Loved this condo, adored this island
"Condo: This condo was the perfect, quiet place to come home to day after day as we got to know St. John. LOVED the veranda! The views are spectacular. The walk to the heartbeat of St. John is so short. We're coming back as soon as we can :)
Car: No car is needed. If you go to Maho Bay, though, ask your driver to come back for you. On the day we went, we decided to head back to Cruz Bay at 5 pm and no taxis came by. We hitched a ride with a couple we'd chatted with on the beach. We did rent a Jeep for 2 days to get to Waterlemon Cay on the north shore, and to Haulover, Saltpond Bay, and Vie's Chicken Shack on the south shore.
Food: SOGO's is the real deal for authentic Caribbean cuisine (we had Kingfish and the Curried Goat). Longboard has an incredible lobster sandwich. Da Coal Pot has a delicious conch entree.
Bars: Drink is right next to Grande Bay. Super delicious drinks are the Cucumber/Mint Mojito and the Painkiller (theirs is handcrafted one at a time, not premixed). Joe's Rum Hut has to-die-for Bushwackers that are dessert quality and refreshing.
Islanders: The residents of St. John are just the kindest, grateful-to-have-you people. Make an effort to understand their lovely accent. Look them in the eyes and ask them about themselves. If you fall in love with St. John, tell them.
Thanks for sharing your home with us. See you again sooner than later! ~Deanna & Peter, Houston, TX"

"I have no hesitation to recommend this cottage to anybody reading this review. We had a perfect vacation and all aspects of the experience exceeded my expectations. What you will get is a quaint cottage on a hillside with a spectacular view. The bed was as comfortable as anything offered in the best hotel. The cottage, although compact, is perfect for two people. The chairs on the porch provide a comfortable place to relax as you watch the ferries come and go and the sun setting in the distance. If I were to say anything negative, (to give balance to this "review"), is that the road from town to the cottage does not have a sidewalk or really any room to walk along without worrying about the traffic. But this is hardly the owner's fault. We had a car so it was not a problem for us and when going the quarter mile or so into town we drove and parked at the car rental lot. I have to also mention how Janet met us at the ferry, brought us to the cottage and then took us to the car rental. That was really nice and much appreciated. We had no reason to call Janet during our stay because there was no need. It was comforting, nonetheless to know she or her husband were only minutes away if we needed something. The cottage was clean and organized and well equipped. I did not seem to be able to get comfortable on the wicker couch or chair in the "living room", but that had the benefit of moving me to the best place, the porch. The cottage has air conditioning which might be more efficient if there were glass windows. We used the air conditioner briefly to cool the place off as we had just ice and snow. Coming from the Midwest, I could not really quite understand the Caribbean Island design of louvers and shutters. (But then again if I lived where it never got cold or snowed I might forego glass windows too). Each window, had a good screen and either wood or metal louvers or shutters. What more do you need! All in all, this little architectural detail added to the exquisite charm of this place. If you want my opinion, you will get everything you see in the pictures or read in the description and more. As for my recommendation, (other than to rent this place), I think to fully explore the island you need a car. My only concession in the overall experience was to drink Coors Light at the local bar on the main street nearby and only because the one dollar price was cheaper than a bottle of water - the two being nearly equivalent in taste. Thank you Janet."

"We couldn't have picked a better place to stay for our recent St. John visit. If you want to experience the island as you might if you were a local, this is perfect. Walking distance to Dolphin Market (for your various essentials) and all restaurants, bars, and shops in Cruz Bay & Mongoose Junction, it made all our errands & meals very easy and accessible. For excursions around the island, it's also conveniently located right on Centerline Rd., and very close to the N. Shore Rd., so you can get anywhere you need to go easily. The walk up to the villa is a bit steep (but only for a short distance), so if mobility is an issue, this may pose a challenge. The villa is bright, clean, and very comfortable, with just about all the amenitites you need for a visit to the island. As at least one other reviewer noted, on a busy night, you can hear some of the action "downtown," so peak seasons (presumably, like during Carnival?), it may be an issue. We were so well provisioned, that we never needed to engage property management (though I felt like stopping in just to say "hi!"). The only thing that would prevent us from staying here again is that we will take our kids with us on our next visit, so we'd need another BR."
