BEST KEPT SECRET ON ST. JOHN!
"I know most of you are searching endlessly for that 'perfect' place to spend a wonderful vacation that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.... well - LOOK NO FURTHER!! Stone Post Cottage is a Treasure! We are repeat visitors to St. John and have stayed in numerous places from resorts to villas. Our Stone Post experience was the best by far!
The Cottage is exactly as described. It is perfectly situated - easy access to town ( YOU WILL NEED A CAR ), quiet and tropical - perched on a hill with a fantastic view out to the ocean. We were met by our lovely caretaker when we got to the island and followed in OUR RENTAL CAR to Stone Post. The cottage was meticulously clean, charmingly furnished, with custom details abound. The bathroom was spacious, up to date hardware with a fantastic shower. Every morning was spent on our balcony with a good cup of coffee looking out across the island. The gardens are full of beautiful tropical plants attracting hummingbirds. I have never seen as many! Make sure you check out the night blooming cactus - STUNNING! On the property is a FULL SIZE LAP POOL that is brilliantly clean that we were fortunate to have to ourselves and a large jacuzzi. The caretaker of the property was wonderful with us and such a pleasure to meet. I also participated in the "Pool Pilates" class which was a blast - made some new friends and learned more about the island - beaches, restaurants e.t.c
We really had such a great experience - very sad to leave. We will definitely be returning to our tiny island home."

"Our family of 5 were very pleased with Still Waters. The villa is very well kept, well stocked with kitchen utensils, towels, paper towels, toilet paper and free snorkel gear rental which was important to us as packing 5 sets of fins takes up a lot of space. The entire villa has air conditioning, which is rare in the island and cools down the villa quickly. The loft is nice sized and is larger that the pictures indicate. There is a back-up generator if power goes out. The pool is on the same level as the living room making it very accessible. The villa is very private, but it is comforting to know that Bob is nearby if needed. Every aspect of the villa is well kept and we will definitely consider staying here in the future."

Good clean home, plenty of room, plenty of water and sunshine
"Met Winnie at the dock. She was the best/nicest/genuine person we met all week. Simply adorable. She took time to take us to our car rental and then we followed her to the house. She as just so funny and sweet! The driveway was straight up. She said if you hit the mountain turn left. The house itself had heavy doors. The breezes blow them shut loudly. The two master bedrooms were beautiful. Only one had a master bath, the other had a bath just outside in the hallway, which also had a door to the pool area. We had many Iguanas in our trees, never once getting on our deck, but they were awesome to watch. They fought occasionally and fell out of the trees. We ordered 2 pizza's the first night, a 6 pack of beer, some wings, and some pop and bill was $108. Whew.
We bought water, if you can - get water the first night you're there. Ask your guide to stop at Dolphin and pick up 10 minutes worth of water, rum and food for a night. We didn't do that - and we wish we would have. We packed coffee and other basics. You must have snacks for sitting on the deck. The deck is beautiful and quiet. We saw no one when we were there. We heard laughter from a deck a little ways away, but saw no one. The house itself is equipped nicely. Good pots and pans, good dishes and glassware, many towels, beach towels and beach chairs and coolers when you go to Cinnamon or Trunk or my favorite Maho. They are good chairs. The first floor bedroom is outside down the steps. There are 2 twin beds with patio doors onto a nice patio area. And it has a bathroom. There is also a workout room with a futon for another sleeper. The washer dryer area is down there too. I loved the high ceilings. The pictures are not up to date - I saw no patio furniture like shown. But there was plenty of good furniture there. The pic of the living room is not exact anymore - there is a flat screen TV there now. I loved making coffee and sitting on the deck waiting for others to wake up.
There's a beautiful view on the deck and it's fun to listen to the cars squealing on the hairpin turns after the rain.
You do need a 4 wheel drive to get here."

"Tom and I wanted to thank you for allowing to let us stay in your charming little honeymoon cottage with the amazing view and all of the comfortable amenities. We had the best vacation of our lives thanks in part by our stay at Chocolate Hole Meritage Cottage. It was so nice to come “home” at night and make a frozen margharita in the blender to sit outside on the porch or soak in the hot tub. The grounds and flowers were beautiful and we enjoyed watching the iquanas in the big tree!
We tried our best to see and experience as much as we could on St. John (swimming, snorkeling, hiking, sight seeing, sunsets, eating & drinking). One day we went to Virgin Gorda to see the Baths which were amazing. Of course we couldnt do everything, so we have saved it for the next time. I hope you will allow us to come back and stay again!
Anyway…….we can't thank you enough for, I know it sounds corny, but this gift of staying at a sweet home in St. John. And a big thank you to Sinbad for welcoming us to the island and giving us the low-down. He was extreme helpful."
