"We spent a week at White Cottage in August 2015. The home is in a great area, about a 10 minute drive to town. We were happy to have a private pool and lovely terrace to relax on. We found the kitchen to be well stocked and the home had plenty of beach towels for us to use, as well as beach chairs and coolers, which was a nice touch. It would benefit from more seating around the kitchen table and the living room area as there was not enough for our entire group at once. Fortunately, we spent much of our time on the terrace outside so it wasn't a big issue. We initially could not log into the Wi-Fi, but that was quickly resolved and we had no problem with the Wi-Fi after that.
We had 5 adults and 2 teens in our group, so we used all the bedrooms. I think we all enjoyed having our own private space to retreat to at the end of our action packed days. If you have young children you need to know that except for the main bedroom, adjacent to the kitchen space, you must go outside to get to the bedrooms and use an outside staircase to access the ones downstairs. The bedroom adjacent to the living space is the largest with a sitting area. As another reviewer mentioned, the morning sun is strong. Take a sleeping mask if you plan to sleep-in.
When we visited St John, the island was in a severe drought, so we were instructed on arrival to take very short (1-2 minute) showers and not to flush the toilets unless necessary, etc. This was unexpected, but we did as asked but still "ran out" of water the night before we left which was inconvenient. We were not told this could happen. I understand the entire island has these restrictions and they have water delivered to fill up the reservoirs under the homes. Anyone travelling to St John should know that these water restrictions are in place."

"Miles Away far exceeded our expectations. Similar to what other reviewers say, the actual home is even nicer than the pictures indicate (as if this is even possible!!). My husband and I stayed at Miles Away with our 3 small children (9, 7, 3). It was a perfect home for us. Private, open/fluid space, and beautifully decorated. The private wrap around porch has sweeping, unobstructed views of the ocean. The pool is pristine and very relaxing. The bedrooms are spacious and gorgeous. The extra twin cot was also very helpful for us. The kitchen is fully equipped with every imaginable appliance and grill is top notch. Because we have small children, it was easier to make meals and eat in the house rather than going out. Marc, the property manager is responsive and helpful. I love Miles Away and cannot wait to return!"

"This is a great villa and you won't be disappointed if you rent it. My kids (teenagers) and I spent a week here and it was just right. James was very accommodating to our Thursday-Thursday schedule, and also rented us a sturdy 4-wheel drive car at a discounted rate. We took a cab from the airport in St. Thomas to Red Hook, caught the ferry over and James picked us up at the dock. He filled us on some good things to do while taking us straight to the house, only 10 min from the dock. The house has a nice main living area, great AV set-up, a kitchen with everything we needed and a wonderful westward view of Cruz Bay. It was very convenient to the town, as well as to highway 104 which goes right up to the centerline road, so it was quick to get to anywhere on the island. Each bedroom had a bathroom and the four of us were very comfortable. AC was available but with the breeze we never needed it. Many of the other reviews of other properties I read mentioned chickens and donkeys making all sorts of noise early in the morning, but I never heard them here. The only sounds were the occasional dog in the distance or a horn from a truck rounding the nearby bend in the road. The pool and hot tub were terrific, and great to return to after a day at the beach. The house had beach towels, beach chairs, coolers and a basket full of information brochures and magazines. Wi-fi was fast and worked everywhere in the house and around the pool. We typically would start the day with a run down the back roads, checking out the great views, followed by a jump in the pool, and then enjoying a smoothie from the blender as we sat on the porch. We then would set off on the days adventure. Upon return, we would relax in the hot tub before cooking our dinner or going out and then come home to watch some of their supplied movies or on Dish TV. Definitely consider eating in occasionally. There is a market about 5 min away from the property, but be prepared for sticker shock on food items in St. John. Everything except chicken and plantains is 2-3 times what you are probably used to paying, but it's still far cheaper than eating out. If I had to think of a negative on the property it would be that we did get some mosquitos occasionally in the house despite our best efforts, but that was only one 1-2 days when the wind was down. James was very responsive and took us back to the ferry right on time. I would highly recommend this place to anyone seeking a relaxing week in St. John."

"We had a glorious family vacation week on St. John, made all the better by our stay at Villa Beija Flor. The view was amazing! We ( 4 adult couples, one with a 3 year old) were very comfortable in our own rooms with private baths... ( a small folding cot was provided and perfect for the little one). We loved relaxing and having meals on the decks, (and being able to cook them ourselves when we wanted ) and being able to leave the doors open to the breezes. The décor is beautiful and has a definite "island" feel...but we did have to do some simple "childproofing" .....just moving valuable items out of reach of little fingers...and devising a "barrier" between the upper deck and the stairs to the lower deck/pool area...neither of which were real problems. The location was great....far enough away from the noise/commotion of downtown, but not so far away as to prevent us from exploring 6 beautiful beaches! (although driving up and down the hills...especially on the left side of the road took some getting used to). Definitely need your own vehicle to get around...we rented jeeps on St. Thomas and took the car barge with no problem. We had a wonderful time!!!"
