  • Tropical Paradise

"I have deliberately waited for over four months before writing this review. I wanted it to be objective. I was afraid if I did this too soon after the trip, my words would be influenced by emotions that may not have reflected the true experience at Tamarind House. Nothing has changed in regard to my thoughts. This was the most wonderful place I have ever had the pleasure to experience. Nancy's concierge, Shermika, met us at the airport and accompanied us to the house. It is a rather treacherous (but thankfully short) drive from Soufriere to Tamarind House. The moment you get out of the car, you are greeted with a fabulous view of the Caribbean Sea. And it only gets better. The home is nestled on a hillside, completely secluded from neighbor’s eyes. The staff, Cheryl, Ann and Paul, take care of every need. The most difficult thing I had to do all week was decide what meals to have prepared for us. Spectacular is not superlative enough to describe this property. I felt like we were truly in paradise. The layout of the home is designed to give ultimate views while affording privacy. The foliage was tropical, lush and exquisitely beautiful. We had the house and the cottage to ourselves (our son and his girlfriend joined us) and spent seven glorious days just relaxing, swimming, playing tennis, playing word games and board games, watching cruise ships and hummingbirds, reading, napping, laughing, crying, teasing, eating, drinking, watching falling stars at night (the sky is amazing - the stars look close enough to touch). We were able to let go of the fear and stress we had been struggling with for the last five months and just enjoy each others company. The pictures on the website cannot convey the heart and soul of this house. All of our meals were on the covered deck looking out over the Caribbean Sea, acres of lush foliage, and a magnificent view of the Pitons. The sunrise peeking over the hilltops, morning rain showers, rainbows, hummingbirds, geckos – all of this and seeing it as we enjoyed a lavish breakfast with French pressed coffee, pancakes, eggs, bacon, fresh fruit and bread. The winds gently stirring the plants, night sounds from the jungle-like surroundings, birds calling to one another, sporadic rain showers with stunning rainbows, and luscious fragrances from the foliage. If you want a place that can truly heal your soul while filling your mind with spectacular images that will last a lifetime, this is it."

  • Amazing location

"Our two families (4 adults 4 children) had the best holiday ever at Villa Mandoo. It was going to be a special trip because our husbands were crossing the Atlantic to Rodney Bay from Gran Canaria in the ARC 2014 sailing rally, but it turned out to be the so much more; a holiday of a lifetime that we will all remember forever! We spent 3 weeks over christmas and new year at the villa; enjoying big family meals on the covered terrace with beautiful views of the sea on both sides, a constant cooling breeze, lovely big garden with fruit trees, the long pool which the children (ages 10-16) and adults alike were constantly in, the snorkelling at the bottom of the garden was fab; I saw Lion fish, Puffer fish, octopus, lobster and many other beautiful tropical fish. We couldn't believe at luck at finding such a fantastic place. Our friend's boat was able to anchor in Cuti cove as well, so we all swam out to it to many times, and were able to watch the local fishermen do their thing. It's very private apart from the odd visiting boat from windjammer to go snorkelling. We all loved just hanging out at the villa playing games, eating, swimming in the pool and the sea, watching the sunsets. The outside showers were great, especially at sunset. All bedrooms have their own bathroom and the beds are very comfy and big too, and the wi-fi was handy for the teenagers! Marie Ann and Anthony were helpful and it was great to have someone to do some chores. On christmas day about 20 of us had a BBQ lunch on the terrace, so you can see it is a great place for entertaining; spacious with enough tables, chairs for everyone! On New Years Eve we were able to see the fireworks from the Windjammer resort as well as the ones in Rodney Bay. All in all it really felt like Paradise at Villa Mandoo! Thanks to the first Mr Morgan for building a great house in such a fantastic location on the lush island of St Lucia."

  • St. Lucia DateHouse Villa

"We had never been to St. Lucia before and we needed a minimum of 2 bedrooms ( 4 people) and a full kitchen for our 1 week stay. We found this rental villa on line and, the pictures were very enticing... and, after talking with the owner, Robert, who was very detailed about location, transportaion, restaurants, nearby beaches etc we decided to book the villa. Once we arrived in St. Lucia on saturday afternoon and had a Taxi bring us from the airport to the villa (approximately 1.25 hour drive) we arrived at this place set on a hill above the carribean sea with spectacular views. The on-line pictures actually do not do justice to this home away from home. The views in every direction are amazing. The housekeeper "Ann Marie" had dinner waiting for us when we arrived (at our request because we were arriving late) and she stayed and showed us around. We could not belive how nice the facility was. Very spacious for 4 or more people (4 bedrooms available) and the pool is where we spent most of our time when we were there. We did rent a car and take some tours of the area (left side driving for those coming from the US). We spent 4 out of the 7 days right at the Villa, using the pool and watching sunsets from both the pool area and the Master Bedroom balcony. Total relaxation!! We also walked to the Calabash cove resort to use the beach facilities and we also went to breakfast and dinner one night. less than 10 minute walk... Ann Marie keeps the place immaculate and you have the flexability to have her there as little or as much as you want during the day. We chose to have her there only 2 out of the 7 days. She was very interesting to talk to since she knows the ins and outs of the area. The villa is very safe (has a security system and a front gate so no one bothers you) and we will difintely go back. It certainly beats the resorts and dealing with many other guests competing for chaises, pool space etc.-- this is a very private place."

  • Paradise

"We, two couples in our forties, escaped from the last kicks of winter in Switzerland to this paradise where you can stay all the time in shorts and t-shirt. In the process of booking the two last weeks of March 2015 it was great how fast the owner, John, responded to my mails. He was also very helpful and gave very good advices. His on-island-agent Ena was also very helpful and gave great advices for sailing, horseback riding and a hike up the gros piton. The house is located in a beautiful, remote area. It is at the end of a dead end street and pretty quiet. You hear the noises of the birds, frogs and insects more than anything else. :-) Nevertheless in 10-15 minutes you can be -by rented car or taxi- in Rodney Bay or Castries with all its restaurants and supermarkets. The size of the house felt just right for the 4 of us. It was neither too big, nor too small. Having the wonderful pool to ourselves was better than we expected. Many times a day we would go for a short swim to cool off a bit and refresh. We ended up going less to beaches and staying more around the wonderful house. Reading, sleeping...just relaxing. The view of the ocean from the house and especially from the infinity edge pool is breathtaking. Sipping on a cool Piton or Heineken in the pool while the sun is melting into the ocean is something I can highly recommend. ;-) Even from the bathroom of the master bedroom you can see the ocean. The whole stay even exceeded our already high expectations. Everything was as described. I can highly recommend booking a stay at this wonderful house in paradise."
