"We were traveling with 2 other couples to St. John and our villa dates got mixed up so we needed a place for one night. Charles and his lovely wife were kind to let us rent for one night. The place was very clean and spacious. It was also a great location, being close to to Cruz Bay with its restaurants, ferry, and grocery stores. This was the first time using VRBO and I was a little nervous but highly recommend now. I would come back to this place anytime!"

  • Cruz Bay Cottage

"I have no hesitation to recommend this cottage to anybody reading this review. We had a perfect vacation and all aspects of the experience exceeded my expectations. What you will get is a quaint cottage on a hillside with a spectacular view. The bed was as comfortable as anything offered in the best hotel. The cottage, although compact, is perfect for two people. The chairs on the porch provide a comfortable place to relax as you watch the ferries come and go and the sun setting in the distance. If I were to say anything negative, (to give balance to this "review"), is that the road from town to the cottage does not have a sidewalk or really any room to walk along without worrying about the traffic. But this is hardly the owner's fault. We had a car so it was not a problem for us and when going the quarter mile or so into town we drove and parked at the car rental lot. I have to also mention how Janet met us at the ferry, brought us to the cottage and then took us to the car rental. That was really nice and much appreciated. We had no reason to call Janet during our stay because there was no need. It was comforting, nonetheless to know she or her husband were only minutes away if we needed something. The cottage was clean and organized and well equipped. I did not seem to be able to get comfortable on the wicker couch or chair in the "living room", but that had the benefit of moving me to the best place, the porch. The cottage has air conditioning which might be more efficient if there were glass windows. We used the air conditioner briefly to cool the place off as we had just ice and snow. Coming from the Midwest, I could not really quite understand the Caribbean Island design of louvers and shutters. (But then again if I lived where it never got cold or snowed I might forego glass windows too). Each window, had a good screen and either wood or metal louvers or shutters. What more do you need! All in all, this little architectural detail added to the exquisite charm of this place. If you want my opinion, you will get everything you see in the pictures or read in the description and more. As for my recommendation, (other than to rent this place), I think to fully explore the island you need a car. My only concession in the overall experience was to drink Coors Light at the local bar on the main street nearby and only because the one dollar price was cheaper than a bottle of water - the two being nearly equivalent in taste. Thank you Janet."

  • Gem of a place!

"We had a wonderful time at this lovely place. It is convenient to everything and we thoroughly enjoyed the breakfasts on the deck and the lovely sunsets. I actually ended up with a horrific sore throat so I probably used the place more than others do. It had all the comforts of home and the evening breezes provided for peaceful sleeps. We did use our ear plugs on several nights as we visited St John during the festive season (last week of December and into Jan), but the music was generally mellow. Robert downstairs was most helpful with advice; he is a very kind man! The tenants upstairs were also a pleasure to meet. It is an overall great place to stay and enjoy the island."

  • Wonderful Experience at Memory Maker

"We just got back yesterday from an incredible vacation in Saint John- all of us could not say enough positive things about the island and specifically this condo and its location. We honestly could not have imagined how great this place was. It was so clean, fully stocked with almost anything you may need (from a DVD rack that rivals a Blockbuster to coolers/chairs to take to the beach, a kitchen filled with any dish you could imagine and a spice rack, a washer and dryer in the condo plus some leftover liquor that they leave open for anyone to drink!). The list could go on and on. The location was absolutely perfect, easy walking distance to the ferry and all bars/restaurants in Cruz Bay. Plus, you have your own parking spot, the pool area and hot tub are beautiful with gorgeous views. The gym is nice and was empty the entire time we were there. They have complimentary coffee and pastries in the morning (delish!) and every employee was so incredibly helpful. They were great to recommend jeep rentals, dining and excursions. It was also an easy hike to several incredible beaches. We wish there were more stars to give this condo. We hope to come back sooner rather than later- thank you so much for opening this place up to us!"
