  • What a great first holiday with the love of my life!

"This isn't my first time to St John….actually, I have been there two other times and continue to come back to this house every time. The pool is beautiful and the view can't be matched. From sunsets to sunrise…actually our favourite thing to do was grill brats or steaks outside in the evening, then sit in the lounge chairs with our favorite beverage watching the shooting starts, satellites, and cloud formations! It's amazing how many famous faces are in the clouds! The house itself is so well equipped and beautiful. Everything was top quality and it looks like it was newly remodelled. We were constantly impressed when we were cooking…we were wondering if we had to get salt/pepper, toilet paper…you know, all of the essentials and when we arrived, we realised they had a lot of items! Including rum and tequila that was left by the prior guests! The washer and dryer were very convenient for us and the AC in the bedrooms came in handy every once in a while. Town is a short drive away and we couldn't pass the opportunity to stop at Margarita Phils for a 30 ounce to go margarita for $15 as it was part of our daily commute to the beach. Life is rough…. The Reef Trail hike to the petroglyphs was a highlight. We parked and walked down which was MUCH easier than the walk back up however, we had Margarita Phil in our minds as we did the 3 miles back up hill! Along the way we spotted deer, mongoose, and as we got closer to the beach (which by the way, was deserted…we had it all to ourselves!) we marvelled at the ground moving which we realized were hundred of various types of crabs! There were so many highlights that we can't mention them all however, our short car ride to Miss Lucy's was well worth it to. Sitting outside in the breeze of the ocean eating a Grouper Reuben sandwich with a Dirty Banana cocktail and the local black and white cat sitting in our laps was memorable. So if you are contemplating St John, I can highly recommend this house and think you won't regret the decision to stay at Kia Ora. We hope to be back…maybe for Thanksgiving!!!!"

  • Can't wait to go back!

"I am not sure where to start...my husband and I had an amazing stay at Villa Serendipity! You can tell from that the owners recently did a lot of upgrades and renovations to the house and it is beautiful (lots of changes since the pictures were taken!)! It feels very secluded, but it is also close to town (5 min drive). The views of St. Thomas and parts of St. John are breathtaking, you could just sit on the deck for hours with some cocktails in hand! :) The kitchen is very nice and the perfect size for a vacation rental. The master bedroom and bathroom is very spacious. I would love to come back with my whole family or with a group of friends. It is the perfect size for a larger group of people. The owner was so easy to work with and his response to all of my questions when planning was super speedy! Can't wait to plan another trip in the near future...HIGHLY recommend this villa!"

  • Amazing Vacation Rental!!!

"My wife and stayed at this amazing home with another couple in June and had a wonderful time! The home is so beautiful and unique and feels almost unreal. It was so great to wake up hearing the waves and being able to hop in the water from your own personal beach whenever you want. The fact that the home also comes with it's own jeep makes the experience so much more inclusive and easy. I highly recommend this vacation home to anyone looking to relax in your own hidden personal oasis. We will definitely be coming back!"

Chocolate Hole Travel Tips

Seasons to Visit Chocolate Hole Vacation Rentals

Chocolate Hole is a small community on the island of St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Its Caribbean location results in a year-round warm tropical climate. Temperatures average 70 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit through most of the year, climbing to the mid-90s in the warmer summer months. Technically, the summer season is from June to October and the winter goes from December to April but there really isn’t much seasonal difference. Some people prefer to visit during the milder winter months as it allows them an opportunity to escape from the freezing northern hemisphere weather. Rain showers occur throughout the year and generally are a welcome relief from the heat. The showers tend to be short lived and occur during the late afternoon or evening. Occasionally, you may wake in the morning to the sound of rain and by the time you are up for breakfast, the skies will have clear. The only downside of St. John’s climate is that it is subject to seasonal hurricanes which occur occasionally in the late summer and fall months. Most often, they occur during August and September but they have been known to develop as early as June or sweep through in October.

Attractions near Chocolate Hole Resort Rentals

St. John is unique in that two-thirds of the island is protected National Park. This has allowed the island to retain its natural charm and assets, and avoid commercialization that is so common in the Caribbean. The Reef Bay Trail is a winding hiking trail on St. John where you can explore the island and is a must for nature lovers. Take along your binoculars and camera so that you can capture your sightings of the birds and wildlife along the trail. You can also join up a guided tour of the National Park which is both informative and a wonderful nature experience.

The Virgin Islands are known for their magnificent coral reefs, wrecks and scuba diving attractions. A number of dive schools on St. John have daily diving charters to the various dive sites. If you’d like to upgrade your dive qualification while on holiday, you can join a specialty wreck, deep or night dive course. If you don’t want to spend all your time under the water, join a cruise that takes you snorkeling instead. Many of the reefs are quite shallow so you can still have a wonderful interactive experience with the marine life without having to rig up all your scuba gear. You can also join a unique snuba diving excursion where you don’t need any certification.

Sailing is another popular pastime on St. John. Cruises and yacht charters can be arranged at one of the harbors and this is a wonderful way to explore the Virgin Islands. If you’d prefer to stick closer to the coast, join up with a sea kayak excursion and follow the coastline to secluded cloves and beaches. Deep sea and sport fishing charters can take you out to the deep waters to catch game fish.
