  • Awesome getaway

"We rented this house for a week and had a fantastic time. We were celebrating a special birthday for my wife and planned a surprise getaway with our three adult kids (and grandchild). Fortunately for us, the houses on either side of us were empty for the week so we had 3 miles of white sandy beach to ourselves. Walks in the morning with our coffee looking to see what washed up on the beach, snorkeling around the reef or casting a fishing rod during the day and just relaxing by the pool in the evening provided the perfect setting. Spectacular sun rises and sunsets along with star gazing later in the evening were reasons to jump up in the morning and stay up most of the night. We had a chance to stop at a couple of the local restaurants and the food was surprisingly good. Calling ahead was given new meaning when we found out that you actually had to call the restaurants by noon and order your meal then. It was well worth it, the food was great. We even had a night of pizza where one of the locals "went off" menu and made about 8 pizzas for us. The majority of us never left the property. When we did, we either left for dining out a couple nights or replenishing the spirit waters that seemed to flow amply throughout the day. Grocery stores were nearby and we became a bit of a spectacle when we left with 3 shopping carts full of food the first day. The only issue for the week was the "no - see 'ims" which Kevin and Holton warned us about. They are these little tiny fleas (thus the name) and the pack a pretty good bite - somewhat like a mosquito bite. We were all fine until around Wednesday evening when they came out. We found the best remedy was to drink more alcohol... As some of the other reviews mentioned, if you are looking for tranquility and privacy, this is the place."

  • Location, Location, Location

"Although not a granite countertop, new appliances, high-end finishes type of interior. . .The Whitby White House is very comfortable and is clearly in an ideal location with the beautiful aqua water and white sand right there in your "front yard." Overall, it was a wonderful place to stay, and from that perfect home base, we were able to enjoy all the adventures we had planned plus many others. A short list of highlights would need to include: --Fabulous dining and hospitality from the very talented, kind, and hard-working Karen at The Silver Palm (Homemade ice cream from Silver Palm Bistro was terrific too!) --Many wonderful walks on the beach in both directions with lots of beach combing and beautiful shells --Fun at the Barracuda Beach Bar including a nice drink from a coconut --Driving easily on the left with the wheel on the right in our clean, reliable rental car from Al's Car Rental --Hiking on trails such as that which leads down Pumpkin Bluff to the beach or our trek on Crossing Point Trail on Middle Caicos including a few secluded beaches --Hanging out and watching the surf on the stunning beach at Mudjin Harbor on Middle Caicos --Really wonderful day of fishing, snorkeling, and "shooting" lobster with Dedrick (Capt. Big D) and enjoying many fine meals as a result --Visiting (more than once) Howard at our ideal island bar, the Last Chance Bar & Grill, to devour delicious conch and lobster and enjoy perfect rum punch and an unbelievably beautiful view from a new deck --A nice breakfast and chat at Miss B's, where we will go to the fish fry next time --Snorkeling at Three Mary Cays (with the scenery actually more impressive than the snorkel that day) --A delicious snapper lunch at Daniel's Cafe -- where hospitality from father and son was both fun and very welcoming to all --And finally, just hanging out at The Whitby White House to experience sunny beach days and peaceful starlit nights Of course, that's only the "short list." Also a special "thank you" to Mac for his kind hospitality and reliability. Although, we only needed him for rides to and from the ferry, we knew he was always available to help us if we called."

  • N Caicos, I want to go back tomorrow

"It was truly a wonderful time that Mike and I had at the Hollywood Beach Suites. The friendly people of locals and part timers, we all made us feel welcome. The long walks on the beach was energizing, and the warm sun, rain and gentle tradewinds, was a complete package. We were truly taken care of, with the property and from Alveda. We shall always remember this place, and to return again."

  • Perfect home away from home!

"We recently spent 8 nights at the beautiful Emerald Estates rental home on North Caicos. We had a wonderful time on the island staying at this property. Alpheus Gardner was a fantastic host and we highly recommend staying at this property. We have stayed in rental homes all over the Caribbean and many times on North Caicos and this was one of the best! Alpheus welcomed us upon our arrival on the island meeting us at the ferry and spent lots of time getting us situated at the house. The house was absolutely spotless when we arrived (which is very important to us as we most often find rentals not as clean as they should be). Alpheus checked in with us every few days to make sure we had everything we need and was very conscientious about making sure our stay was comfortable. The house is an enormous and beautifully furniture home with all of the amenities you could imagine. The kitchen is fully equipped and served all our needs to make delicious meals (most rentals skimp on the kitchen but this was the best we have ever rented!) There are granite countertops and a dishwasher, which saved tons of time on cleanup of meals. There was four of us staying at the house and we all were beyond pleased with our stay. The master bedroom is huge and looks out onto the water so you can lie in bed and see the blue landscape. The other two bedrooms have wonderful views of the water as well although the windows are a little higher so you don’t see the view from the bed. The house comes with Wi-Fi, a cell phone and several TVs with cable. We are big critics of rental homes and honestly we could not think of anything that was lacking at Emerald Estates. Even the location was great – we have stayed on Whitby beach several times and although the beach is great for walking, the location of this home gave us great access to Bottle creek where we paddle boarded and kayaked. It also is on a windy point and provided lots of wind, which is key to avoiding sand flea bites (and let me tell you we have had hundreds on each of us by staying on Whitby beach). So if you are thinking of renting from Alpheus Gardner, go for it – you won’t be disappointed – it was truly a home away from home and was well worth the cost. We are always a little worried about paying for a rental up front but it worked out great and Alpheus and his property were all that they promised. Alpheus has thought of all the details in his rental home and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Emerald Estates!"
