"I have no hesitation to recommend this cottage to anybody reading this review. We had a perfect vacation and all aspects of the experience exceeded my expectations. What you will get is a quaint cottage on a hillside with a spectacular view. The bed was as comfortable as anything offered in the best hotel. The cottage, although compact, is perfect for two people. The chairs on the porch provide a comfortable place to relax as you watch the ferries come and go and the sun setting in the distance. If I were to say anything negative, (to give balance to this "review"), is that the road from town to the cottage does not have a sidewalk or really any room to walk along without worrying about the traffic. But this is hardly the owner's fault. We had a car so it was not a problem for us and when going the quarter mile or so into town we drove and parked at the car rental lot. I have to also mention how Janet met us at the ferry, brought us to the cottage and then took us to the car rental. That was really nice and much appreciated. We had no reason to call Janet during our stay because there was no need. It was comforting, nonetheless to know she or her husband were only minutes away if we needed something. The cottage was clean and organized and well equipped. I did not seem to be able to get comfortable on the wicker couch or chair in the "living room", but that had the benefit of moving me to the best place, the porch. The cottage has air conditioning which might be more efficient if there were glass windows. We used the air conditioner briefly to cool the place off as we had just ice and snow. Coming from the Midwest, I could not really quite understand the Caribbean Island design of louvers and shutters. (But then again if I lived where it never got cold or snowed I might forego glass windows too). Each window, had a good screen and either wood or metal louvers or shutters. What more do you need! All in all, this little architectural detail added to the exquisite charm of this place. If you want my opinion, you will get everything you see in the pictures or read in the description and more. As for my recommendation, (other than to rent this place), I think to fully explore the island you need a car. My only concession in the overall experience was to drink Coors Light at the local bar on the main street nearby and only because the one dollar price was cheaper than a bottle of water - the two being nearly equivalent in taste. Thank you Janet."

"We've been visiting St. John since the mid-80's and have rented on every part eventually purchasing a lot on Majestic Mile. Based on our experience we were looking for a villa with down island views above Coral Bay but without the extra drive around the bay since we knew we'd make daily trips to the North Shore beaches and Cruz Bay. We chose Villa Carolina for the huge views - Coral Bay and all the way around to Jost, the vanishing edge pool/patio, the outdoor stone showers and the layout which is ideal for 2 couples. It's on the ridgeline on the uphill side of Majestic Mile. By coincidence it's just east of our lot so we were also looking forward to getting design ideas and a sense of what our views would be.
Sharon has done a magnificent job of designing and building a villa that is appropriate for the island terrain and nestled into the side of the ridge (unlike some of recent monstrosities). She took advantage of the views and used local and imported building materials like local "blue bitch" stone and thick Brazilian hardwood French doors. It is a long and difficult building process on St. John so we took notice of all the little details Sharon incorporated into the design, construction and landscaping. There is an auto-opening wrought iron gate at the entrance and although the uphill driveway starts steep the lot flattens and there is a parking pad for multiple Jeeps.
In addition to the identical suites on either side of the main room there's a third full suite on the lower level for kids or a third couple. Given the perfect weather and the lack of bugs at this elevation we left the five, arched, double French doors that open to the pool/patio open all the time which makes the entire front of the villa open to the outdoors. The morning sun rising over the BVI floods into the bedrooms and at night we enjoyed the moon and the stars over the SFD Channel.
This is a real second home for Sharon and she visits often which means that you aren't staying in a stripped down investment rental, it's Sharon's home and she has furnished and stocked it with the best of everything... Tommy Bahama themed furniture, top quality large and small appliances, tons of cookware and utensils, quality linens, the best patio furniture and all the extras like beach chairs, coolers, etc.
Villa Carolina is a gem and Sharon is a delightful owner. We'll be back!"

"My wife and I have been to St. John three times, and on each visit we have stayed at Grande Bay. This year we asked good friends to join us so the 2BR setup at Seaside worked perfectly. We loved everything about Seaside - the views from the private balconies, the convenient location, the extensive list of amenities, the spacious accommodations, and the friendly staff/landlord all helped make this another memorable vacation. We wouldn't think of staying anywhere else on the island!"

"Everything lived up to our expectations at Sea Cay. From the arrival from the management company and the homeowner to the spectacular view. We would definitely make this a return visit. This is very well located to Cruz Bay and to all the beaches."
