  • Compass Rose Shines

"My wife and I recently spent 7 days at the Compass Rose in Salt Cay. The location was well south of the main areas of the island which made you feel a little secluded. This was not a problem as we felt we were on the island by ourselves. The house was clean and had everything you could want to do your cooking if inclined to do so . We were both surprised how large the house was upon arrival. lots of space to hang both dive and clothing . The breeze coming from both sides of the house allowed us to leave the fans off for most of our visit. whThe outside deck areas surrounding the house allowed you to sit anywhere. The upper deck at night while seeping a cognac and enjoying the stars was incredible. The view during the day allowed you to see both the Atlantic and the Caribbean . We would definitely stay here again if it was available . Bikes are available but the roads are very rocky. I would suggest a golf cart to get around the island which can be rented from Candy"

  • Amazing Historic Home on the Quaint Island of Salt Cay

"Our family stayed in the Brown House for 9 nights in July. We were a little unsure of staying somewhere so hot without air conditioning in the middle of the summer, but we were pleasantly surprised by how well the tradewinds blew through the home to keep things cool! It was actually very nice to spend the hottest part of the day in the lounge just feeling the breeze and reading a book. The house itself is very grand. It feels this way because the ceilings are at least 12 feet high and all painted white to help control the heat. It's has been beautifully restored to a historic charm with antique-looking furnishings and modern amenities. It brought our vacation to a whole new level. I enjoyed just walking around the patio, enjoying the views from every angle. The bedrooms were beautifully appointed and the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen is amazing...full-sized industrial fridge and freezer, stainless steel island and counters, and gas stovetop. We ate all of our meals on the oceanfront terrace, enjoying the views. I would strongly recommend renting a golf cart for at least a couple of days to explore all there is to see on Salt Cay. It's also nice to have in the heat even if just traveling a short distance. We were there primarily for scuba diving with SC Divers. We had some amazing dives. The dive master Richard was excellent...very safety conscience. All dives were computer and air dependent which meant we could stay down as long as the computers and air supply allowed. I think our longest dive was about 100 minutes! Our host was very accommodating and arranged for babysitting for our children while we were out. She allowed the children to go with the babysitter to another property she manages, Pirate's Hideaway, to use the beautiful pool there. As another bonus, we discovered our babysitter (Flor) is a masseuse, and we each had hour massages right on our own patio for very reasonable price! Our host also arranged to have our groceries in stock when we arrived and checked in several times through our stay to make sure everything was going well, offering help if needed."

  • A perfect base for Salt Cay

"This house is so perfect. Salt Cay is mystical and beautiful and The Charming House amplifies the effect. Charles and Debbie make a great team. Charles owns the house. He's British. He wrote a spy novel. His vision in creating this space is completely realized. Debbie owns other rental houses, a seaside bar/restaurant called The Coral Reef, Salt Cay Divers...and who knows what else! You should patronize every one of her businesses; we are particularly big fans of the conch fritters, conch chowder and fish sandwich at the Coral Reef! What is there to do on Salt Cay? You probably should figure that out on your own, but here are some basics: 1) Eat at Pat's. It's a block away. Set a spell. 2) See all of North Beach (duh) Explore Windmills Plantation. 3) If you like to hike, walk a couple of blocks east to the water and head all the way North. Swim in blowholes and little private coves. Bring rum punch. 4) Rent a golf cart for a day or two from the lovely Candy at Pirates Cove. If you are not a big fan of hikes, rent longer. We just needed one day. 5) Shop at Dickinson's Super Store. It's just a couple of blocks away and it has everything you need. (Well, alright, maybe you should bring a FEW groceries from Provo...Caicos Express let's you bring 50 pounds of luggage per person with no rules against rum...I mean, liquids) Ok, that's a start. The Charming House will be our first choice when we return to Salt Cay. We have two teenage daughters and we travel a lot. Everyone agreed that Salt Cay and The Charming House were......absolutely charming!"

  • Pirates Hideaway Pool

"Candy allowed our family to use the pool at Pirates Hideaway while we were staying at The Brown House. The kids really loved it! There is a small shallow area which is great for younger children and then a larger free-form area for swimming. The area is beautifully landscaped. The kids had a great time playing here each morning while we were scuba diving."
