  • Great luxury campsite at beautiful Cane Bay

"We hit the vacation jackpot by finding this unique gem on St. Croix. Unlike so many places, the Virgin Kayak campground run by the awesome Jill and Bryan Updyke is exactly as advertised and pictured on their website. It’s super clean and close to the beautiful beach with all the amenities listed and then some. It’s rustic and quaint and very comfortable. If you don’t like nature and need a lot of luxuries, this isn’t the place for you, but if you want an affordable and convenient get away, this is just the place. The bathhouse is a bit of a walk but you should find everything you need right on site. The hosts are super accommodating and go out of their way to make you feel at home, both at the campground and on the island. Cane Bay has a lot to offer. EAT @ Cane Bay is delicious (a little pricey) and is right on site but there are several other places close by to eat – we really enjoyed Rowdy Joes. You will need a car, and you will want to book a kayak tour in advance. We will be back soon!"

  • Could not have been nicer!

"This was the most relaxing vacation my husband and I have ever taken! The home is pristine with everything you could possibly want! Extremely clean and modern with very comfortable beds! The owners, Leon and Donna were wonderful to work with and provided us a wealth of information about the home and the island. Also, Kurt, who manages the property for the owner was very attentive and nice to work with! Great north location with a short distance to several great local restaurants. We especially enjoyed the trip to Buck Island that included snorkeling and then plenty of time on an amazing beach! We look forward to a return trip and wouldn't hesitate to stay at this property again!"

  • Family Vacation in Paradise

"My parents, sister, brother-in-law, nephew and I stayed at Larimar in the middle of July and had an absolute blast. The home was perfect with plenty of room for us to spread out, and well-appointed. We all loved the open air living areas with the stunning views! The weather at the time was a little hazy but weather will be what weather is! It's too bad that the prior guests were disappointed. Michael HAD informed us a month before our arrival that he was working on a new A/C system but was not sure it would be fully functional for us, and that the cost of electricity is so high on the Island if we used it we may incur an additional fee. Frankly, when you are in the Caribbean, not having A/C is the norm, or at least in my experience (unless you want to stay at a hotel with stale recirculated air), and it will likely be hot & humid. Michael made sure we had everything we needed and/or wanted. We arrived late in the evening so he offered to pick up some groceries to get us through to the next day! And, because we arrived so late, he picked us from the airport and took us back the next day to get our rental car, at his own expense! Michael is an extraordinary property manager, concierge, tour director, and island historian! If not for Michael, we would have had a so-so vacation at STX. He took us to the mango forest, historical plantations, Rainbow Beach to hear one of the island's favorite musician, Kirk Schindler, and gave us excellent restaurant recommendations!!! He also brought entertainment to us one evening (on his birthday) -Kiki and the Flaming Gypsies ---fire dancers---WOW, they were wonderful and such delightful, smart women! The home was lovely and perfect for our vacation in St. Croix; I wouldn't change anything about it or Michael's services. Oh, and the three house cats didn't bother us, in fact, it was most likely the giant frogs making the little messes on the pool deck, not the cats....when you are in the tropics, there will be lizards, frogs, birds and bugs (no snakes on STX); and, you quickly fall in love with all the little critters! I can honestly say Michael is a new friend and I can't wait to see him again at Larimar! Thank you, Michael, for making our vacation one of our best family vacations!!!"

  • A little cottage in a tropical paradise.

"We stayed here for 8 nights and it is quite lovely here! Very lush tropical surroundings, beautiful flowers and a nice breeze. We had everything we needed here, including a blender to make rum smoothies every day (there is a large ice machine, fresh bottled water and washer and dryer in one of the out buildings to use). We enjoyed breakfast one morning out on the back deck listening to the birds. The cottage is extremely clean and welcoming. Plenty of beach towels too, and there is also a large pool with a covered seating area next to it with a water feature closeby that makes a tranquil retreat. We enjoyed playing with the resident dogs. Win is a wealth of information on the island and we appreciated her kindness (including some homemade bush tea). This is a real gem and what a bargain too! We definitely will book a return stay sometime in the future."
