  • Fantastic vacation at Drake's View Villa

"We loved Drake's View Villa! Our flights were running late and we were worried we may not be able to get our car. Fernando talked to the car rental company to make sure they'd hang around a little extra as we were running close to closing time. He was very helpful getting us up to the villa and answering questions. The villa is gorgeous. It is very well maintained and the views are spectacular. We used all 4 bedrooms and appreciated that they were all truly master bedrooms, each with big bed, attached bath, a/c and lovely walk out porches. The pool had great sun from 8am-4pm every day. We ended up there every day after our trips to the beaches. The kitchen had everything we could need, actually multiples of everything we could need. The owners really did think of everything. The location had a lovely breeze coming through which was nice as the temperatures hit 90 while we were there. It was short drive to all the North Shore beaches and a quick 10 minute hop down to Coral Bay. We highly recommend Drake's View and hope to stay there again."

  • Quiet retreat in the woods.

"My wife and I stayed here for 6 nights, and it was wonderful! The cottage was well appointed, clean, and generally cool. It had air conditioning, but we only used it a couple of times. It was roomy enough for us to spread out stuff out, and had a nicely furnished kitchenette. The renters were on site during our visit, and were very hospitable, making sure were had everything we needed. They pointed us to a lot of great, off the beaten track things to see and do. We had a wonderful stay, and were very happy with the location, away from the hustle and bustle. A caution, like much of St John, a Jeep or other 4WD vehicle is a good idea."

  • Better Than Our Dreams

"What we read about in the description and reviews and saw in pics when choosing to book this property proved to be accurate, although in reality not fully representative of our experience, which turned out to be far better than our expectations. When you first see the panoramic view of the islands and sea from this mountain side, it takes your breath away. And the great thing is that the thrill of that view never diminishes because it is ever changing in some way, and you get a slightly different perspective from the deck, or the living area, the bedroom, and even the shower. The living space is immaculate, nicely furnished, and a very comfortable bed invites restful sleep, etc. Plus there are so many special touches such as fresh flowers, original art, refreshments and treats upon arrival that make this a wonderfully welcoming place. We been to St. John 7 or 8 times now, and have always preferred staying on the Coral Bay end of the island, but this spot on the mountain above Coral Bay was not only the most beautiful and comfortable of the accommodations that we've had, but turned out really to be the most convenient for getting to all the beaches where we wanted to snorkel, and to the nice mix of restaurants that are there. After our first trip up the mountain road led by our host, we soon realized that we made the right choice. Our host and hostess, who are the property owners and were in the upstairs section, surely must be counted among the most gracious, knowledgeable, helpful, and interesting folk that you could ever hope to meet. While careful to always respect our privacy and solitude, they were quick to respond to any of our requests and questions. And when a couple of unexpected medical issues developed for us, it was especially reassuring to have their support and suggestions which salvaged what would otherwise have been frustrating and disappointing intrusions into our days in paradise. All in all, our experience in this special place was better than we could have dreamed it could be, and fond memories of it will fill our actual dreams for many days and night to come."

  • Unforgettable!

"Not much to add from the other reviews other than it's hard to think of a way to improve on this villa. The view is jaw-dropping - high enough to see amazing sunrises over St John east end and Norman Island, close enough to Coral Harbor to see Biff or Jimmy getting ready to sail. And the villa faces directly down the Sir Francis Drake Channel, with Tortola to the left, and Norman, Peter and cays to the right, Virgin Gorda on the horizon. The villa is very comfortable, three comfortable air-conditioned bedrooms, one up and two down, each with private bath, plus fantastic great room, gourmet well-appointed kitchen and deluxe gas grill outside. The two full-length-of-the-house porches are beautifully furnished and each is fully screened in case of bugs, but at 600 feet elevation with constant breeze, there aren't many bugs. We loved the pool deck complete with outdoor shower, 6-person soaking spa and what must be the largest pool on the island. You must have 4-wheel drive and the drive up and down the hill is more exciting than an amusement park ride, but that can be said of most villas on the island. The best part about this perfect villa is that it's on St. John, and I can't imagine a more beautiful tropical island anyplace - we visited and snorkeled 13 separate beaches in 6 days - favorites were Salt Pond, Little Lameshur and Groutpan. We loved the relaxed, laid-back style in Coral Bay, getting to know some of the "colorful" local folks - we much preferred this side to the more uppity Cruz Bay side. Fantastic villa and unforgettable stay at Almost Heaven in America's Paradise."
