  • 20th wedding anniversary stay at St. John

"We normally come to St. John with a small group, but this time it was just my wife and I as we were celebrating our 20 anniversary. We decided to give Grande Bay a try and we were so glad we did. Tracy was so easy to work with and checking in cannot get any easier when staying at Grande Bay as it’s only a two minute walk from the ferry. Since we were right in Cruz Bay we waited until the following morning to pick up our jeep rental which saves a day rental. Can’t tell you how great it is have a covered parking space right in Cruz Bay reserved just for you. We only rented the jeep for 4 days since you can always catch a taxi right in Cruz Bay. This was our 5th time to St. John and this was the best stocked kitchen out of all the villas we stayed at. I’m not talking cheap stuff, I’m talking high quality. Also, we did not see one bug in the Seaside, unless you count a mosquito or two we let in going in and out to the balcony. We ate every breakfast on the balcony and watched the pelicans dive in the water for their breakfast. We must have had about 15 beach chairs to pick from which all seemed practically brand new. The central A/C in Seaside was also the best we’ve ever had on the island. We also liked being right in Cruz Bay because we could quickly wash up after a day at the beach and hit a happy hour and not worry about the drive back to the villa. We liked Joe’s Rum Hut happy hour the best which is $3.00 and you name the drink. Heck, you could get Patron Margaritas if you wanted. Bottom line is if you want to stay in Cruz Bay and want luxury accommodations at a reasonable price give Seaside at Grande Bay a try."

  • Great return stay

"snorkel buddy and I found sand dollar in dec 2013 (see review). just back from return visit and still great condo in super location though hill from town seemed to have been higher! jan was again very easy to deal with an accommodating and continues to make improvements - new ice maker refrig and larger 4 person cooler but we were happy with smaller one. jan has changed to viva for management w/o hitch, though we missed bottle of rum in welcome basket in dec, viva provided nice multipocket beach bags for each bedroom which was a nice useful addition. may not get back in another 6 months but will return. though not the least expensive place we've stayed, out of what has been 17 trips to stj since 2004 & 10 different villas, sand dollar has been "best value"."

  • Great Spot for a Couple to Stay in St. John!

"My wife and I recently returned from a week stay in St. John over Thanksgiving week 2014. We thoroughly enjoyed the island and part of that was our great studio apartment at Grande Bay. It was more than perfect for our stay - great accomodations for an active couple. The studio was very clean and had recentaly been updated. The view of Cruz Bay was fantastic as was the view of St. Thomas when it was lit up at night. We had a perfect balcony for coffee and breakfast in the mornings and pre-dinner drinks at night. The location may have been the best though. We were a 5 minute walk to shops, bars, and restaurants, which was something we were looking for when we booked our trip. It was extremely easy to get everywhere. We rented a 2 door Jeep in order to explore the island (various beaches, Coral Bay, rum plantation ruins, sugar plantation ruins, etc.), but you don't necessarily need one due to the location of the studio. As mentioned, you can walk to all the shops, restaurants, and bars easiy, and if you want to go to the beach (i.e. Trunk Bay) there are plenty of cabs available. One thing I would recommend if renting a car is to get to Trunk Bay before 10:00am in order to get a parking spot since it is relatively limited. All in all, the Grande Bay studio was just a perfect spot for us. It was a fantastic home base for staying on and exploring the absolutely beautiful island of St. John. Thank you Jackie!"

  • Amazing trip to St John

"Our vacation was amazing. From the first contact with the owners to our tearful good bye to St John our vacation was amazing. Leslie and Peter have an amazing place with all the comforts of home. Including free local and long distance calls from the room. We took advantage of the free Wi-Fi to facetime with the kids while we were away. That was an amazing bonus to the spacious floor plan that included a full kitchen, that was fully stocked with pots, pans, silverware, glassware, as well as spices and coffee filters. The place was amazing, but the views were breathtaking. Every morning I enjoyed my coffee on the veranda and watched the ferries come into and out of Cruz Bay harbor. Then we took our rented jeep for a spin to the beach. It was nice that parking in the garage was included in the rental fee. And the St John Villa company made it very easy. They had a greeter meet us at the ferry dock. They escorted us to our room (5 minute walk from the ferry), showed us around the rental property, and then took us to the jeep rental. They even showed us the market to get groceries for the week. They also used them to book a snorkel trip on the Bad Kitty, which I'm now suggesting to everyone reading this. It was nice to have breakfast at our place then venture out for the day. At night, we parked the jeep in the garage, and walked into Cruz Bay for dinner. The meals at Lime Inn were amazing, and the Cruz Bay Landing had an awesome Mahi Mahi fresh catch special. We also spent one evening relaxing in the pool and hot tub at Grande Bay. The facilities were not large, but very nicely kept. And since we were there at low season there was only one other couple using the facilities. Actually, they were the only other couple we saw staying at the resort during our stay. That may be because the unit is tucked into the far upper left corner of the complex, just remote enough to feel private. But close enough to town to have everything at your finger tips. We are already planning our next trip back, and this place will be our place to stay. Thank you Leslie and Peter for sharing your lovely house with us."
