"We stayed at Anchorage Aweigh June 21-28, 2015. We arrived and rented a small car from the airport, dropped by a local grocery store in St. Thomas then hopped on the Car Ferry to St. John's. We met Marc and St. Johns roads were a bit scary due to the steep hills and hairpin turns. When we arrived at Anchorage Aweigh we were pleasantly surprised. The place was clean, and fully equipped. The pool was extremely nice and larger than expected. Without a hot water heater, we were grateful to have a hot shower every night. The air-conditioned bedroom was a plus, we slept well the entire trip!
We did not need a four wheel drive at any point on the trip and we were happy to have a small car to easily pass others on the narrow roads. We were told only one road on the island required a 4-wheel drive vehicle.
The only thing Anchorage Aweigh didn’t supply that is a must is snorkel gear and mask defogger. We loved snorkeling every day! Anchorage Aweigh had a new washer and dryer on the property, however it was not listed on the amenities. Note: No need to purchase: tide, toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, or beach towels. Anchorage Aweigh will have everything you will need.
We truly loved Anchorage Aweigh and felt comfortable and pampered, we highly recommend this place."

"While writing this review, I find myself missing Bliss more with each passing letter. This was truly a wonderful experience on St. JOHN, VI. Cynthia was great from the start. Prompt responses and answers to all of our concerns and questions. From planning the trip, to island day beach excursions, nothing was too much to ask.
Bliss is a piece of heaven. There are many books, movies and VIEWS to keep everyone happy. I couldn't watch TV, but the selections were ample.
Kitchen was well equipped. All was clean and very well updated. Anyone could use this place as a home.
The air conditioner, when needed, was plenty to keep the whole place cool, upstairs and down. The mattresses were comfy. It was easy to sleep.
Also, there was a grill (worked perfect) and a patio that I could just enjoy forever...view of Cruz Bay.
If you do encounter an issue while you stay, rest assured that they will work diligently and quickly to resolve and make things perfect.
I would recommend a car. The hill is too much for most. Well worth the climb though for the untouchable views.
Just as a side note...we moved to Gallows point for the last half of the stay and it wasn't nearly as comfortable. We should have saved our money and stayed longer at Bliss."

"Looking for a private and beautiful vacation? This cottage is for you. Coral Bay is secluded, scenic, and perfect for you to share some quality time with your spouse. This was a great choice for a honeymoon spot for me and my wife.
Some notes on St. John. You will absolutely have to rent a Jeep in Cruz Bay to get to this side of the island and get around to sight-see. The roads are not for the faint of heart, but are doable. There are lots of animals on the island and a good amount of animal noise in the morning; I would suggest running the A/C or the fan, even if it is just for the sake of ambient noise. Use bug spray early. Definitely rent a dinghy one day (we used Noah's Little Arks) to visit beaches that way. Go snorkeling, but keep an eye out for sea urchins. If you go near storm season, keep in mind that 1/2 of restaurants and shops may be closed.
And remember, it's an island ;)"

"We had a glorious family vacation week on St. John, made all the better by our stay at Villa Beija Flor. The view was amazing! We ( 4 adult couples, one with a 3 year old) were very comfortable in our own rooms with private baths... ( a small folding cot was provided and perfect for the little one). We loved relaxing and having meals on the decks, (and being able to cook them ourselves when we wanted ) and being able to leave the doors open to the breezes. The décor is beautiful and has a definite "island" feel...but we did have to do some simple "childproofing" .....just moving valuable items out of reach of little fingers...and devising a "barrier" between the upper deck and the stairs to the lower deck/pool area...neither of which were real problems. The location was great....far enough away from the noise/commotion of downtown, but not so far away as to prevent us from exploring 6 beautiful beaches! (although driving up and down the hills...especially on the left side of the road took some getting used to). Definitely need your own vehicle to get around...we rented jeeps on St. Thomas and took the car barge with no problem. We had a wonderful time!!!"
