"Our group of seven arrived on the island for 10 days to celebrate my husband's 50th Birthday in early November. We were greeted at La Batterie with breathtaking views of the Pitons and a gorgeous villa that had all the Caribbean charm we had hoped for. After our tour, it seemed a little overwhelming and but we quickly found our way around. The pool area was beautiful and wonderfully private. The kitchen was well equipped, although we mostly opted for Stephanie to prepare some local favourites for us. We highly recommend her Spicy Beef Roti! All the staff were very welcoming and helpful in any way that we needed. If you ask, Terry will bring you fresh papaya and grapefruit. ...I have never had white grapefruit that was as sweet and juicy as what he brought for us.
For the adventurous, the villa is close enough to walk the twenty minutes into the town of Soufriere, just be prepared to get your exercise back up the hill to the villa! You may want to try dinner at Orlando's in town. It was probably one of the best meals we have ever had, although it was a little pricier than other restos on town. The Petit Peak and Pier 28 were also good. Clavie gave us a tour that included zip lining, the waterfall, drive in volcano and mud baths...so much fun!! We also went to the fish fry in Anse La Raye which was very tasty. Hiking the Pitons was a very challenging but the views at the top were worth the effort. Be fore warned, it is not a hike for the weak kneed or faint of heart!
La Batterie is the perfect home away from home and we hope to get back again very soon. Whether it's sipping your morning coffee or a rum punch while watching the sunset, you will never cease to be spellbound by the views from the main deck. We are still dreaming of it!"

"We had a great time. Your house was fantastic. It was quite an adventure just getting there. Clavie helped us get groceries on the way from the airport. We also bought groceries at Erolines. People in St. Lucia we so helpful and friendly. They gave us directions, helped us to find the ATM. We bought some nice fish at the market. Of course the proximity to Anse Chastanet was fantastic, just down the hill. It was so convenient for scuba diving, snorkeling and the beach.
I also loved the view from your porch of the Pitons and the blue sea. The plunge pools we're nice and refreshing. Your gardens are beautiful. The sound of frogs and insects at night lulled me to sleep. I would come back in a heart beat. Give my regards to Charmaine."

"Brigand Hill is a wonderful place to stay on this spectacular island. Centrally located on the west coast, the villa provides easy access to a variety of activities all over the island for half or full day trips. It's simple beauty & structure, & impeccably maintained grounds reflect the island itself. It's just enough without being too much. For those who really want to feel immersed in the St. Lucian terrain/climate, it's the perfect place to make your home base. Sitting on a hill above the Anse Galet valley, the villa has surreal views of the rugged topography while providing a glimpse of the Caribbean Sea to its west. The bedroom upstairs in the main building has screened shutters, allowing the constant tradewinds to create a cool & airy environment while you sleep at night or nap during the day. When there's a rainstorm, you can hear it approaching as it comes down the valley & descends upon the house. If you're lucky enough to be sleeping when this happens, this room couldn't be a better place to be. At night, you'll hear the sounds of the rainforest take over, & it's like falling asleep on a perfect summer night. Add a bag of ice to the grocery list so you don't run out using the blender :)
George, the caretaker, is extremely knowledgeable on anything/everything St. Lucia-related. Happy to answer all your questions to guide you in the right direction when making plans, he'll even accompany you on an excursion! He came with us on our Gros Piton hike & barely even broke a sweat! A jack of all trades, he's eager to share his passion for the island. Vera is a love & happily and graciously keeps the house in order during your stay so you don't have to. I'm pretty particular about other people doing my laundry, but she took scrupulous care of my clothes. She even had flowers on the bedspread upstairs upon our arrival - so romantic. Bertilla is a super sweet, talented cook & prepared some really great meals for us. She'll make you anything but I suggest you request some local dishes like christophene casserole, chicken curry, rice & beans, or pumpkin soup - all delish! She set a lovely table every night outside by the pool, specially folded napkins included. This crew left no detail unnoticed and their hard work revealed itself in my experience at the villa. They added elements of ease and welcoming grace to the trip which made the island as a whole even more special. I can't wait to go back to St. Lucia, and I'll definitely be staying at Brigand Hill."

Wonderful view. Unique setting high on the hills with view of the Pitons
"As advertised, the view of the Pitons and the ocean are wonderful. Sit and watch hummingbirds, grey tremblers, etc work the trees and flowers. At night, watch the sun set and the "glowing" click beetles come out. For first time visitors to St. Lucia, note that all walking involves some very steep roads/paths. Anse Chastanet is close by, but it is a hard walk; rent a car to get around and make trips to the waterfalls, town and other nearby attractions. Do not be put off by needing to use a vehicle; Anse Chastenet and Sugar Beach resorts provide on-site shuttles for their guests due to the steepness of the roads/paths.
La Bagatelle is a well-maintained villa. Kitchen is dated, but everything works. Beds are very comfortable. Pool is nice. Note: there is no air-conditioning. Not a problem for us, there are ceiling fans and trade winds. We are not accustomed to having a housekeeper on-site from 9 am till 3 pm. The housekeeper was not intrusive, but it made us feel awkward to be sitting around as someone did chores in the villa."
