  • Excellent location, spacious accommodations and a personal concierge!

"My husband and I stayed here for 6 nights. The villa is beautifully decorated and has everything a couple could need. Location is perfect too! A short walking distance from Rodney Bay with a few morning gems. The felly belly smoothie bar and both coffee shops are excellent. There are also a ton of restaurants and 3 grocery shops. Use trip advisor for restaurant selections. Stay in top 10. Spice of India was fantastic. Flavors in gros islet too! Beware: island time is a real thing. Average waiting time 30-45min for food. Sometimes 10-15 to get a drink. But just relax and enjoy the slow pace. As far as things to do, the bay gardens hotel has a shuttle which brings you to bay gardens resort. They have a beach, pool, bar, water sports, music and food options. Make sure to get towels at the hotel beforehand. They also have a concierge that can book day trips and tours. Book early. Reid, the owner was also GREAT. He arranged a private local chef to cook us a special 8 course dinner in the villa, a couples massage at a local spa, the local yoga center schedule and even a helicopter ride back to the airport. **If you can, arrange a helicopter ride to and from airport. Taxi ride is definitely scary and about 1.5-2 hours. I thought it would be nice to see the city and it was; however, there is one lane in and one out. The roads are excessivly curvy up and down the mountains and most everyone we spoke too had the same experience. Drivers are super friendly but the helicopter ride is 10 minutes and worth every penny!! $165per person US. Everyone speaks English and US currency is taken everywhere although it helps to convert to EC."

  • La Bagatella was our little piece of paradise !

"We were NOT disappointed with this lovely villa at all.... the pictures are accurate and the view is absolutely gorgeous! The villa is very clean , and well maintained. The open air living was a new experience for us ! The villa is spacious and comfortable for 2 couples, as we celebrating a special birthday with our friends! We didn't rent a car, but did refer to a local taxi fellow who drove us on occasion, and was very accommodating. We attempted to walk down the very steep rough road to Anse Chastanet beach ...... I like to walk, but this is not pleasurable at all..... the return walk up was even worse.... everyone refused to walk it again.... we did take a taxi there and back.... for a cost of $ 40 US. I would advise renting a car... if u are the type that needs to be on the go... as the road to villa is treacherous.... but after a few travels u get use to it. We weren't use to or were we comfortable with the concept of having a housekeeper wait on us.... we had a starter pack of groceries provided , and settled the bill on arrival..... we also stopped at grocery store near airport to purchase a few things.... we found meat to be difficult to find.... as we are not very adventurous fish eaters... so we arrived at villa.... hoping the housekeeper could help us purchase some fresh chicken, or steak for us.... however, that proved to be difficult also... and had to settle for what she could get... in all ,it was fine as we had dinner reservations elsewhere on the weekend.... suggest to others in the future, to be specific and direct with your menu choices, and let her do the shopping.... otherwise u will be be managing on your own. Soufriere is abit rough around the edges to venture into, for our liking. We toured the entire island and seen all the highlights by hired car tour... and also took a water taxi up the coast to Rodney bay, Castries, and Marigot bay. We also went to Sugar beach for the day.... was disappointed in most beaches, in how the resorts segregate small scuffy areas for visitors to sit at..... however we had very expensive drinks at sugar beach patio bar... and had a surprise visit of "Bono" and his family ,who arrive by yacht, and sat next to us on the patio ! So I guess those drinks were worth it ! Warning, at Anse Chastenat beach, the area they direct visitors to is sit at is dangerous due to boat traffic..... snorkelers were frequently in the way . Great experience , and had a lovely time !"

  • This is the real St Lucia

"This was our second time staying at the villa. Ken and Diane are truly amazing hosts with incredible knowledge of their surroundings. We visited the local market and fisheries and ate local food including some of the best fish I have ever tasted. A walk out the back of the property with Ken and Diane was one of the highlights, meeting local farmers and workers and sampling some fantastic fruits. The villa is a home from home, very comfortable and with the most fabulous view which you never tire of. I have no idea why anyone would want to book into a hotel when you can have such a great relaxing time at Ken and Diane's home. The kitesurfing is also great and there are a couple of good spots 10 to 15 mins away. Sandy beach is lovely, wild and quiet with a couple of good eateries right by the beach. Thank you for such a wonderful stay and for inspiring me to cook some different dishes!"

  • Date House stay - St. Lucia

"Our family of 6 adults and one 11-year-old stayed at Date House for a week over Thanksgiving. The location between Castries and Rodney Bay was convenient. The house is situated in a neighborhood just above the Calabash Cove resort. We paid for a transfer to and from the airport and are very glad we did. The house would have been difficult to find on our own as there are no street signs. But once we had driven on our own from the house, we didn't have any difficulties finding our way back, plus the owner provided a map with simple directions to the house and that was useful. Accommodations at the house were just fine for our family. The neighborhood is quiet and the views are amazing. The bedrooms all had air conditioning. The pool, house and surroundings were very clean. Anne Marie, the housekeeper, was delightful and stayed late to make sure we had a tour of the house. Because we arrived later in the day, we had requested groceries be purchased for the house and that was all taken care of, including a complimentary rum punch to welcome us. We did encounter one issue on the last night of our stay. The main electrical circuit breaker went out and we lost power. The response from the rental agency was not immediate, but we were able to get the power back on ourselves by unplugging things to reduce the electrical load. The owner and rental agency made arrangements for repairs the next day, so this should not be a problem for future renters. Having a rental car is definitely necessary if you are going to see the sights of the island or go to a beach (we recommend the beach at Pigeon Island). One caution is that the road to the property is not well kept, so plan accordingly. We rented a van, so that was appropriate. The villa rental agency representative was very accommodating in helping us book a catamaran cruise and a day of zip lining, and we were picked up at Calabash Cove by both companies. Overall the property is wonderful and we would recommend it."
