Fish Bay is a small residential community located on the island of St. John in the US Virgin Islands. St. John is accessible only by ferry or private boat as it does not have its own airport. There are two international airports found nearby, one on St. Croix and one on St. Thomas. Most often travelers to St. John route via St. Thomas. The Cyril E. King Airport is located on the southwestern side of St. Thomas. The airport hosts a variety of international and regional airlines. There are daily flights from major cities such as New York City, Atlanta, Miami, Chicago, Charlotte and Ft. Lauderdale. On arrival, travelers will need to take a taxi from the airport to the Wilmoth E. Blyden Marine Facility or the Red Hook Marine Facility. From there, they will be able to board ferries that travel to St. John. Once on St. John, you can get a taxi to Fish Bay.

Visitors to Fish Bay can enjoy quiet days of island seclusion. It is a small residential community located near Cruz Bay. It is the type of place that is perfect for a honeymoon or romantic getaway. Small, quaint cottages dot the hillside and offer guests amazing views out over the bay. Relax on the deck in a hammock with your favorite book and simply enjoy the view. If you need to get supplies, you can get a taxi to Cruz Bay where you will find a grocer. The US Virgin Islands are a favorite island destination for American citizens because there are no immigration or customs requirements.

Because of its tropical location, St. John has some superb coral reefs. Some are quite shallow and can be easily accessed from the beaches. The best diving reefs can be reached by boat charter. There are several reputable diving companies on St. John that have daily dives scheduled when the weather permits. Divers can enjoy warm tropical water and great visibility as they explore colorful reefs amid thousands of reef fish.

Sailing charters are available from several of the marinas on St. John. This is a superb way to spend a lazy day. Cruise along the coastline and drop anchor off a secluded beach. Swim ashore or snorkel on the house reefs before returning to the yacht to sail back home.

Deep sea and sport fishing are popular pastimes in St. John. There are several well-equipped fishing charter operators that will take you out to the fertile fishing grounds of the Caribbean. Most excursions include lunch and refreshments.

Alternate ways of exploring the coastline are in a sea kayak or by hiking along one of the many coastal paths on the island. Many of the trails can be explored on your own but guides are also available if you are unsure of navigating your way. Horseback riding excursions take you to explore the interior of the island.

Best Time of Year to Visit USVI St John Vacation Rentals

The US Virgin Islands enjoy a warm tropical climate year-round. There is little seasonal difference in the temperatures from summer to winter. The rainfall patterns are more distinctive. In the summer months, there are frequent rainstorms and towards the end of the season, there are occasional tropical storms. Hurricanes occur anytime between June and October and happen most frequently in August. This is the only time of year that you need to be wary of traveling to St. John. The peak travel season occurs in December and January when many people from the northern hemisphere want to escape cold winter temperatures.
