"Dear Owen, We had the most incredible week at your villa residence in St. Lucia. I am sure you receive note after note from guests raving about your property, so forgive me if you find this redundant The staff is top notch. top. notch. They are all so wonderfully warm and welcoming each day. Very patient and very accommodating. Marilyn did a wonderful job preparing 3 meals a day for our whole group. James was always punctual and quite a character. Our children were all so well received by everyone on the property. It is clear that St. Lucians love and respect children, which I hugely admire. Not all people are so welcoming of them... Caille Blanc Villa is simply stunning, as I wrote you briefly when we arrived. We never got bored of the view, everything was so clean and comfortable. It's not often that you find a home that is available for rent with such nice amenities...truly a special place. I'm not sure that I can pick a favorite villa, for they each are so unique and special in their own way. The showers in the sunset and bouganvilla were awesome. The views from the sitting areas in the pool and grotto suites were incredible. This is merely scratching the surface, but I hardly need to tell you how awesome every aspect or your home is. All I wish to convey is how impressed we all were with your property. The Catamaran was a highlight. Lovely half day. we frequented the beach at Anse Chastenet and went to sugar beach one day, which was a lot of fun, and then took a boat taxi back to town where we met James for the short trip up the mountain back to the house. You were absolutely right to suggest we not rent a car. Driving there is nuts, especially in the town! I believe I successfully settled up with Febe all outstanding balances, and took good care of the staff. Please let me know if there is anything that I missed. Thank you again for your guidance in preparation for the trip. I would love to say we will be back, but I'm not one to make empty promises. What i can promise is that if we come back to St. Lucia for a holiday, I will be calling you first! And certainly I will recommend your property to anyone that is looking to have their minds blown with a Caribbean getaway! Very Sincerely, Jeff"Guest: jeffrey w. "My Girlfriend and I stayed in the cottage for a week in November and had a fantastic time! The cottage resides in a very interesting geological location (collapsed volcano crater) hence, the pitons, amazing topography and views. Don't worry, the volcano has been dormant for some 40,000 years. The cottage is at a high elevation from the sea, and is on the edge of a small interior rainforest (bug spray is good). We spent a couple days just hanging around the cottage, catching some sun, relaxing and found that it had everything we needed. The remaining days were spent enjoying the many activities and sites (waterfalls, mud baths, views, beaches, snorkeling, zipline, hiking, water taxi's, markets). The location of the cottage is within close proximity to all these things. If you enjoy being independent, and having privacy away from other tourists, this spot is for you, it was perfect for us. I would recommend this location to others, but I can't say it's for everyone. There is a maid (Magdelane) and a gardener (Ferrard) who are present, however, on the first day we met the maid and she asked us what we would like in terms of service. We told her that we were fairly independent people and she should come by every other day just to do the basics... On the first day she came into town with us, showed us around Soufriere and where the grocery store, butcher, bakery and bank were. Looking at some of the other reviews I think she will do more for you if that's what you want. We hardly ever saw Ferrard... From our understanding, he does maintain this property and has a garden down the road, and maintains the roadway leading up to the cottage, he left us fresh bread one day. We thought he was pleasant. In hindsight, I would have asked more questions about the maid before heading out to the property to clarify her role upfront, but we got exactly what we wanted, so it didn't matter. I found the island to be safe and the people warm and friendly. St.Lucia has many exciting things to do as well as having the chill factor (island time). We loved it here on the island, and staying at the cottage offered a unique and special experience that not many other travellers get to have when travelling to St. Lucia.. We loved it here and would go back again. Thanks for letting us use the cottage for the week. It was better then we expected!"Guest: Mark T. "We stayed at the hotel in March. It was a beautiful hotel with a great pool and nice setting on the bay. The hotel was undergoing renovations and I would love to come back when they are done because I'm sure it will be beautiful. We will be back!"Guest: Rob H. "Our family of 6 adults and one 11-year-old stayed at Date House for a week over Thanksgiving. The location between Castries and Rodney Bay was convenient. The house is situated in a neighborhood just above the Calabash Cove resort. We paid for a transfer to and from the airport and are very glad we did. The house would have been difficult to find on our own as there are no street signs. But once we had driven on our own from the house, we didn't have any difficulties finding our way back, plus the owner provided a map with simple directions to the house and that was useful. Accommodations at the house were just fine for our family. The neighborhood is quiet and the views are amazing. The bedrooms all had air conditioning. The pool, house and surroundings were very clean. Anne Marie, the housekeeper, was delightful and stayed late to make sure we had a tour of the house. Because we arrived later in the day, we had requested groceries be purchased for the house and that was all taken care of, including a complimentary rum punch to welcome us. We did encounter one issue on the last night of our stay. The main electrical circuit breaker went out and we lost power. The response from the rental agency was not immediate, but we were able to get the power back on ourselves by unplugging things to reduce the electrical load. The owner and rental agency made arrangements for repairs the next day, so this should not be a problem for future renters. Having a rental car is definitely necessary if you are going to see the sights of the island or go to a beach (we recommend the beach at Pigeon Island). One caution is that the road to the property is not well kept, so plan accordingly. We rented a van, so that was appropriate. The villa rental agency representative was very accommodating in helping us book a catamaran cruise and a day of zip lining, and we were picked up at Calabash Cove by both companies. Overall the property is wonderful and we would recommend it."Guest: Lori Date of Stay: November 2014 Review Submitted: December 3, 2014View listing
