  • Beautiful Place! Perfect Location!

"We enjoyed our stay. The condo was very clean and had all the amenities we needed including the groceries we ordered prior to our arrival. The outside living space was spectacular. Unfortunately, we had a lot of rain during our stay but we were still able to enjoy all the outdoor space because of the roof and the screens we could put down. I've stayed several places in St. John and this location was by far the best. In a moment you were in the heart of Cruz Bay. At night you could even hear the music from the Beach Bar while on the patio (but you could not hear the music while inside in the bedroom). We rented a car to get to the beaches but because of the close location to downtown, I think you could do without one and instead easily hail a cab from downtown and take a cab to most of the beaches-especially the popular ones like Trunk and Hawksnest. The property manager was very helpful and available and helped us plan our trip. They greeted us upon arrival and walked us through all we needed to know about our condo. I would definitely recommend staying here and working with this group. It was a beautiful place, a perfect location, smooth booking, and I can not wait to get back there!"

  • Gem of a place!

"We had a wonderful time at this lovely place. It is convenient to everything and we thoroughly enjoyed the breakfasts on the deck and the lovely sunsets. I actually ended up with a horrific sore throat so I probably used the place more than others do. It had all the comforts of home and the evening breezes provided for peaceful sleeps. We did use our ear plugs on several nights as we visited St John during the festive season (last week of December and into Jan), but the music was generally mellow. Robert downstairs was most helpful with advice; he is a very kind man! The tenants upstairs were also a pleasure to meet. It is an overall great place to stay and enjoy the island."

  • Our Winter Escape to Rhumb Runners

"We (a Medicare eligible but far from immobile couple) returned to our hill farm home in New Hampshire’s Lakes Region late Saturday night, Feb. 28, 2015 from a week at Rhumb Runners to find that the brutal, relentless winter we had escaped was still going strong. That week was a wonderful respite and Rhumb Runners, the Coral Bay area and the east end of St. John were what made it so. Perched high above a busy area next to Coral Bay harbor (up 5 switchbacks on a challenging, but paved, road, which our Jeep Wrangler from Cool Breeze rentals was able to handle when dry without resort to 4-wheel drive, absolutely required when the road was wet or in some other situations encountered), Rhumb Runners was ideal for us. Rhumb Runners is private, bright, clean, roomy, airy (no shortage of wind), with exceptional views of the harbor, east end and the BVI beyond, and a nice, very private pool. Chris and Mike were ideal hosts, took care of small problems (e.g., replacing a new, but non-functioning microwave) and interesting company to be with, although after introducing us to the place, they let us have our space to ourselves. Aside from occasional showers (mostly brief downpours in the middle of the night), the weather was good (much better than NH!!!). We had dinner each night at local restaurants, examples: best conch fritters in 18 years BVI and USVI experience at Miss Lucy’s; great grilled yellow snapper escobiche at Concordia; best seared tuna had anywhere at Aqua Bistro. We enjoyed the local beaches: Salt Pond (a hike downhill, uphill back), Round Bay (called Haulover south, uncrowded and steps from your car) and Vie’s at Hansen Bay in the east end (an uncrowded, sandy beach for which a donation of $2.50 per person was requested and happily provided). We also went to Waterlemon Bay beach (requires a level hike of maybe 2/3rds mile in and out, but what was said to be best snorkeling was too far out for swimmers of our level). Driving by other north shore beaches to the west we found that they mostly lacked sun early in the day and became very crowded later. So, to sum up, we had a great week and very much enjoyed our stay at Rhumb Runners, which we highly recommend."

  • Good clean home, plenty of room, plenty of water and sunshine

"Met Winnie at the dock. She was the best/nicest/genuine person we met all week. Simply adorable. She took time to take us to our car rental and then we followed her to the house. She as just so funny and sweet! The driveway was straight up. She said if you hit the mountain turn left. The house itself had heavy doors. The breezes blow them shut loudly. The two master bedrooms were beautiful. Only one had a master bath, the other had a bath just outside in the hallway, which also had a door to the pool area. We had many Iguanas in our trees, never once getting on our deck, but they were awesome to watch. They fought occasionally and fell out of the trees. We ordered 2 pizza's the first night, a 6 pack of beer, some wings, and some pop and bill was $108. Whew. We bought water, if you can - get water the first night you're there. Ask your guide to stop at Dolphin and pick up 10 minutes worth of water, rum and food for a night. We didn't do that - and we wish we would have. We packed coffee and other basics. You must have snacks for sitting on the deck. The deck is beautiful and quiet. We saw no one when we were there. We heard laughter from a deck a little ways away, but saw no one. The house itself is equipped nicely. Good pots and pans, good dishes and glassware, many towels, beach towels and beach chairs and coolers when you go to Cinnamon or Trunk or my favorite Maho. They are good chairs. The first floor bedroom is outside down the steps. There are 2 twin beds with patio doors onto a nice patio area. And it has a bathroom. There is also a workout room with a futon for another sleeper. The washer dryer area is down there too. I loved the high ceilings. The pictures are not up to date - I saw no patio furniture like shown. But there was plenty of good furniture there. The pic of the living room is not exact anymore - there is a flat screen TV there now. I loved making coffee and sitting on the deck waiting for others to wake up. There's a beautiful view on the deck and it's fun to listen to the cars squealing on the hairpin turns after the rain. You do need a 4 wheel drive to get here."
