  • Better Than Our Dreams

"What we read about in the description and reviews and saw in pics when choosing to book this property proved to be accurate, although in reality not fully representative of our experience, which turned out to be far better than our expectations. When you first see the panoramic view of the islands and sea from this mountain side, it takes your breath away. And the great thing is that the thrill of that view never diminishes because it is ever changing in some way, and you get a slightly different perspective from the deck, or the living area, the bedroom, and even the shower. The living space is immaculate, nicely furnished, and a very comfortable bed invites restful sleep, etc. Plus there are so many special touches such as fresh flowers, original art, refreshments and treats upon arrival that make this a wonderfully welcoming place. We been to St. John 7 or 8 times now, and have always preferred staying on the Coral Bay end of the island, but this spot on the mountain above Coral Bay was not only the most beautiful and comfortable of the accommodations that we've had, but turned out really to be the most convenient for getting to all the beaches where we wanted to snorkel, and to the nice mix of restaurants that are there. After our first trip up the mountain road led by our host, we soon realized that we made the right choice. Our host and hostess, who are the property owners and were in the upstairs section, surely must be counted among the most gracious, knowledgeable, helpful, and interesting folk that you could ever hope to meet. While careful to always respect our privacy and solitude, they were quick to respond to any of our requests and questions. And when a couple of unexpected medical issues developed for us, it was especially reassuring to have their support and suggestions which salvaged what would otherwise have been frustrating and disappointing intrusions into our days in paradise. All in all, our experience in this special place was better than we could have dreamed it could be, and fond memories of it will fill our actual dreams for many days and night to come."

  • The Perfect Villa on St. John

"Drake's view is truly the perfect place to stay on the magical Island of St. John. It is difficult to choose the best aspect of this fabulous villa, but the view probably wins. You see down the whole of the Sir Francis Drake Passage to Virgin Gorda, and the huge glass windows and porches attached to every bedroom and the great room make the view an ever-present feature of life at Drake's view. The view also enhances the wonderful gardens, on which the owners have worked hard for many years, and the beautifully located hot tub and heated pool. As avid snorkelers who have found St. John's the best snorkeling site in the Caribbean, we loved the central location, which allowed us relatively quick access to every beach and snorkeling site (and restaurant) on the island. We snorkeled every day, and loved it, returning to relax at Drake's View to read or just enjoy the pool, gardens, and, always, the fabulous views. The architecture is also outstanding: not the usual rental villa, but a carefully thought-out set of buildings inspired by Caribbean architecture, with a great room (including kitchen, living spaces, and more formal dining area) that is the most beautifully designed and decorated spaces I've seen on the entire island. Add to this the tireless updating of the many amenities (no small feat on this isolated island) and the unmatched skill and helpfulness of the managers, and you have the perfect destination on St. John. We hope to return, and would recommend this villa most enthusiastically to anyone."

  • Great property, super helpful owners.

"I gave my son a gift of this vacation and he selected this house and what a treasure. Beautiful house exactly as pictured. The owners were awesome, picked them up at the ferry, took them for food and even met me at the ferry a day later when I was dropping off the car rental. When renting you should book a four wheel drive but what a wonderful time they had. A million thanks."

  • Amazing Getaway

"My husband and I recently stayed at Sea Cottage for our honeymoon. We had never been to St. John before but after spending a week exploring the island, we both agree that we could not have chosen a better spot than Sea Cottage. Jorge was a perfect host - he met us at the dock and gave us all the information we needed for a great stay, led us back to the cottage, and then gave us our privacy for the rest of the week. He was no more than a text message away though, if needed, and was extremely quick to respond to any questions or requests. The cottage itself is simply perfect, so comfortable, peaceful and beautiful - we almost had to force ourselves to leave to go and explore the island! The cottage is the ideal place to relax - we spent a good amount of time lounging there, reading books, enjoying the breeze, napping, watching the birds, sunrises and sunsets. We watched movies at night, cooked dinners and breakfasts, listened to the wonderful iPod playlists provided by Jorge and Monika. The location is also quite ideal for getting to any part of the island - you are 10-15 minutes away from several beaches by car, and the driving is half the fun. Twisty roads, goats, donkeys and lots of other interesting sights. We drove around all week and still spent less than $40 on gas. Great restaurants and shops are easily accessible on both sides of the island. And coming back to Sea Cottage at the end of the day feels like coming home. A warm secluded outdoor shower to wash away the salt and sand from the day, then relaxing out on the deck with a glass of wine. Sheer perfection. Thank you to Jorge and Monika for sharing your amazing Sea Cottage with us. If you are considering staying here - just do it! You will not regret it!"
