  • Nice Villa, would be better with some owner upgrades

"We stayed June 8-15, 2014 with a group of 5: a couple, a single dad, and his 18-yr and 15-yr old kids. The property manager did a great job, everything expected of him - no complaints there. The Villa itself is beautiful and for the most part, nicely equipped. Things we loved: Great location, only 5 minutes from a grocery store. The big bay doors and the deck on the upper floor, which let in the breezes. The view from the upper deck was awesome, a full view of Fish Bay. We saw sharks and sea turtles from the deck, as well as iguanas below and in the trees adjacent to the deck. The pool was a great place to float and cool off and have a rum drink - we used it a lot. The bedrooms well-cooled with the individual A/C units, were roomy and the bathrooms were beautiful and well-designed for vacation renters. The supplied beach towels, beach chairs, and coolers were completely adequate for our needs. The supplied washer and dryer worked great and were very handy for allowing us to bring minimal clothing and wash it multiple times while at the Villa. Things we didn't love so much: the entertainment setup in the living room needs a complete upgrade/overhaul. The TV is small and fuzzy, and does not connect to the audio system. The old amplifier, although quality for it's day, does not have a headphone jack input, so there was no way to attach a phone or MP3 player to it. The supplied iPod dock only accepts iPhone4 and older connections. The owner could spend about $2K and get that upgraded to a modern setup and vastly improve the experience. The beds in the lower floor need replacing. They are pushed-together twin beds and they are very poor. One of them slanted to one side. The headboards were not attached and would bang against the wall when you moved in the bed - we just moved them out of the way. The kitchen knives are mostly useless - dull and old. The freezer would not consistently/adequately freeze items. The oven cooked very slowly, and the burners on the top were so weak that we were unable to boil water for pasta. Owner could/should buy new appliances and a good knife set, and it would make the kitchen a lot better. The supplied binoculars were very nice, but small and of weak magnification - a bigger or second set would be helpful. The wi-fi was consistent but slow - maybe spending $100 on a modern router would help. As a summary, we enjoyed our week at Beija Flor, but without the suggested upgrades, we would choose another Villa on a return trip."

  • Most Relaxed in a Long, Long Time

"Booking this property was very easy and pleasant. Once we arrived on the island, Justin met us at the ferry to help with luggage, car rental, etc. He guided us to the house (which would have been virtually impossible to find on the first trip), made sure we were settled and helped us with dinner reservations that night. The house was very comfortable and perfect for our party of a married couple, a sister-in-law and 2 children (21 and 16). We were a little surprised at how warm the common areas were in the late afternoon and evening - but we spent most of our time on the lanai, overlooking the bay anyway. Each bedroom was private and comfortable. Each shower opened up to view the bay. Could not have asked for a more relaxing oasis to return to after exploring beaches all day long. New appliances (stove, refrigerator, washer/dryer) were about to be installed which is good. Overall, this was heavenly - location, view comfort. As an aside, when we did have a few small issues, Justin was quick to help resolve it - even coming out in the evening to make a minor repair. The entire family felt like we had found a 2nd home."

  • Caribbean Savvy

"My wife and I just returned from our ? th trip to St. John, began in 1971. Over the years we have stayed at the Eureka property approximately 5 times, most times we book too late. We love the property because of the proximity to town, if you forget something it is not the end of the world AND the location is great for catching a dinner in town without the distance. The property provides an excellent view of Rendezvous Bay, Chocolate Hole with St. Croix in the distance. The house was very clean and well maintained. Louvered windows can be opened to provide cooling breezes and large ceiling fans kept the house cool. The price was very reasonable for a property on St. John. We have traveled the Caribbean extensively, been to most Islands, and St. John is our favorite. Eureka is the perfect spot for all our needs."

  • Just as described - wonderful

"My husband and I plus two other couples stayed at Sea Cay for 10 wonderful days. The villa is just as described, very clean and comfortable. The three separate bedrooms with their own bathrooms gave everyone privacy and no one had to share a bathroom. The view is beautiful and it was fun watching the cruise ships come and go. The villa is close to Cruz Bay but not walking distance a car is advised. The beach below the villa is accessible and the snorkeling there is pretty good. The managers and the owners are very friendly and helpful, if we had a question they were available with answers. As for grocery shopping I would recommend St John market, the staff is friendly and they have a good selection of products, it's also the closest to the villa. We had a great time at the Quietmon Pub during St Patricks Day the Corn Beef was excellent as were the drinks! We also ate at The Lime Tree Inn, excellent food and service. Don't miss a day at Vi's beach and try her Conch Fritters or chicken and Johnny Cakes, fantastic. We didn't get to all of our favorite beaches this time but the ones we did visit were great as usual, Francis, Vi's and Lamshur! Needless to say we all loved the Villa and would stay there again. It was comfortable and made us feel right at home. We highly recommend Sea Cay for a lovely stay on St John."
