further."

St. Kitts (St. Christopher) Travel Tips

Favorite Time of Year to Visit St. Kitts Vacation Rentals

Like many other Caribbean destinations, the peak travel season runs from December to April. This is due to a number of reasons. Firstly, it is when many travelers from the northern hemisphere look to escape from the cold winter weather at home. Secondly, it is the more temperate season on St. Kitts when the days are typically warm and dry. In general, the island enjoys a year-round tropical climate. Humidity levels increase during the summer months, owing to frequent rainfall. Tropical storms sometimes blow over the island in the late summer months of September and October. August often sees the heaviest rainfall. If you want to avoid the crowds but still get to enjoy good weather, you may consider traveling in the shoulder season. Often there are great travel specials offered on flights and accommodations that you can take advantage of.

Attractions and Activities near St. Kitts Villas

If you want to experience some of the local culture of St. Kitts, visit the Caribelle Batik Factory. Here you can watch as artisans use wax and colorful dyes to create a wide range of fabric items. This fabric is then used to make dresses, t-shirts and home linens. Basseterre is the island's capital and a vibrant city. There are many monuments and quaint shops that you can explore at leisure. The beaches and beach bars of St. Kitts are legendary. Spend the days working on your tan and in the evenings, enjoy a few cocktails as you watch the sunset.

Getting to St. Kitts Resort Rentals

The main airport on St. Kitts is known as the Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw International Airport. The airport is modern structure and boasts a host of modern facilities. It can accommodate international flights and has landing facilities for large jumbo jets. The airport hosts regular commercial flights from North America, Europe and South America. There daily direct flights come from major cities in the U.S., such as Miami, Atlanta, and New York City. When searching for flights, you may want to consider routing via one of these cities. The airport is also the main travel hub for connecting flights on to the neighboring islands as there are also regularly scheduled flights to other Caribbean islands.

On the island, one of the easiest ways to get around is by taxi. The taxi rates are generally fixed and charged in Euros. Signs detailing the rates can be found posted at the airport and major taxi stands on the island. Car hire is available on the island and there are several reputable agencies in town. You do first need to obtain a local driving permit even if you have an international driver's license. Most rental agencies will provide an airport pick-up service and assist you with getting your local driving permit.

Visitors to Caribbean Vacation Rentals on St. Kitts

St. Kitts is a tropical paradise that seems to float on a turquoise blue sea. It is the type of destination where you can completely relax, unwind and simply soak up the natural beauty of this island paradise. It is one of the lesser-known Caribbean travel destinations and therefore generally caters to the more affluent traveler. Having said this, dress is still very informal on the island, even when eating out in top-quality restaurants. There are many sporting activities for those who enjoy the outdoors. There are hiking trails with beautiful views, and many underwater treasures to explore on the local coral reefs. Divers from around the globe come to dive this tropical paradise.
