"We really had a great time at the Blue Villa. The beach is a short walk down the path at the end of Donkey Lane, takes 2 - 3 minutes. The pool was wonderful and a great place to hang out. The IGA grocery store is within walking distance, but if you do get a car, it is less than a 5 minute drive away. Prices are more than they are at home, but not too terribly bad. The villa is nicely furnished and comfortable. We used the grill just about every night. Louise was great to work with, she always responded to any request we had during the rental process. After we got there we could not find the gas cylinder for the grill. We emailed Louise and she got right back to us with the information on how to access it. We did some snorkeling on Smith's Reef (there is a part of the reef that is located right near to where the path comes out onto the beach). If you want to find some nice shells, take a trip up to the Leeward side of the island and go to Emerald Point, a really beautiful spot. We found quite a few shells up there. We really enjoyed our stay and Louise was a pleasure to work with."Guest: mike Date of Stay: May 2014 Review Submitted: May 21, 2014View listing
"Pelican Vista was the perfect home away from home for our family of nine to enjoy the beautiful island of Turks and Caicos. The outdoor living space was decadent - gorgeous large pool with a massive swim-up Tiki bar including modern grill and outdoor mini fridge for convenience. The place is wired smartly - you can hear music from any room in the house, each room with it's own controls, including outside by the bar. The views of the turqouise waters from the upper and top deck were stunning. The top deck was great for star-gazing as well. Each of the 4 bedrooms was its own large master suite, meaning no rocks, paper, scissors over who gets the largest room. It was a relatively short walk to the pristine white sand beach, and once you get to the beach, you have two directions to choose from on where to stake your spot. We can't thank Basia enough for taking great care of us and making good on her promise of an incredible Villa and vacation. She was easy and fun to work with, and truly knows how to run a tight ship. Pelican Vista truly is paradise, and a place that will have you daydreaming for weeks after you leave."Guest: A. Hon Date of Stay: March 2014 Review Submitted: March 25, 2014View listing
Providenciales Travel Tips
Providenciales Vacation Rentals on 38 Square Miles of Bliss
Getting to Providenciales vacation rentals could not be easier. The island is home to the region’s only international airport. While it is the major resort area of the Turks and Caicos Islands, it is just 38 square miles. But those 38 square miles are a vacation paradise! Once you arrive for your Providenciales travel, venture to between the islands to discover each island’s unique characteristics. With a base in Providenciales, there are plenty of opportunities to take day trips out to explore the rest of this stunningly beautiful and tranquil area. It is close in distance to many major U.S. destinations, making it an ideal vacation for Americans. Temperatures here are constant throughout the year with averages between the 70s and 80s Fahrenheit, with little humidity and rain. Although the islands are British territory, the currency is the U.S. dollar.
As recently as the 1960s, there were no cars on the islands. Now, visitors can hire a 4x4 Jeep to make exploring all those out-of-the-way places easy. Another great option is to use the Gecko Shuttle, operating from Grace Bay. Be sure to buy your token before you board.
Stay at Providenciales Villas on the Beaches and Discover Paradise
Provo, as it is called locally, is the most developed of the islands, with resorts, golf courses and casinos. When asked, many visitors say they come for the pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters. The beaches are beautiful but there is much more to Provo that that! Such as the unique Caicos Banks, an undersea pillar that comes from the depths of the ocean to within 30 to 50 feet of the surface. This bank provides safe inshore waters, just perfect for snorkeling, swimming and boating. Outside of the bank is a treacherous reef notorious for wrecking ships which makes for great diving and deep sea fishing.
There are a few tips to be aware of when hitting the beaches here. All the beaches are free and public, including those by hotels and private homes. Most of the coastline is part of the national park, and fishing is not allowed from the beach. There are a huge variety of watersports for visitors, including jet skiing, jet boating, skiff boating, kayaking, glass-bottom boat trips, parasailing, banana boats, semi-submarine trips, kiteboarding, and windsurfing. If you're ready to try something more than snorkeling but not quite ready to try diving, try snuba!
Meet the World’s Only Performing Conch!
For the days when the beach doesn’t beckon, there are golf and miniature golf, horseback riding, tennis, bicycling, jogging and soccer; you can also wander the miles of beach searching for shells and driftwood. Beach-combing can be one of the most delightful ways to spend a leisurely morning at Northwest Point. Here, the pounding surf brings new treasures with every wave. Then, of course, there are a variety of sights and attractions scattered around Provo. Try a visit to the Cheshire Hall Plantation Ruins, explore the spectacular caves and rock carvings at Sapodilla Hill and West Harbor Bluff, and sample the local beer with a visit to Turks Head Microbrewery and the world’s only conch farm at Caicos Conch Farm. Make sure to see the live show featuring some trained conchs!
