"This is a lovely condo located in Ocean Club (East) that has all we needed for a relaxing 7 night stay. We arrived early so Bob and Cathy allowed us to place our baggage in the condo while it was being cleaned after previous renters had just departed. The unit was bright and kept nicely. It had all the essentials needed to have a casual breakfast or lunch. This was a great help as restaurant dining can become quite expensive on the island. We were able to jump on the Ocean Club shuttle that dropped us off near the center where we shopped at the Salt Mills complex. This saved us taxi fares and was very convenient. The Ocean Club facilities have nice oceanside dining (grouper!) at reasonable prices. The experience of Carribean breezes, crashing waves and candlelit tables was incredible. Coco Bistro proved to be a beautiful dining experience among the palms. For fun, we rented a scooter to buzz around the island. Bob and Cathy gave us some great times to enhance our first experience vacationing at Turks and Caicos. The prepaid cell phone was a nice convenience. I would recommend this condo to others who want all the amenities that a fine resort can offer yet at a reasonable rate. We look forward to returning to paradise!"Guest: Anonymous Date of Stay: March 2014 Review Submitted: April 5, 2014View listing
"This was our first VRBO rental experience, and our first visit to TC. It was one of the most relaxing and homey vacations we have experienced in our travels. Waking up to that view and the breeze every morning was fabulous. The condo was spotless, which was very important to us, and our hosts have thought of everything to make their guests feel at home. We can't stop talking about our trip and how much we loved T&C. We were steps from the beach and the pool, and we swam and walked the beach every day. Bring lots of money! Everything costs a little more than we expected. The best thing we did during our week stay was the 1/2 day boat cruise with Island Vibe. It was worth every penny! The casino is very small and bare bones; however, my husband won almost $300, and we were only there about 40 minutes. The Thursday night fish fry party at a neighboring resort was excellent. Great food, live music, everyone dancing. We opted to use the taxi service vs. renting a car, and it worked out fine. We only needed a taxi for the grocery store, some shopping, and to/from the airport. There were plenty of restaurant options within walking distance, and we were picked up at the beach for the boat excursion. Yes, there is an abandoned hotel next door that is scheduled to come down. On the bright side, it allowed a level of privacy that would not have been possible otherwise. We can't wait for our return visit. "We really had a great time at the Blue Villa. The beach is a short walk down the path at the end of Donkey Lane, takes 2 - 3 minutes. The pool was wonderful and a great place to hang out. The IGA grocery store is within walking distance, but if you do get a car, it is less than a 5 minute drive away. Prices are more than they are at home, but not too terribly bad. The villa is nicely furnished and comfortable. We used the grill just about every night. Louise was great to work with, she always responded to any request we had during the rental process. After we got there we could not find the gas cylinder for the grill. We emailed Louise and she got right back to us with the information on how to access it. We did some snorkeling on Smith's Reef (there is a part of the reef that is located right near to where the path comes out onto the beach). If you want to find some nice shells, take a trip up to the Leeward side of the island and go to Emerald Point, a really beautiful spot. We found quite a few shells up there. We really enjoyed our stay and Louise was a pleasure to work with."Guest: mike Date of Stay: May 2014 Review Submitted: May 21, 2014View listing
"We stayed for a week at this house in Long Bay on our first trip to the Turks. The house was spotless and beautiful, with all the amenities we would need. There was suggestions of places to go and eat in an organized notebook that welcomed us. The house is private, has a pool and also has ocean views which makes this place perfect for families. The house is also minutes away from beautiful beaches and restaurants so we could explore all that Turks has to offer. This was our best vacation ever! I cannot wait to go again!"Guest: HP Date of Stay: May 2014 Review Submitted: November 19, 2014View listing
Providenciales Travel Tips
Providenciales Vacation Rentals on 38 Square Miles of Bliss
Getting to Providenciales vacation rentals could not be easier. The island is home to the region’s only international airport. While it is the major resort area of the Turks and Caicos Islands, it is just 38 square miles. But those 38 square miles are a vacation paradise! Once you arrive for your Providenciales travel, venture to between the islands to discover each island’s unique characteristics. With a base in Providenciales, there are plenty of opportunities to take day trips out to explore the rest of this stunningly beautiful and tranquil area. It is close in distance to many major U.S. destinations, making it an ideal vacation for Americans. Temperatures here are constant throughout the year with averages between the 70s and 80s Fahrenheit, with little humidity and rain. Although the islands are British territory, the currency is the U.S. dollar.
As recently as the 1960s, there were no cars on the islands. Now, visitors can hire a 4x4 Jeep to make exploring all those out-of-the-way places easy. Another great option is to use the Gecko Shuttle, operating from Grace Bay. Be sure to buy your token before you board.
Stay at Providenciales Villas on the Beaches and Discover Paradise
Provo, as it is called locally, is the most developed of the islands, with resorts, golf courses and casinos. When asked, many visitors say they come for the pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters. The beaches are beautiful but there is much more to Provo that that! Such as the unique Caicos Banks, an undersea pillar that comes from the depths of the ocean to within 30 to 50 feet of the surface. This bank provides safe inshore waters, just perfect for snorkeling, swimming and boating. Outside of the bank is a treacherous reef notorious for wrecking ships which makes for great diving and deep sea fishing.
There are a few tips to be aware of when hitting the beaches here. All the beaches are free and public, including those by hotels and private homes. Most of the coastline is part of the national park, and fishing is not allowed from the beach. There are a huge variety of watersports for visitors, including jet skiing, jet boating, skiff boating, kayaking, glass-bottom boat trips, parasailing, banana boats, semi-submarine trips, kiteboarding, and windsurfing. If you're ready to try something more than snorkeling but not quite ready to try diving, try snuba!
Meet the World’s Only Performing Conch!
For the days when the beach doesn’t beckon, there are golf and miniature golf, horseback riding, tennis, bicycling, jogging and soccer; you can also wander the miles of beach searching for shells and driftwood. Beach-combing can be one of the most delightful ways to spend a leisurely morning at Northwest Point. Here, the pounding surf brings new treasures with every wave. Then, of course, there are a variety of sights and attractions scattered around Provo. Try a visit to the Cheshire Hall Plantation Ruins, explore the spectacular caves and rock carvings at Sapodilla Hill and West Harbor Bluff, and sample the local beer with a visit to Turks Head Microbrewery and the world’s only conch farm at Caicos Conch Farm. Make sure to see the live show featuring some trained conchs!
