  • Best place in St. Croix

"This is not our first time at Hotel on the Cay in St. Croix, but it was the first time we had the pleasure to stay in Larry's condo. It was originally the Harbor Masters Quarters at the entrance to Gallow's Bay. What a view! Larry went out of his way to accommodate us in every way, and his help was pure gold to us. Lots of activities on the island; including horseback riding, tours, drives through the rain forest, and plenty of beautiful beaches and fine restaurants in both Christenstead and Fredrickstead. Hope to visit again soon Larry. Thanks for everything."

  • Definitely worth it, excellent price for the location, and great for a couple.

"From the initial contact with the owner, LaVaughn, it was a pleasant experience. She treated me with all the respect and courtesy anyone can ask for. When I arrived, everything was exactly as advertised on the ad. The room was clean, the location is excellent, WiFi, cable, and all the amenities are included as promised. I felt very safe in the area, which is always important and the property is gated! Mostly everything you need is within walking distance, like bars, the boardwalk, some restaurants, etc. HOWEVER, please rent a car as soon as you get to the airport as not all the beaches and activities are in the area, and you may want to go to Frederiksted and the rest of the island's beaches. There's so much to see. Do not miss out on sightseeing as taxis are quite expensive. Another huge tip: when you arrive, make a bee line for the supermarket and get some groceries as eating out is quite expensive. Again, all the kitchen utensils and cookware are included as well. Enjoy your stay!"

  • Slice of heaven on earth!!

"My husband and I had an amazing time in this condo - absolutely perfect for relaxing and easy to explore the wonderful island of St Croix from here - we had a great taxi service (Native Son Taxi & Tours) that took amazing care of us for 8 days as we did not want to rent a car. Christensted is a short, inexpensive ride away and there are a lot of great restaurants. A trip to Protestant Cay ($5 round trip ferry) is well worth it - great beach and fun bar/grill. Judy's condo is exactly as the pictures show - spotless and very welcoming! The lanai is just spectacular - watched great moon rises from the beach each night and had coffee out there every morning. Judy gives great recommendations for dining, beaches, and just about anything you could possibly want to know. I would DEFINITELY rent this condo again (hopefully soon!) and highly recommend it to anyone who is looking at St. Croix for their next vacation."

  • Relaxing anniversary trip

"We picked the Island Oasis based on the reviews and it lived up to it's name. The pictures and description are accurate but no where near as nice as once you experience Pelican Cove and Island Oasis. Sept is considered "off-season" and we pretty much had the area to ourselves. Cynthia's details are seen everywhere, from the airport driving instructions to everything that is in the condo, you can tell that they care that everyone has an excellent time. St Croix is a beautiful island that has a laid back, non-tourist feel to it. I would recommend renting a car and exploring the island, the drives are very scenic. The maps that you get at the rental car counter are excellent and very detailed. The snorkeling all over the island is excellent and you need to do a Buck Island trip to experience the reef. The beaches all over the island are beautiful and we rarely saw many people when we were at them, including the beach a few feet from the condo. The grocery stores are good (we felt The Plaza was best), but the food is more expensive on the island - including the restaurants. It made more sense for us to spend the days out exploring and make breakfast and dinner at the condo, which has everything to cook with. Do not be afraid to go to places or to say "Hi" to the extremely friendly people who call St Croix their home. There is so much to do on the island, but everything has a very relaxed setting. Definitely spend the $5 for the Cruzan Rum plant tour, if you can find it (no signs, turn south on W. Airport Rd). We can not thank Cynthia enough for providing a condo that immediately made us feel at home! We look forward to returning and bringing friends with us to share the experience."

Christiansted Travel Tips

Getting to Christiansted Vacation Rentals

Christiansted is one of the main towns on the island of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. It was once the capital of the Danish West Indies and many of the historic landmarks reflect the colonial architecture of that era. Henry Rolston International Airport is one of the two major airports in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The airport hosts regularly scheduled direct flights with the U.S. mainland on several North American airlines. To cater to the European market, there are also direct commercial flights between St. Croix and several major European cities. There are also regular regional flights from neighboring islands including Puerto Rico, San Juan and St. Thomas.

Activities and Things to Do near Christiansted Resort Rentals

St. Croix is famous for its beautiful tropical coral reefs and abundant marine life. Divers can expect to see huge gorgonian fans, masses of tropical reef fish and enjoy pristine diving conditions. If you are happier on top of the water instead of underneath it, you can still enjoy the marvels of the reefs on various snorkeling excursions.

Kayaks and windsurfers are available for rent at many of the resorts and beaches. Kayaking is a great way to explore the coastline. If you want to improve your windsurfing skills, you can always sign up for a few classes at the local surf shop. Kite boarding is another popular activity along the coast.

Nature lovers can view some of the turtle nesting sites. There are several environmental groups that conduct studies on the turtles' nesting habits and they are always glad for volunteers who can assist with their monitoring and research.

For those that want a bit of pampering, there are several health spas that offer massage and a range of other beauty treatments. Some have treatment rooms overlooking the beautiful coastline where you can relax and enjoy your treatment.

There are three golf courses on St. Croix and tee-off times can be arranged by calling the golf club or resort. Several resorts have tennis courts where you can enjoy a game with a group of friends. Because the days can be quite hot, many of the courts are lit so you can enjoy an evening game when the temperatures are moderately cooler.

Travelers to Christiansted Villas

People that choose to stay at Christiansted vacation homes are those that enjoy stylish tropical vacations. It is a popular vacation destination for corporate executives looking for a break away from busy city life. Scuba divers are drawn to the pristine coral reefs and almost perfect diving conditions. Sun lovers come to soak up the sun’s rays on the beautiful sandy beaches. St. Croix is a destination that invites relaxation. It is also a wonderfully romantic destination and popular with honeymooners or couples celebrating special wedding anniversaries.

Best Season to USVI St. Croix Vacation Rentals

St. Croix has what some people refer to as a perpetual summer season. The tropical climate is consistently warm throughout the year with little seasonal variation. The only thing that distinguishes the seasons are the amounts of rainfall and humidity. While Christiansted can be visited year-round, the only season to be cautious of is the rainy season when tropical storms or hurricanes occur on occasion. This is between June and November, with most storms occurring in August and September. The island is well equipped to deal with hurricanes and has storm shelters. With the exception of tropical storms, rain showers do not generally last long. These showers usually occur in the early morning or evening, and are short-lived. The days, while humid, are still wonderfully sunny. The driest months are February and March and this is also the peak tourist season. Year-round, the water temperatures remain fairly constant, providing excellent diving and snorkeling conditions.
