"Just returning from Villa de Ligera (Feb 08-15,2014). Our unanimous rating is that of Excellence. The process started 6 months prior to the actual trip with emails back and forth to Peter, the property manager. Peter answered all of our questions promptly, offered suggestions and referrals and always replied to my emails. The rental contract furnished by Sea Feathers was easy and straightforward with all costs explained. The week prior to our arrival Peter confirmed our flights, which were originating from 3 different US cities and upon arrival at the Provo airport, Peter was waiting outside Customs with a sign welcoming our party. Peter also assisted us with the rental vehicle company, Grace Bay Rentals, whom I highly recommend. Peter then led our band of vacationers to the villa where we were all instantly impressed. The villa did exceed my expectations and that is not an easy task to accomplish. The grounds are well kept, very clean, and secluded. Peter takes the time to give everyone a complete tour of the property, directions for the alarm system, media center and the outdoor music. The villa sports a wide-open floor plan, which is exactly what our group wanted, plus it provided for awesome views of the pool and ocean. Our party consisted of 5 couples and not once during the week did any of us feel crowded. The villa’s main attraction is the back covered patio overlooking the pool and the ocean. We spent every evening on the back patio overlooking the beautiful ocean sharing stories of the day’s adventures and enjoying refreshing spirits. The villa has tile floor throughout and ceiling fans everywhere. AC is available however none of us required it. The open floor plan and the proximity to the ocean provided an awesome breeze during the day and night. The villa is semi secluded and off the beaten path, which is exactly what our group wanted. A rental vehicle is highly recommended and the road leading into the area of the villa is a little rough but easily navigable to all. The island is easily navigable and everything is relative to the traffic circles on the main road, Leeward Highway. Remember to drive on the left, Give Way at the traffic circles and speed limits are just suggestions as we found out. Also it turns out, so are stop signs. The gas stations on the island do not take credit cards, so plan accordingly. Overall, our group gives the Villa de Ligera and Peter (Sea Feathers) an exceptional review and recommends both to anyone."Guest: BrianS Date of Stay: February 2014 Review Submitted: March 1, 2014View listing
"My wife, two teenage boys and myself all enjoyed our stay at south Fleetwood Private Villas. Kit and Colin always had time to answer our questions and were very helpful, we also enjoyed our little afternoon chats with Colin by the pool :) The Suite is well kept and clean and is 60 seconds walk to the beach, which is one of the best we've ever seen, and less than 10 minute walk to the best shopping on the island. We would recommend this place to anyone as we found this place to be of excellent value for the money."Guest: Johanne and Alain Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: August 6, 2014View listing
"My husband and I stayed 8 nights in this lovely studio unit. This was our first trip to Turks and Caicos, but we have traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean and have rented other vacation properties. This unit was fantastic! It was exactly as described and lovely in every way. We found the Alexandra property to be clean, comfortable, and on a stunning stretch of beach. This was probably our favorite stretch of Grace Bay Beach. The staff were all very polite and welcoming. Working with Candi to set-up the rental was effortless and she was always available to answer questions. She also went above and beyond to ensure that we had everything we needed as well as lots of info about the property and the island in general including restaurant recommendations. We had an amazing time on this trip and it was in large part to the lovely resort and studio unit that we rented. We loved being able to make coffee and breakfast in the morning and sit out on the balcony overlooking the beautiful property. We also enjoyed evenings on the balcony because the resort is lit up beautifully and we had a lovely view. The unit had everything we needed including a washer and dryer as well as fully stocked kitchenette. The bed was comfortable and the linens were soft. Even the bath towels were lovely and soft. We can't wait to come back and will definitely be staying here again!"Guest: Patricia D. Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: August 18, 2014View listing
"La Castalet was an amazing property situated a very short walk to the most beautiful beach I have ever seen (and I have traveled extensively). Susie, the owner, is very accomodating, her place is immaculate (pictures are accurate) and the location can't be beat. It is an awesome value compared to what the resorts charge. I enjoyed my daily walk to the beach where I swam and snorkeled every day I was there. You can walk to lots of shops and restaurants (even Coco Bistro, the number one restaurant on the island). I cant wait to return."Guest: Julia Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: August 9, 2014View listing
Providenciales Travel Tips
Providenciales Vacation Rentals on 38 Square Miles of Bliss
Getting to Providenciales vacation rentals could not be easier. The island is home to the region’s only international airport. While it is the major resort area of the Turks and Caicos Islands, it is just 38 square miles. But those 38 square miles are a vacation paradise! Once you arrive for your Providenciales travel, venture to between the islands to discover each island’s unique characteristics. With a base in Providenciales, there are plenty of opportunities to take day trips out to explore the rest of this stunningly beautiful and tranquil area. It is close in distance to many major U.S. destinations, making it an ideal vacation for Americans. Temperatures here are constant throughout the year with averages between the 70s and 80s Fahrenheit, with little humidity and rain. Although the islands are British territory, the currency is the U.S. dollar.
As recently as the 1960s, there were no cars on the islands. Now, visitors can hire a 4x4 Jeep to make exploring all those out-of-the-way places easy. Another great option is to use the Gecko Shuttle, operating from Grace Bay. Be sure to buy your token before you board.
Stay at Providenciales Villas on the Beaches and Discover Paradise
Provo, as it is called locally, is the most developed of the islands, with resorts, golf courses and casinos. When asked, many visitors say they come for the pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters. The beaches are beautiful but there is much more to Provo that that! Such as the unique Caicos Banks, an undersea pillar that comes from the depths of the ocean to within 30 to 50 feet of the surface. This bank provides safe inshore waters, just perfect for snorkeling, swimming and boating. Outside of the bank is a treacherous reef notorious for wrecking ships which makes for great diving and deep sea fishing.
There are a few tips to be aware of when hitting the beaches here. All the beaches are free and public, including those by hotels and private homes. Most of the coastline is part of the national park, and fishing is not allowed from the beach. There are a huge variety of watersports for visitors, including jet skiing, jet boating, skiff boating, kayaking, glass-bottom boat trips, parasailing, banana boats, semi-submarine trips, kiteboarding, and windsurfing. If you're ready to try something more than snorkeling but not quite ready to try diving, try snuba!
Meet the World’s Only Performing Conch!
For the days when the beach doesn’t beckon, there are golf and miniature golf, horseback riding, tennis, bicycling, jogging and soccer; you can also wander the miles of beach searching for shells and driftwood. Beach-combing can be one of the most delightful ways to spend a leisurely morning at Northwest Point. Here, the pounding surf brings new treasures with every wave. Then, of course, there are a variety of sights and attractions scattered around Provo. Try a visit to the Cheshire Hall Plantation Ruins, explore the spectacular caves and rock carvings at Sapodilla Hill and West Harbor Bluff, and sample the local beer with a visit to Turks Head Microbrewery and the world’s only conch farm at Caicos Conch Farm. Make sure to see the live show featuring some trained conchs!
