"This was the best vacation spot EVER! There were 6 of us. Three couples. The house was set up perfectly for all to have great space to spend together, and apart. Great kitchen for cooking meals when we wanted. The pool was delightful. Pepper was the greatest. He was spoiled by all of us. The decor was so beautiful. Antique furniture accents, all kinds of "boat" remnants that Rick found diving. There was tons of outdoor seating. Definitely stop at the IGA to pick up food. RAMS grocery was very limited on choices. We rented a 4-wheel drive from Bulls Eye which was perfect for the pot holes and dirt roads. We went together on a wonderful 6 hour sailing/snorkeling trip with Nevis Yatchs. Give them a call if you want a great trip with lots of Rum Punch. We had a blast. My husband and I love snorkeling. The water was warm, even in March! We went every day at the waterfront cottage. It was wonderful! Never saw so many fish snorkeling. Big sting ray, spotted sting rays. Puffer fish. And so nice to be able to walk to the beach! Rick and Penny provide gear if you don't have your own. Plenty of beach towels provided, too. No need to bring your own. Rick and Penny had great restaurant suggestions. Very relaxing and beautiful! Hope we can go back sometime soon!"

  • Two weeks in Paradise

"My husband and I, and our two young children (3 and 3 months), just returned from 2 wonderful weeks in St. Kitts. The condo offered everything that we needed and we felt right at home for the entire stay. The condo itself was neat, clean and provided all the comfort we needed for our family. The large balcony was a great place for my husband and I to enjoy the sun or some cocktails while the children were napping or asleep at night. The grounds are well kept and very clean. The pool was great to have on the grounds and provided many hours of fun. We absolutely love St. Kitts (we are repeat visitors!)and had a wonderful time this trip discovering new beaches and restaurants during our stay. The island is very laid back, beautiful and safe. It is a wonderful place to visit and Island Paradise is a comfortable place to stay. We will definitely stay there again in the future."

  • YES!

"There is much to say about this property, and about Bill, the owner! ~ First, let's start with Bill. He is wonderful. Beyond wonderful, actually. I have rented properties all over the world, for many years, and I have never encountered a property owner as responsive and thorough as he is. Truly, working with him was an outstanding experience. No question is too small, and he even provided a ton of invaluable info about St. Kitts that I didn't request, once he found out that my daughter would be living there to attend Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. He answered questions while I was in St. Kitts, too, including questions about where to find things on the island. His property manager, Phyllis, is a doll, and was also easy to reach when I had a minor issue with the internet following a power outage that affected much of Frigate Bay. ~ I stayed in Bougainvillea, the lower unit. However, once my upstairs neighbors checked out, I emailed Bill and asked for permission to peek at the upstairs unit, so I could have an idea what it looked like for future rentals. Both units are clean and quite comfortable. I was traveling on my own, but could easily fit another person or two in the unit with me and not feel crowded. The units aren't fancy, but they're homey and sweet, and the bed was super comfortable! ~ Here's the thing to know. You will absolutely not find a better view on the island! I drove all over the place, and in doing so, saw many of the condo complexes I'd considered before renting Bill's unit. And yes, they had water views, but in Bill's unit (either one of them), you are ON the water. There is nothing between you and the water but a path to the private gazebo. The view is what makes the place -- it is to die for. Far better than the Marriott's view or the Timothy Beach Hotel's view. It is perfection. ~ Frigate Bay is truly the place to be. My daughter is at Ross, which is about a 15 minute drive away, but I'm SO glad I stayed in Frigate Bay! It's family friendly, beautiful, and completely safe. (As a single woman traveling alone, I never once felt unsafe in this property!) ~ I rented a car (from Bullseye). It is a bit tricky to find this unit the first time -- because it's tucked away and private! But by following Bill's maps, I found it and once I knew where it was, it was a breeze to get to. Driving around the island is quite easy and fun! ~ Favorite restaurant: Bombay Blues (opposite the Marriott). Fab Indian food."

  • Beautiful Spot. Great Value.

"You can read the superlatives in the other reviews. They are true. I just want to add some tips and perhaps some other helpful information for potential guests. This was our first trip to St. Kitts. We are frequent visitors to the islands (Caymans, Bahamas, BVI, Turks & Caicos, etc...) and stayed 2 of the past 4 years at a mountain side villa on Nevis on the Four Seasons property. Rest assured, this Turtle Beach villa is a far better value than the Four Seasons which is itself a pretty amazing place. One thing we loved was being on the windward side of the island yet being just minutes (by car) from the Caribbean thus having best best of both worlds. Best nearby restaurants/bars are Spice Mill (1 mile). Salt Plage is a new high-end beach bar with a yacht club vibe. Very upscale. Beautiful design. Located just north of the new marina. The sign faces north so it's hard to see coming from the villa and headed back toward the city. Maybe 3 miles away. Carabola beach club was a huge surprise. New and very very snazzy but all opened up to the sea. High end but not too pricey. Maybe 6 miles away...just north of Shipwreck bar. We read in Tripadvisor that when the cruise ships are in then Carabola can be a nightmare so perhaps call ahead. We had a great experience. Also fun but typical Caribbean beach bars are aforementioned Shipwreck and Reggae Beach Bar which is less than a mile from the villa. The personality of Reggae changes based on whether the taxis have dropped off a bunch of cruisers but we went there on several occasions and always had a good time. If you intend on snorkeling we suggest bring your own equipment. There is none at the house and the rentals are expensive and restrictive. We rented a 4x4 from Dwayne the property manager. He picked us up at the airport and filled our pantry as well. You MUST have a 4x4 to get around. The villa is in an isolated part of the island. You will be 20 minutes (over 2 mountains) from Basse Terre. This is a good thing. In no way is the location a negative but you must be able to be mobile. Relying on taxis would be expensive and cumbersome. An additional FYI, we had about a 4 hour gap between when we needed to be out of the villa (10 am.) and when we needed to be at the airport but we wanted to enjoy the day and be able to freshen up before getting on our plane. You can rent a room at the Marriott from 9 am to 6 pm for about $125 bucks. Or just get pool passes. Enjoy. Home is fantastic."

St. Kitts (St. Christopher) Travel Tips

Favorite Time of Year to Visit St. Kitts Vacation Rentals

Like many other Caribbean destinations, the peak travel season runs from December to April. This is due to a number of reasons. Firstly, it is when many travelers from the northern hemisphere look to escape from the cold winter weather at home. Secondly, it is the more temperate season on St. Kitts when the days are typically warm and dry. In general, the island enjoys a year-round tropical climate. Humidity levels increase during the summer months, owing to frequent rainfall. Tropical storms sometimes blow over the island in the late summer months of September and October. August often sees the heaviest rainfall. If you want to avoid the crowds but still get to enjoy good weather, you may consider traveling in the shoulder season. Often there are great travel specials offered on flights and accommodations that you can take advantage of.

Attractions and Activities near St. Kitts Villas

If you want to experience some of the local culture of St. Kitts, visit the Caribelle Batik Factory. Here you can watch as artisans use wax and colorful dyes to create a wide range of fabric items. This fabric is then used to make dresses, t-shirts and home linens. Basseterre is the island's capital and a vibrant city. There are many monuments and quaint shops that you can explore at leisure. The beaches and beach bars of St. Kitts are legendary. Spend the days working on your tan and in the evenings, enjoy a few cocktails as you watch the sunset.

Getting to St. Kitts Resort Rentals

The main airport on St. Kitts is known as the Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw International Airport. The airport is modern structure and boasts a host of modern facilities. It can accommodate international flights and has landing facilities for large jumbo jets. The airport hosts regular commercial flights from North America, Europe and South America. There daily direct flights come from major cities in the U.S., such as Miami, Atlanta, and New York City. When searching for flights, you may want to consider routing via one of these cities. The airport is also the main travel hub for connecting flights on to the neighboring islands as there are also regularly scheduled flights to other Caribbean islands.

On the island, one of the easiest ways to get around is by taxi. The taxi rates are generally fixed and charged in Euros. Signs detailing the rates can be found posted at the airport and major taxi stands on the island. Car hire is available on the island and there are several reputable agencies in town. You do first need to obtain a local driving permit even if you have an international driver's license. Most rental agencies will provide an airport pick-up service and assist you with getting your local driving permit.

Visitors to Caribbean Vacation Rentals on St. Kitts

St. Kitts is a tropical paradise that seems to float on a turquoise blue sea. It is the type of destination where you can completely relax, unwind and simply soak up the natural beauty of this island paradise. It is one of the lesser-known Caribbean travel destinations and therefore generally caters to the more affluent traveler. Having said this, dress is still very informal on the island, even when eating out in top-quality restaurants. There are many sporting activities for those who enjoy the outdoors. There are hiking trails with beautiful views, and many underwater treasures to explore on the local coral reefs. Divers from around the globe come to dive this tropical paradise.
