  • Once In a Lifetime Experience

"La Batterie Villa exceeded my expectations. It is hard to put my experience in words but if I had to chose one it would be - paradise. I was welcomed by Clavie at the airport. He is beyond friendly and takes care of you 100%. He drove me from the airport to the villa. I was then introduced to Marilyn, Stephanie and Terry. I went on a tour around the villa and was surprised with an amazing dinner - compliments of the owners. I had pumpkin soup with local vegetables and a fresh salad - could not have been better. I sat down for a second and looked out at the breathtaking view of the Carribean sea and the Pitons. This view has to be the best on the island. I can not stress this enough. Every day I would wake up - still in awe of this view. La Batterie is a treasure and enraptures all that is beautiful in this breathtaking country. Subsequent wonderful attributes of this villa include the salt water pool/lounge area and the surrounding lush gardens. The bougainvillea flowers were my favorite - they produce coral and fuscia flowers. There are also several other exotic flowers including helconia. The gardens are a joy and if you appreciate nature you will love La Batterie. In regards to the pool - WOW! First of all, the salt water is unique and does not damage the skin like chlorine. The color of the pool is also beautiful. It is blue and catches the sun in all of the right ways. I spent a lot of the duration of my trip reading poolside with a nice refreshing glass of local grapefruit juice. Lastly, each bedroom in this villa holds a certain charm. I stayed in the piton suite and let me tell you - the view was out of this world. I would open my doors each morning greeted by the beauty of this island. Did I mention there are fresh flowers placed throughout the house upon arrival? It is hard to put my feelings/thoughts in words but I truly enjoyed my time at La Batterie. Saint Lucia is a one-of-a-kind island and staying at La Batterie made it unforgettable. I can only hope I will be fortunate enough to stay at this villa once again."

  • Tropical Paradise

"I have deliberately waited for over four months before writing this review. I wanted it to be objective. I was afraid if I did this too soon after the trip, my words would be influenced by emotions that may not have reflected the true experience at Tamarind House. Nothing has changed in regard to my thoughts. This was the most wonderful place I have ever had the pleasure to experience. Nancy's concierge, Shermika, met us at the airport and accompanied us to the house. It is a rather treacherous (but thankfully short) drive from Soufriere to Tamarind House. The moment you get out of the car, you are greeted with a fabulous view of the Caribbean Sea. And it only gets better. The home is nestled on a hillside, completely secluded from neighbor’s eyes. The staff, Cheryl, Ann and Paul, take care of every need. The most difficult thing I had to do all week was decide what meals to have prepared for us. Spectacular is not superlative enough to describe this property. I felt like we were truly in paradise. The layout of the home is designed to give ultimate views while affording privacy. The foliage was tropical, lush and exquisitely beautiful. We had the house and the cottage to ourselves (our son and his girlfriend joined us) and spent seven glorious days just relaxing, swimming, playing tennis, playing word games and board games, watching cruise ships and hummingbirds, reading, napping, laughing, crying, teasing, eating, drinking, watching falling stars at night (the sky is amazing - the stars look close enough to touch). We were able to let go of the fear and stress we had been struggling with for the last five months and just enjoy each others company. The pictures on the website cannot convey the heart and soul of this house. All of our meals were on the covered deck looking out over the Caribbean Sea, acres of lush foliage, and a magnificent view of the Pitons. The sunrise peeking over the hilltops, morning rain showers, rainbows, hummingbirds, geckos – all of this and seeing it as we enjoyed a lavish breakfast with French pressed coffee, pancakes, eggs, bacon, fresh fruit and bread. The winds gently stirring the plants, night sounds from the jungle-like surroundings, birds calling to one another, sporadic rain showers with stunning rainbows, and luscious fragrances from the foliage. If you want a place that can truly heal your soul while filling your mind with spectacular images that will last a lifetime, this is it."

  • A Real Gem

"Amazing dramatic views, lush beautiful gardens, comfortable bed and hot shower, delicious home cooked local cuisine by Magdalene, total privacy, delightful daytime entertainment by all varieties of birds and nighttime star gazing with background music provided by frogs. This is a nature lover's paradise. The owner, Henrietta, was easy to talk to and very accommodating. We found this to be an excellent location to explore the entire country, but were especially enamored with the nearby town of Soufriere. Absolutely loved the property and St. Lucia!"

  • Superlative View of the Caribbean and Pitons

"First visit to St. Lucia and La Bagatelle filled the bill! Situated about 450 feet above the water and with an unsurpassed view of the Pitons, the house is accurately depicted here and is an upside down house with open air living area above and bedrooms below. Spent many hours watching the rainbows, passing cruise ships, fishermen, yachts and hummingbirds feeding on bouganvilli a. Less than a mile to Anse Chastanet where one can swim, sunbathe, dine, dive, and snorkel. Suggest renting a car at the airport, ours was from Cool Breeze. Much to explore on St. Lucia; we especially enjoyed Diamond Falls with its botanical gardens. Staff very nice and owner who lives nearby checked with us to ensure no concerns. House beautifully furnished with original local furniture and paintings. Lovely pool with plenty of places where one could read or doze. Almost no bugs at this time. Generally quiet."
