Recent USVI/St. John reviews

  • Can echo the previous great reviews!

"We too, loved Harmony by the Pool. The house had everything we could need, including beach chairs and coolers. And lots of room for hanging wet towels and stuff. Everything was as described. Dealing with Sharon and later Erik and Sam was a delight. We enjoyed breakfast on the deck every morning, the wonderful breezes at night and all that Coral Bay had to offer. (Vie's Beach and her lunch shack was a fun day, as were Salt Pond, Francis, Trunk Bay). The couches and bed were really comfy. We snorkeled everyday at a different beach and hiked Rams Head and the easy walk at Francis Beach. We did find those last few yards into the House challenging and the deep ruts seemed to get worse as the week work on, although we got better at handling it! No way without a 4-wheel which Sharon advised us when we rented. We stopped at the grocery store in Coral Bay before we went to the house. There was a lot of stuff already in the cupboard and fridge, so you might check it out before you shop or just buy a few perishables on your first trip. The new store has everything. We sure didn't want to leave Harmony by the Pool and St. John! Thank you, Sharon for everything"

  • Great home for our family trip!

"We just returned from a week long stay in this beautiful home! It had everything we needed and then some! We were a party of eight ranging from 9 to 70 years young and this home was perfect! Plenty of room to spread out and expansive decks and kitchen/living room to all get together! Also, the view was amazing! It was a short drive to all the groceries/restaurants/shopping in Cruz Bay. Mark was excellent! He picked us up at the dock, took us to our rental car and then up to the house we went! We took full advantage of the grill, deck and pool! Our party of eight could fit comfortably in the pool and it was a great way to cool down in the evenings! We really enjoyed out time at Southern Exposure and can't wait to come back!"

  • Truly Incredible Property! Relaxing & Fully Private! Exactly what we needed in a vacation!

"Wow! The pictures online do not do this property justice. The views are absolutely stunning and you can lookout and see both the mountainside along with the ocean. This property is truly one of a kind. If you are looking for relaxation and privacy this is the place for you. From the back patio and pool you will not see another house except for on the horizon. You can lounge in the pool all day long with a fantastic breeze always blowing through. This was exactly the vacation my wife and I needed. With its old world charm from the arches, wood shutters and doors, along with the stone and shell mason wall... every aspect of this property has been thought out and done right. Everything we needed was already there. The location to Cinnamon bay was great and only about a 10 minute ride. Make sure to get a jeep as the roads are a typical island road on the way down to the beach, but provide some fun if you like your 4x4. Our host Curtis & DeSean were very professional and welcoming. To make sure we would find the house, our island host was waiting for us when we got off of the ferry from St. Thomas and escorted us up to the home where he answered all our questions about St. John. Thank you for sharing this wonderful place with us and we will be back. If you are reading this and looking at this place for an upcoming vacation I guarantee you won't be disappointed. We will definitely be back!"

  • Private Little Cottage - Amazing Views - Great Price

"We just returned from a two-week stay at Blue Wrasse, and are already dreaming of our next visit. The new managers Tom and Jackie are fantastic. They made sure we felt welcome, and provided a wonderful arrival experience. They told us the best place to get our water containers refilled (the cottage uses unfiltered rain water- fine for bathing and washing some dishes, but not potable) and provided us a full container of fresh water to get us going. They left us plenty of beach and bath towels, which we really appreciated. The views from this cottage are fantastic; the sunrises dramatic. The cottage itself is small, but we had plenty of room for my husband and me, and our two college-age sons. The queen-sized bed "downstairs" was comfortable, and the loft bed and sleeper-sofa provided plenty of sleeping space for our boys. The bathroom is small, but completely serviceable, and I can't imagine that a better view from a bathroom exists anywhere else. The kitchen is fully equipped providing everything we needed to prepare meals. The grill is fantastic. The deck is small, but the screened in porch gave us plenty of room to hang out, and did protect us a bit from the mosquitoes. The cottage is completely surrounded by vegetation, and is located at the bottom of a pretty significant flight of stairs leading from the parking area, giving you a sense of total privacy and seclusion. When the wind was blowing the cottage was perfectly situated to catch the breeze. When the wind stopped blowing (which was unusual for January) it got a little difficult to dry things out (towels, swim suits etc) and the mosquitoes came out in force. There were some mosquito rings at the cottage (the kind you light and the smoke keeps the mosquitoes away) which helped, but I would definitely recommend having a can of repellant on hand. As advertised, there are A LOT of stairs between the parking area and the cottage. This wasn't a problem for us as we are pretty active, but would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. Pro:Running up and down the stairs a few times a day was the equivalent of spending hours at the gym no other workout necessary! Con: the stairs can get VERY SLIPPERY when wet, especially with bare feet. While we were there it rained almost daily, and the first day I slipped on the bottom steps and bruised myself up pretty well. After that I took my time and stepped very carefully with no more slips - just take your time. We will definitely be returning next year!"
