  • Nice Villa, would be better with some owner upgrades

"We stayed June 8-15, 2014 with a group of 5: a couple, a single dad, and his 18-yr and 15-yr old kids. The property manager did a great job, everything expected of him - no complaints there. The Villa itself is beautiful and for the most part, nicely equipped. Things we loved: Great location, only 5 minutes from a grocery store. The big bay doors and the deck on the upper floor, which let in the breezes. The view from the upper deck was awesome, a full view of Fish Bay. We saw sharks and sea turtles from the deck, as well as iguanas below and in the trees adjacent to the deck. The pool was a great place to float and cool off and have a rum drink - we used it a lot. The bedrooms well-cooled with the individual A/C units, were roomy and the bathrooms were beautiful and well-designed for vacation renters. The supplied beach towels, beach chairs, and coolers were completely adequate for our needs. The supplied washer and dryer worked great and were very handy for allowing us to bring minimal clothing and wash it multiple times while at the Villa. Things we didn't love so much: the entertainment setup in the living room needs a complete upgrade/overhaul. The TV is small and fuzzy, and does not connect to the audio system. The old amplifier, although quality for it's day, does not have a headphone jack input, so there was no way to attach a phone or MP3 player to it. The supplied iPod dock only accepts iPhone4 and older connections. The owner could spend about $2K and get that upgraded to a modern setup and vastly improve the experience. The beds in the lower floor need replacing. They are pushed-together twin beds and they are very poor. One of them slanted to one side. The headboards were not attached and would bang against the wall when you moved in the bed - we just moved them out of the way. The kitchen knives are mostly useless - dull and old. The freezer would not consistently/adequately freeze items. The oven cooked very slowly, and the burners on the top were so weak that we were unable to boil water for pasta. Owner could/should buy new appliances and a good knife set, and it would make the kitchen a lot better. The supplied binoculars were very nice, but small and of weak magnification - a bigger or second set would be helpful. The wi-fi was consistent but slow - maybe spending $100 on a modern router would help. As a summary, we enjoyed our week at Beija Flor, but without the suggested upgrades, we would choose another Villa on a return trip."

  • Wedded Bliss!

"We got married last weekend at Villa St John under the gazebo by the pool with the reception onsite as well. The event could not have gone better! With over 30 people for wedding and reception, there was plenty of room inside and out and our guests throughly enjoyed this beautiful spot and house!! Our family stayed at the house for the week. We had a couple of single adult family members staying in the main house bedrooms and Jarrid put a few air mattresses on frames in the guest house upstairs for the young adult children/cousins with plenty of room for everyone! The views were awesome and the rooms were very spacious. I loved the window in the shower and saw an iguana in the tree outside the window over the tub. We cooked family dinners in the kitchen with plenty of room for everyone to chip in and plenty of room for dining. Some of the beach chairs had torn bottoms and when I let Jarrid know, we had new ones before the next day! Awesome service!! I would definitely go back to Villa St John, we had a fabulous time. Don't forget your bug spray if you go to St John in the summer time!"

  • Breathtaking!

"You will never stay at a more beautiful, comfortable, and affordable villa than "Sweet Wind". It overlooks the natural unspoiled beauty of St. John's Hurricane Hole and the uninhabited mountains beyond. It has everything you will need for a relaxing, romantic, or family vacation."

  • The best way to celebrate 10 years of wedding bliss

"My husband and I stayed at the Balance Villa 8/16-8/21. We cannot begin to express what a glorious time we had. First of all, we arrived at Cruz Bay via ferry where we were greeted by Marilyn from Cimarron mgnt company. She was very friendly and informative. We followed her in our rented jeep through the steep and winding roads of St. John to the Balance Villa located in Fish Bay. The drive was not bad maybe only 10-15 minutes from Cruz Bay. I was on Island time so I did not pay attention. Once we arrived at the Villa we were in awe. The villa is more beautiful in person! It was so clean, and had everything we needed to make our vacation a pleasant one. We stayed in the upstairs master bedroom since it had the better view of Fish Bay. The location of the villa was so quiet, you could hear the waves breaking off in the distance by Ditleff Point. Husband and I slept like babies. Also, having a/c in the bedrooms was a plus. We kept the windows and screened doors open in the living area, making the room temperature pleasant due to no a/c. The tropical landscaping around the villa was beautiful and it sure gave you a sense of privacy. Iguanas, lizards, geckos, hummingbirds, and even a tarantula all made their presence known. Another highlight of the villa were the outdoor showers. Exhilarating! This marked our 3rd trip to the island of St. John and first time staying in a private villa. On this trip we were able to explore and relax on 8 different beaches (Trunk, Hawksnest, Solomon, Francis, Maho, Leinster, Great Lameshur, and Denis). Francis Bay is our new favorite! Balance villa provided beach chairs and coolers which was just perfect! We indulged in great food from restaurants such as Cruz Bay Landing, The Beach Bar, Jake's (the best breakfast in our opinion), Sam & Jack's Deli, Aqua Bistro (Coral Bay area), Driftwood David's. We celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary dinner at ZoZo's at the Caneel Bay Resort. Highly recommend! In conclusion, I want to thank Marc & Anne for allowing us to stay in their beautiful home. This trip was truly one of the best my husband and I have ever had. We could not have asked for a more perfect one. We hope to visit St. John again in the near future."
