  • Unique and wonderful

"A certain adventuresome traveler will love this place. The view is fantastic. Wonderful. Great. The location is very rural, up the side of a small mountain, almost inaccessible, down a severely pot-holed road, and quite a far distance from the beach. Having said that, this place is great. It did take some getting used to that one entire side of the house is open to the elements--bats, lizards, and bugs come and go. (Bugs were not bad, though.) Mary and Pius, the caretaker and driver, were great. They know everyone in the area and they are your single greatest assurance that no one will mess with your stuff while you are away. Yes, I was a bit leery of leaving expensive electronics out on the counter with realistically no way to lock them away, but we had no problems. In this rural part of the island, you will see lots of birds. Roosters in the area will announce themselves early in the morning. Dogs will bark. If, in other words, you tend to like resorts, maybe this is not for you. On the other hand, if you like to submerge yourself in the local culture and slow down the pace of your life, this is for you. The actual house was very well maintained, and Mary kept everything spic and span. Pius was always available to drive us, which, given the condition of roads on the island, I strongly recommend."

  • Spectacular Le Gallerie! Suzanne H.

"We just had my daughter’s & now son-in-law’s wedding at ‘Le Gallerie’ in the little colorful town of Soufriere, St. Lucia. Le Gallerie was SPECTACULAR! The minute we walked in the door, we couldn’t believe our eyes! The view with the magnificent Pitons and an amazing view of the crystal cyan Caribbean was stunning! Here you are a part of nature in the truest sense. You are in a grand home, with its marble tiles and dark hard wood floors, and all the comforts of home, but right there kissing close is lush greenery, colorful bougainvillea blooming everywhere, sweet breezes in the open air, and the sweet sounds of tropical birds singing. We loved Josephine, who took care of tidying up our bedrooms each day. Cookie and Shermaine made delicious dinners and breakfasts for us each day. Cerial made a cross for my daughter’s wedding out of wood and greenery which was such a meaningful gift. Ticky was there each morning early to have the infinity pool just right and to water all the gorgeous flowers and plants!. Albert, grilled steaks for us one night and taught us how to play a new fun card game. He was one fun guy to have around! We cannot thank you enough Bar & Ben for working with us to have this most splendid wedding in your 30’ x 60’ grand room looking out to the Pitons. What a fantastic backdrop for our wedding ceremony! Your ‘Le Gallerie’ home was the perfect place to have our two families stay for this special wedding week in February 2015. We left feeling like one big family and your place, the staff, the view, the comfortable beds, the wonderful bathrooms, and the spacious great/living rooms all together made for a memory we will never forget! Thank YOU!"

  • Amazing Stay, Much more than expected, Highly recommend.

"We just came back from a week at Tamarind House and can confirm that all that has been said about the place is absolutely true. The house itself is truly unique, lots of wide open spaces and amazing architecture. Built not so long ago, it has a unique old Caribbean feel to it. Large airy rooms make you feel like you are part of the incredible scenery outside. With views overlooking beautiful flowers and trees, the Pitons, the sea, a gorgeous sunset, sitting on the deck at anytime is like watching a giant IMAX nature movie. We particularly enjoyed the pool early in the AM, and at dusk when the light was spectacular. Playing tennis in front of the Pitons is also a special experience. Everything was as advertised, Easy to find and well organized. Shermika the house manager was most helpful. Ann and Cheryl the housekeepers were amazing cooks and took all the stress off any food shopping and cooking. Let them cook away, they know what they're doing. Great beach 5min drive at Anse Chastenet, We used 'Feel Good" Water Taxi, Daniel Abraham (# at the house) will take you to fantastic snorkeling sites at reasonable rates. Also ate at Boucan Chocolate Restaurant and Orlandos in Soufriere, very good, Note, road to house is intimidating at first but you get used to it pretty quickly. Car handy but not really needed. Enjoy Tamarind House."

  • Amazing View

"My husband and I stay at Hermitage Cottage for a week at the start of February. Having never booked a VRBO, initially I was a little apprehensive but after speaking directly with the owners, and receiving their prompt helpful emails that didn't last long. We rented a car and drove from the airport. The directions we got were clear and we arrived with no problems. The car the owners recommended for us was perfect for us. The main highway is fine to drive, the side roads not so much, but we just took our time and had no problems. The cottage itself was perfect for us, secluded, comfortable and I can't even begin to describe the beautiful views. The pictures do not do it justice. The property is gorgeous and the cottage itself is well kept and had everything we needed. My husband loved the BBQ and the kitchen is well equipped with anything else you may need. Magdalene, the housekeeper, was a lovely woman who is very helpful with anything you may need or helpful advice. We took the recommendations we read about and had her cook for us one night, and the meal was fabulous. Ferrad kept the pool well maintained and was very discreet when we came down to go for a swim. He spend most of the day in the pool house, but that never bothered us at all, we enjoyed talking to him. We really enjoyed the helpful guest book the owners left, as well as the book they left with everything we needed to know. We got many of our ideas for outings from others peoples experiences. My only advice would be to bring ear plugs to sleep at night if you are a light sleeper, after the sun goes down the insects are very loud! I would recommend this place to anyone, we feel very lucky that we found it. Thank you very much Henriette and Ian for opening your home to us."
